Psalm 95

Psalm 95[a]

95 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord.
Let us shout out praises to our Protector who delivers us.[b]
Let us enter his presence[c] with thanksgiving.
Let us shout out to him in celebration.[d]
For the Lord is a great God,
a great king who is superior to[e] all gods.
The depths of the earth are in his hand,[f]
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it.
His hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down and worship.[g]
Let us kneel before the Lord, our Creator.
For he is our God;
we are the people of his pasture,
the sheep he owns.[h]
Today, if only you would obey him.[i]
He says,[j] “Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah,[k]
like they were that day at Massah[l] in the wilderness,[m]
where your ancestors challenged my authority,[n]
and tried my patience, even though they had seen my work.
10 For forty years I was continually disgusted[o] with that generation,
and I said, ‘These people desire to go astray;[p]
they do not obey my commands.’[q]
11 So I made a vow in my anger,
‘They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.’”[r]

Psalm 97-99

Psalm 97[a]

97 The Lord reigns.
Let the earth be happy.
Let the many coastlands rejoice.
Dark clouds surround him;
equity and justice are the foundation of his throne.[b]
Fire goes before him;
on every side[c] it burns up his enemies.
His lightning bolts light up the world;
the earth sees and trembles.
The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of the whole earth.
The sky declares his justice,
and all the nations see his splendor.
All who worship idols are ashamed,
those who boast about worthless idols.
All the gods bow down before him.[d]
Zion hears and rejoices,
the towns[e] of Judah are happy,
because of your judgments, O Lord.
For you, O Lord, are the Most High[f] over the whole earth;
you are elevated high above all gods.
10 You who love the Lord, hate evil!
He protects[g] the lives of his faithful followers;
he delivers them from the power[h] of the wicked.
11 The godly bask in the light;
the morally upright experience joy.[i]
12 You godly ones, rejoice in the Lord.
Give thanks to his holy name.[j]

Psalm 98[k]

A psalm.

98 Sing to the Lord a new song,[l]
for he performs[m] amazing deeds.
His right hand and his mighty arm
accomplish deliverance.[n]
The Lord demonstrates his power to deliver;[o]
in the sight of the nations he reveals his justice.
He remains loyal and faithful to the family of Israel.[p]
All the ends of the earth see our God deliver us.[q]
Shout out praises to the Lord, all the earth.
Break out in a joyful shout and sing!
Sing to the Lord accompanied by a harp,
accompanied by a harp and the sound of music.
With trumpets and the blaring of the ram’s horn,
shout out praises before the king, the Lord.
Let the sea and everything in it shout,
along with the world and those who live in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands!
Let the mountains sing in unison
before the Lord.
For he comes to judge the earth.
He judges the world fairly,[r]
and the nations in a just manner.

Psalm 99[s]

99 The Lord reigns!
The nations tremble.[t]
He sits enthroned above the cherubim;[u]
the earth shakes.[v]
The Lord is elevated[w] in Zion;
he is exalted over all the nations.
Let them praise your great and awesome name.
He[x] is holy!
The king is strong;
he loves justice.[y]
You ensure that legal decisions will be made fairly;[z]
you promote justice and equity in Jacob.
Praise[aa] the Lord our God.
Worship[ab] before his footstool.
He is holy!
Moses and Aaron were among his priests;
Samuel was one of those who prayed to him.[ac]
They[ad] prayed to the Lord and he answered them.
He spoke to them from a pillar of cloud;[ae]
they obeyed his regulations and the ordinance he gave them.
O Lord our God, you answered them.
They found you to be a forgiving God,
but also one who punished their sinful deeds.[af]
Praise[ag] the Lord our God!
Worship on his holy hill,
for the Lord our God is holy.
