M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
24 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
2 Command the sons of Israel that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.
3 Outside the veil of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the testimony, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the LORD continually; it shall be a perpetual statute for all your ages.
4 He shall order the lamps upon the pure lampstand before the LORD continually.
5 And thou shalt take fine flour and bake twelve cakes thereof; each cake shall be of two-tenth deals.
6 And thou shalt set them in two orders, six in each order, upon the clean table before the LORD.
7 And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each order, that it may be on the bread for an aroma and incense unto the LORD.
8 Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually: an everlasting covenant of the sons of Israel.
9 And it shall belong to Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in the holy place, for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD on fire, by a perpetual statute.
10 ¶ In that season the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the sons of Israel; and this son of the Israelite woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp;
11 and the Israelite woman’s son pronounced the Name and cursed; and they brought him unto Moses. And his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.
12 And they put him in ward that the mind of the LORD might be showed them.
13 And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying,
14 Bring forth the one that has blasphemed outside the camp and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
15 And thou shalt speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, The man that speaks evil of his God shall bear his sin.
16 And he that pronounces the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him; the same with the stranger as with the natural, if he pronounces the Name, he shall be put to death.
17 Likewise he that kills any man shall surely be put to death.
18 And he that kills an animal shall make it good: animal for animal.
19 And if a man causes a blemish in his neighbour; as he has done, so shall it be done to him;
20 breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he has caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.
21 He that kills an animal shall restore it, but he that kills a man shall be put to death.
22 Ye shall have one manner of law: as for the stranger, so shall it be for the natural; for I am the LORD your God.
23 And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel that they should bring forth the one that had blasphemed out of the camp and stone him with stones. And the sons of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.
To the Overcomer, A Psalm of David.
1 ¶ In thee, O LORD, have I waited; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in thy righteousness.
2 Incline thine ear unto me; deliver me speedily; be thou my strong rock, for a house of defence to save me.
3 For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake thou shalt lead me and guide me.
4 Thou shalt pull me out of the net that they have laid in secret for me; for thou art my strength.
5 Into thy hand shall I commit my spirit; thou shalt ransom me, O LORD God of truth.
6 I have hated those that regard lying vanities; but I wait in the LORD.
7 I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy, for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities
8 and hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; thou hast set my feet in a wide place.
9 ¶ Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: my eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
10 For my life is spent with grief and my years with sighing: my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
11 I was a reproach among all my enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to my acquaintances: those that see me without flee from me.
12 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I have become like a lost vessel.
13 For I have heard the slander of many; fear was on every side; while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
14 But I trusted in thee, O LORD; I said, Thou art my God.
15 My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of my enemies and from those that persecute me.
16 Make thy face to shine upon thy slave; save me for thy mercies’ sake.
17 Let me not be ashamed, O LORD, for I have called upon thee; let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be cut off for Sheol.
18 Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
19 ¶ Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for those that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for those that wait in thee before the sons of men!
20 Thou shalt keep them in the secret place of thy face from the pride of man; thou shalt keep them in the tabernacle protected from the strife of tongues.
21 Blessed be the LORD, for he has shown me his marvellous mercy in a strong city.
22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes; nevertheless thou hast heard the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
23 O love the LORD, all ye his merciful ones, for the LORD preserves the faithful and plentifully rewards the proud doer.
24 Be of good courage and strengthen your hearts, all ye that wait in the LORD.
7 ¶ A good name is better than precious ointment and the day of death than the day of one’s birth.
2 It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.
3 Sorrow is better than laughter; for by the sadness of the countenance the heart is made whole.
4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure.
5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise than to hear the song of fools.
6 The laughter of the fool is as the crackling of thorns under a pot, and this also (the laughter or prosperity of the fool) is vanity.
7 ¶ Surely oppression makes a wise man mad, and a gift destroys the heart.
8 Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and he who has suffered in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
9 Do not be hasty in thy spirit to be angry, for anger rests in the bosom of fools.
10 Never say, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.
11 ¶ Knowledge is good with an inheritance and is the excellency of those that see the sun.
12 For knowledge is a defence, and money is a defence; but wisdom excels in that it gives life to those that have it.
13 Consider the work of God; for who can make straight that which he has twisted?
14 In the day of good enjoy that which is good, but in the day of adversity open your eyes and learn: God also has made the one (the day of adversity) before the other, to the end that man should find nothing after him.
15 All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perishes for his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongs his days by his wickedness.
16 Do not be too legalistic; neither make thyself over wise in thine own eyes: why should thou destroy thyself?
17 Do not be hasty to condemn, neither be thou foolish: why should thou die in the midst of thy labours?
18 It is good that thou should take hold of this; and also from the other not withdraw thy hand; for he that fears God shall come through with everything.
19 Wisdom strengthens the wise more than ten mighty men who are in the city.
20 For surely there is not a just man upon earth that in doing good does not sin.
21 Also do not take to heart all the words that are spoken lest thou hear thy slave speak evil of thee:
22 For thine own heart knows that thou thyself likewise hast spoken evil of others many times.
23 ¶ All this I have proved by wisdom: I said, I will be wise, but it was far from me.
24 That which has been is far off and that which is exceeding deep, who can find it out?
25 I applied my heart to know and to search and to seek out wisdom and the reason of things, and to know the wickedness of folly and the madness of error;
26 and I find more bitter than death the woman whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands are bonds; whosoever pleases God shall escape from her, but the sinner shall be held prisoner in her.
27 Behold, this I have found, saith the preacher, weighing things one by one to find out the answer,
28 which my soul yet seeks, but I find not: one man among a thousand I have found, but a woman among all those I have not found.
29 Behold, this only have I found: that God has made man upright, but they have sought out many perversions.
3 ¶ This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For there shall be men who are lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, evil speakers, disobedient to their parents, unthankful, impure,
3 without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, without temperance, without meekness, without goodness,
4 traitors, rash, puffed up, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God,
5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 For of this sort are those who creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with various lusts,
7 ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 And in the manner that Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth, men of corrupt understanding, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 But they shall not prevail, for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as that of those also was.
10 ¶ But thou hast fully known my doctrine, conduct, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11 persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra, persecutions I have endured, and the Lord delivered me out of them all.
12 And all that desire to live godly in Christ Jesus shall also suffer persecution.
13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and in that which has been entrusted unto thee, knowing of whom thou hast learned them,
15 and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto saving health by the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
