Deuteronomy 30

30 ¶ And it shall come to pass when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse which I have set before thee, and thou shalt return unto thy heart among all the Gentiles, where the LORD thy God shall have driven thee,

and shalt convert unto the LORD thy God and shalt hear his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart and with all thy soul,

then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity and have mercy upon thee and will return and gather thee from all the peoples where the LORD thy God has scattered thee.

If thou hast been driven out unto the outmost parts of the heavens, from there will the LORD thy God gather thee and from there will he take thee;

and the LORD thy God will return thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt inherit it; and he will do thee good and multiply thee more than thy fathers.

And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul, that thou may live.

And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies and on those that hate thee, who persecuted thee.

And thou shalt return and thou shalt hear the voice of the LORD and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.

And the LORD thy God will make thee abound in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body and in the fruit of thy beasts and in the fruit of thy land, for good; for the LORD will turn to rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers,

10 when thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, when thou shalt turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart and with all thy soul.

11 ¶ For this commandment which I command thee today is not hidden unto thee, neither is it far off.

12 It is not in heaven, that thou should say, Who shall go up for us to heaven and take it for us and recite it unto us, that we may fulfil it?

13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou should say, Who shall go over the sea for us and take it for us and recite it unto us, that we may fulfil it?

14 But the word is very near unto thee, in thy mouth and in thy heart that thou may fulfil it.

15 ¶ See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

16 for I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his rights, that thou may live and be multiplied; and may the LORD thy God bless thee in the land into which thou dost enter to inherit it.

17 But if thine heart turns away so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away and worship other gods and serve them,

18 I declare unto you this day that ye shall surely perish and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, to go unto which thou passest the Jordan to inherit it.

19 I call the heavens and the earth to witness today against you that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life that both thou and thy seed may live,

20 that thou may love the LORD thy God and that thou may hear his voice and that thou may cleave unto him; for he is thy life and the length of thy days that thou may dwell in the land which the LORD swore unto thy fathers, to Abraham to Isaac and to Jacob, to give them.

Psalm 119:73-96

JOD.

73 ¶ Thy hands have made me and fashioned me; give me understanding, and I shall learn thy commandments.

74 ¶ Those that fear thee will be glad when they see me because I have waited on thy word.

75 ¶ I know, O LORD, that thy judgments are right and that thou in faithfulness hast afflicted me.

76 ¶ Let, I pray thee, thy mercy be for my comfort, according to thy spoken word unto thy slave.

77 Let thy mercy come unto me, that I may live, for thy law is my delight.

78 ¶ Let the proud be ashamed, for they dealt perversely with me without a cause, but I will meditate in thy precepts.

79 Let those that fear thee turn unto me and those that have known thy testimonies.

80 ¶ Let my heart be perfect in thy statutes that I not be ashamed.

CAPH.

81 ¶ My soul faints with desire for thy salvation as I await thy word.

82 Mine eyes fail for thy spoken word, saying, When wilt thou comfort me?

83 ¶ For I am become like a wine skin in the smoke; yet I have not forgotten thy statutes.

84 ¶ How many are the days of thy slave? When wilt thou execute judgment on those that persecute me?

85 ¶ The proud have dug pits for me, but they do not proceed according to thy law.

86 All thy commandments are of the same truth; they persecute me wrongfully; help me.

87 They have almost consumed me upon earth, but I have not forsaken thy precepts.

88 ¶ Cause me to live according to thy mercy, so I shall keep the testimony of thy mouth.

LAMED.

89 ¶ For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in the heavens.

90 Thy truth is from generation to generation; thou hast established the earth, and it perseveres.

91 They persevere unto this day by thy ordinance; for they are all thy slaves.

92 ¶ Unless thy law had been my delight, I should have perished in my affliction.

93 ¶ I will never forget thy precepts; for with them thou hast caused me to live.

94 ¶ I am thine, keep me; for I have sought thy precepts.

95 ¶ The wicked have waited for me to destroy me, but I will consider thy testimonies.

96 ¶ I have seen an end of all perfection, but thy commandment is exceeding broad.

Isaiah 57

57 ¶ The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.

He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

¶ But come here, ye sons of the sorceress, generation of the adulterer and the whore.

Against whom do ye sport yourselves? Against whom do ye make a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? Are ye not rebellious sons, a lying seed of transgression,

inflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clefts of the rocks?

Among the smooth stones of the valley is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even unto them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a present. Should I not avenge these things?

Upon the lofty and high mountain thou hast set thy bed: even there thou didst go up to offer sacrifice.

Behind the doors also and the posts thou hast set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed and made thee a covenant with them; thou didst love their bed wherever thou didst see it.

And thou didst go to the king with ointment and didst multiply thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto Sheol.

10 Thou became wearied in the multitude of thy ways; yet thou didst not say, There is no remedy: thou hast found that which thou wast searching for; therefore thou repented not.

11 And of whom hast thou reverenced or feared? Why dost thou lie; that thou hast not remembered me, nor have I come to thy thought? Have I not held my peace even of old, and thou hast never feared me?

12 I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.

13 ¶ When thou criest, let thy companions deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that waits in me shall have the land by inheritance and shall possess the mountain of my holiness.

14 And shall say, Clear away, clear away, level the way, take away the stumblingblocks out of the way of my people.

15 For thus has said the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is The Holy One; I dwell in the high place and in holiness and with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit to cause the spirit of the humble to live and to cause the heart of the contrite ones to live.

16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for by me is the spirit covered by the body, and I have made the souls.

17 ¶ For the iniquity of his covetousness I was wroth and smote him: I hid my face and was wroth, and he went on rebelliously in the way of his heart.

18 I have seen his ways and will heal him: I will lead him also and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.

19 I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off and to him that is near, said the LORD; and healed him.

20 But the wicked are like the sea in tempest, that cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.

21 There is no peace, saith my God, for the wicked.

Matthew 5

¶ And seeing the multitudes, he went up into the mountain; and when he had sat down, his disciples came unto him;

and he opened his mouth and taught them, saying,

¶ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.

Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.

10 Blessed are those who suffer persecution for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of the heavens.

11 Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake.

12 Rejoice and be exceeding glad, for great is your reward in the heavens; for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

13 ¶ Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its savour, with what shall it be salted? From then on it is good for nothing, but to be cast out and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city set upon a mountain cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on the lampstand, and it gives light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.

17 ¶ Think not that I am come to undo the law or the prophets; I am not come to undo, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle shall pass from the law until all is fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall undo one of these least commandments and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of the heavens; but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of the heavens.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of the heavens.

21 ¶ Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not commit murder, and whosoever shall commit murder shall be guilty of the judgment;

22 but I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother out of control shall be in danger of the judgment, and whosoever shall insult his brother shall be in danger of the council, but whosoever shall say, Thou art impious, shall be in danger of hell.

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remember that thy brother has something against thee;

24 leave thy gift there before the altar, and go; first restore friendship with thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Conciliate with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out of there, until thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27 ¶ Ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not commit adultery;

28 but I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29 Therefore if thy right eye should bring thee occasion to stumble, pluck it out and cast it from thee; for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 And if thy right hand should bring thee occasion to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is better for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

31 It was also said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a bill of divorce;

32 but I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, except for the cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery; and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced commits adultery.

33 ¶ Again, ye have heard that it was said to the ancients, Thou shalt not perjure thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths;

34 but I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by the heaven, for it is God’s throne,

35 nor by the earth, for it is his footstool, neither by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 But let your communication be, Yes, yes; No, no; for whatsoever is more than this comes of evil.

38 ¶ Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth;

39 but I say unto you, That ye resist not with evil, but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if anyone desires to sue thee at the law, and take away thy clothing, let him have thy cloak also.

41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him two.

42 Give to him that asks of thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

43 ¶ Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless those that curse you, do good to those that hate you, and pray for those who speak evil about you, and persecute you;

45 that ye may be sons of your Father who is in the heavens, for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love those who love you, what reward shall ye have? Do not even the publicans the same?

47 And if ye embrace your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Do not even the publicans so?

48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in the heavens is perfect.
