2 Kings 13

13 3 Jehoahaz the son of Jehu is delivered into the hands of the Syrians. 4 He prayeth unto God, and is delivered. 9 Joash his son reigneth in his stead. 20 Elisha dieth. 24 Hazael dieth.

In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and he reigned seventeen years.

And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to [a]sin, and departed not therefrom.

And the Lord was angry with Israel, and delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben-Hadad the son of Hazael, all [b]his days.

And Jehoahaz besought the Lord, and the Lord heard him: for he saw the trouble of Israel, wherewith the king of Aram troubled them.

(And the Lord gave Israel a [c]deliverer, so that they came out from under the subjection of the Aramites. And the children of Israel [d]dwelt in their tents as [e]beforetime.

Nevertheless, they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam which made Israel sin, but walked in them, even the [f]grove also remained still in Samaria)

For he had left of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen, because the king [g]of Aram had destroyed them, and made them like dust beaten to powder.

Concerning the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz and all that he did, and his valiant deeds, are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria, and Joash his son reigned in his stead.

10 ¶ In the seven and thirtieth year of Joash king [h]of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.

11 And did evil in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat that made Israel to sin, but he walked therein.

12 Concerning the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his valiant deeds, and how he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the kings of Israel?

13 And Joash slept with his fathers, and Jeroboam sat upon his seat: and Joash was buried in Samaria among the kings of Israel.

14 ¶ When Elisha fell sick of his sickness whereof he died, Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept upon his face, and said, [i]O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen of the same.

15 Then Elisha said unto him, Take a bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.

16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it. And Elisha put his hands upon the king’s hands,

17 And said, Open the window [j]Eastward. And when he had opened it, Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, Behold, the arrow of the Lord’s deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance against Aram: for thou shalt smite the Aramites in Aphek, till thou hast consumed them.

18 Again he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite the ground. And he smote thrice, and ceased.

19 Then the man of God was [k]angry with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times, so thou shouldest have smitten Aram, till thou hadst consumed it, where now thou shalt smite Aram but thrice.

20 ¶ So Elisha died, and they buried him. And certain bands of the Moabites came into the land that year.

21 And as they were burying a man: behold, they saw the soldiers: therefore they cast the man into the sepulcher of Elisha. And when the man was down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he [l]revived and stood upon his feet.

22 ¶ But Hazael king of Aram vexed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.

23 Therefore the Lord had mercy on them and pitied them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from him as [m]yet.

24 So Hazael the King of Aram died: and Ben-Hadad his son reigned in his stead.

25 Therefore Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz returned, and took out of the hand of Ben-Hadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken away by war out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father: for three times did Joash beat him, and restored the cities unto Israel.

2 Timothy 3

1 He foretelleth the dangerous times that are to ensue: 9 but with the certain hope of victory, 10 he encourageth him to the combat, 14 setting out especially the trial of sound doctrine.

This [a]know also, that in the (A)last days shall come perilous times.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, cursed speakers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, [b]unholy,

Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, intemperate, fierce, no lovers at all of them which are good,

Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God,

Having a show of godliness, but have denied the power thereof: [c]turn away therefore from such.

For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive simple women laden with sins, and led with divers lusts,

Which women are ever learning, and are never able to come to the acknowledging of the truth.

(B)And as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth, men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

[d]But they shall prevail no longer: for their madness shall be evident unto all men, as theirs also was.

10 [e]But thou hast [f]fully known my doctrine, manner of living, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, patience,

11 Persecutions, and afflictions which came unto me at [g]Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra, which persecutions I suffered: but from them all the Lord delivered me.

12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution.

13 But the evil men and deceivers shall wax [h]worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned, and which are committed unto thee, knowing of whom thou hast learned them:

15 And that thou hast known the holy Scriptures of a child, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, through the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 (C)[i]For the whole Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable to teach, to convince, to correct, and to instruct in righteousness,

17 That the [j]man of God may be absolute, being made perfect unto all good works.

Hosea 5-6

1 Against the Priests and rulers of Israel. 13 The help of man is in vain.

O ye Priests, hear this, and hearken ye, O house of Israel, and give ye ear, O house of the King: for judgment is toward you, because you have been a [a]snare on Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.

Yet they were profound to decline to [b]slaughter, though I have been a [c]rebuker of them all.

I know [d]Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me: for now, O Ephraim, thou art become an harlot, and Israel is defiled.

They will not give their minds to turn unto their God: for the spirit of fornication is in the midst of them, and they have not known the Lord.

And the [e]pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.

They shall go with their sheep, and with their bullocks, to seek the Lord: but they shall not find him: for he hath withdrawn himself from them.

They have transgressed against the Lord: for they have begotten [f]strange children: now shall [g]a month devour them with their portions.

Blow ye the trumpet in Gibeah, and the shame in Ramah: cry out at Beth Aven, after thee, O [h]Benjamin.

Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I caused to [i]know the truth.

10 The princes of Judah were like them that [j]remove the bound: therefore will I pour out my wrath upon them like water.

11 Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly walked after the [k]commandment.

12 Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as a rottenness.

13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound, then went Ephraim unto [l]Assyria, and sent unto King [m]Jareb: yet could he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.

14 For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a lion’s whelp, to the house of Judah: I, even I will spoil and go away: I will take away, and none shall rescue it.

15 I will go, and return to my place, till they acknowledge their fault, and seek me: in their affliction, they will seek me diligently.

1 Affliction causeth a man to turn to God. 9 The wickedness of the Priests.

Come, and let [n]us return to the Lord: for he hath spoiled, and he will heal us: he hath wounded us, and he will bind us up.

After two days will [o]he revive us, and in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

Then shall we have knowledge, and endeavor ourselves to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning, and he shall come unto us as the rain, and as the latter rain unto the earth.

O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, how shall I entreat thee? for [p]your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the morning dew it goeth away.

Therefore have I [q]cut down by the Prophets: I have slain them by the words of my mouth, and thy [r]judgments were as the light that goeth forth.

For I desired [s]mercy, and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

But they [t]like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they trespassed against me.

[u]Gilead is a city of them that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.

And as the thieves wait for a man, so the company of Priests murder in the way by consent: for they work mischief.

10 I have seen villainy in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim: Israel is defiled.

11 Yea, Judah hath set a [v]plant for thee, while I would return the captivity of my people.

Psalm 119:145-176

KOPH

145 I have [a]cried with my whole heart: hear me, O Lord, and I will keep thy statutes.

146 I called upon thee: save me, and I will keep thy testimonies.

147 I prevented the morning light, and cried: for I waited on thy word.

148 Mine eyes [b]prevent the night watches, to meditate in thy word.

149 Hear my voice according to thy loving kindness: O Lord, quicken me according to thy [c]judgment.

150 They draw near that follow after [d]malice, and are far from thy Law.

151 Thou art near, O Lord: for all thy commandments are true.

152 I have known long since [e]by thy testimonies, that thou hast established them forever.

RESH

153 Behold mine affliction, and deliver me: for I have not forgotten thy law.

154 Plead my cause, and deliver me: quicken me according unto thy [f]word.

155 Salvation is far from the wicked, because they seek not thy statutes.

156 Great art thy tender mercies, O Lord: quicken me according to thy [g]judgments.

157 My persecutors and mine oppressors are many: yet do I not swerve from thy testimonies.

158 I saw the transgressors and was [h]grieved, because they kept not thy word.

159 Consider, O Lord, how I [i]love thy precepts: quicken me according to thy loving kindness.

160 The [j]beginning of thy word is truth, and all the judgments of thy righteousness endure forever.

SCHIN

161 Princes have [k]persecuted me without cause: but mine heart stood in awe of thy words.

162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth a great spoil.

163 I hate falsehood and abhor it, but thy Law do I love.

164 [l]Seven times a day do I praise thee, because of thy righteous judgments.

165 They that [m]love thy law, shall have great prosperity, and they shall have none hurt.

166 Lord, I have [n]trusted in thy salvation, and have done thy commandments.

167 My soul hath kept thy testimonies: for I love them exceedingly.

168 I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: [o]for all my ways are before thee.

TAU

169 Let my complaint come before thee, O Lord, and give me understanding [p]according unto thy word.

170 Let my supplication come before thee, and deliver me according to thy promise.

171 My lips shall [q]speak praise, when thou hast [r]taught me thy statutes.

172 My tongue shall entreat of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteous.

173 Let thine hand help me: for I have chosen thy precepts.

174 I have longed for thy salvation, O Lord, and thy Law is my delight.

175 Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee, and thy [s]judgments shall help me.

176 I have [t]gone astray like a lost sheep: seek thy servant, for I do not forget thy commandments.
