Deuteronomy 17

17 (A)You shall not sacrifice to Yahweh your God an ox or a sheep which has a defect or any [a]blemish, for that is an abominable thing to Yahweh your God.

(B)If there is found in your midst, in any of your gates of the towns which Yahweh your God is giving you, a man or a woman who does what is evil in the sight of Yahweh your God, by trespassing against His covenant, and has gone and (C)served other gods and worshiped them, (D)or the sun or the moon or any of the heavenly host, (E)which I have not commanded, and if it is told to you and you have heard of it, then you shall inquire thoroughly. Behold, if it is true and the matter is confirmed that this abomination has been done in Israel, then you shall bring out that man or that woman who has done this evil deed to your gates, that is, the man or the woman, and (F)you shall stone them, and they will die. (G)On the mouth of two witnesses or three witnesses, he who is to die shall be put to death; he shall not be put to death on the mouth of one witness. (H)The hand of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. (I)So you shall purge the evil from your midst.

Judging Cases

(J)If any case is too difficult for you to judge, between [b]one kind of homicide or another, between [c]one kind of lawsuit or another, and between [d]one kind of assault or another, being cases of dispute in your gates, then you shall arise and go up to (K)the place which Yahweh your God chooses. So you shall come to (L)the Levitical priest or the judge who is in office in those days, and you shall inquire of them, and they will declare to you the judgment in the case. 10 And you shall do according to the [e]terms of the judgment which they declare to you from that place which Yahweh chooses; and you shall be careful to do according to all that they teach you. 11 (M)According to the [f]terms of the law which they teach you, and according to the judgment which they tell you, you shall do; you shall not turn aside from the word which they declare to you, to the right or the left. 12 And the man who acts (N)presumptuously by not listening to the priest who stands there to minister to Yahweh your God, or to the judge, that man shall die; thus you shall purge the evil from Israel. 13 Then all the people will hear and be afraid and will not act (O)presumptuously again.

Statutes for the King

14 “When you enter the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and you (P)possess it and live in it, and you say, ‘(Q)I will set a king over me like all the nations who are around me,’ 15 you shall surely set a king over you whom Yahweh your God chooses, one (R)from among your brothers you shall set as king over yourselves; you may not put a foreigner over yourselves who is not your brother. 16 (S)Moreover, he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor shall he (T)cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses. (U)Yahweh has said to you, ‘You shall never again return that way.’ 17 (V)And he shall not multiply wives for himself, [g]or else his heart will turn away; nor shall he greatly increase silver and gold for himself.

18 “Now it will be when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law on a scroll [h](W)in the presence of the Levitical priests. 19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read it (X)all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear Yahweh his God, [i]to carefully observe all the words of this law and these statutes, 20 that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers (Y)and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, to the right or the left, so that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his sons in the midst of Israel.

Psalm 104

The Glory of Yahweh Endures Forever

104 (A)Bless Yahweh, O my soul!
O Yahweh my God, You are very great;
You are (B)clothed with splendor and majesty,
Wrapping Yourself with (C)light as with a cloak,
(D)Stretching out the heavens like a tent curtain.
[a]He (E)lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters;
[b]He sets up the (F)clouds to be His chariot;
[c]He walks upon the (G)wings of the wind;
[d]He makes His [e]angels (H)the winds,
His ministers flaming (I)fire.

He (J)founded the earth upon its place,
So that it will not [f]shake forever and ever.
You (K)covered it with the deep as with a garment;
The waters were standing above the mountains.
At Your (L)rebuke they fled,
At the (M)sound of Your thunder they hurried away in alarm.
The mountains went up; the valleys went down
To the (N)place which You founded for them.
You set a (O)boundary that they may not pass over,
So that they will not return to cover the earth.

10 [g]He sends forth (P)springs in the valleys;
They flow between the mountains;
11 They (Q)give water to every beast of the field;
The (R)wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 Above them the birds of the heavens (S)dwell;
They give forth their voices among the branches.
13 [h]He (T)gives water to the mountains from His upper chambers;
(U)The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.

14 [i]He causes the (V)grass to grow for the [j]cattle,
And (W)vegetation for man’s [k]cultivation,
To bring forth [l]food (X)from the earth,
15 And (Y)wine which makes man’s heart glad,
(Z)To make his face glisten more than oil,
And [m]food which (AA)sustains man’s heart.
16 The trees of Yahweh are satisfied,
The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,
17 Where the (AB)birds build their nests,
The (AC)stork’s home is in the [n]fir trees.

18 The high mountains are for the (AD)wild goats;
The (AE)cliffs are a refuge for the [o](AF)shephanim.
19 He made the moon (AG)for the seasons;
The (AH)sun knows the place of its setting.
20 You (AI)appoint darkness so that it becomes night,
In which all the (AJ)beasts of the forest (AK)creep about.
21 The (AL)young lions roar to go after their prey
And to (AM)seek their food from God.
22 When the sun rises they gather together
And lie down in their (AN)dens.
23 Man goes forth to (AO)his work
And to his labor until evening.

24 How (AP)numerous are Your works, O Yahweh!
[p]In (AQ)wisdom You have made them all;
The (AR)earth is full of Your [q]possessions.
25 This is the (AS)sea, great and [r]broad,
There the creeping things are without number,
Creatures both small and great.
26 There the (AT)ships move along,
And [s](AU)Leviathan, which You have formed to play in it.

27 They all (AV)wait for You
To (AW)give them their food in [t]due season.
28 You give to them, they gather it up;
You (AX)open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.
29 You (AY)hide Your face, they are dismayed;
You (AZ)take away their [u]spirit, they breathe their last
And (BA)return to their dust.
30 You send forth Your [v](BB)Spirit, they are created;
And You renew the face of the ground.

31 Let the (BC)glory of Yahweh endure forever;
Let Yahweh (BD)be glad in His works;
32 [w]He (BE)looks at the earth, and it (BF)trembles;
He (BG)touches the mountains, and they smoke.
33 [x]I will sing to Yahweh (BH)throughout my life;
[y]I will (BI)sing praise to my God [z]while I have my being.
34 Let my (BJ)musing be pleasing to Him;
As for me, I shall (BK)be glad in Yahweh.
35 Let sinners be (BL)consumed from the earth
And let the (BM)wicked be no more.
(BN)Bless Yahweh, O my soul.
[aa](BO)Praise Yah!

Isaiah 44

No God Besides Yahweh

44 “But now hear, O Jacob, My (A)servant,
And Israel, whom I have chosen:
Thus says Yahweh who made you
And (B)formed you from the womb, who (C)will help you,
(D)Do not fear, O Jacob My servant,
And you (E)Jeshurun whom I have chosen.
For (F)I will pour out water on [a]the thirsty ground
And streams on the dry land;
I will (G)pour out My Spirit on your (H)seed
And My blessing on your offspring;
And they will spring up [b]among the grass
Like (I)poplars by streams of water.’
This one will say, ‘I am Yahweh’s’;
And this one [c]will call on the name of Jacob;
And this one will (J)write [d]on his hand, ‘Belonging to Yahweh,’
And will name Israel’s name with honor.

“Thus says Yahweh, the (K)King of Israel and his (L)Redeemer, Yahweh of hosts:

‘I am the (M)first, and I am the last,
And there is no God (N)besides Me.
Who is like Me? (O)Let him call out and declare it;
And let him tell it to Me in order,
[e]From the time that I established the ancient [f]people.
And let them declare to them the things that are to come
And the events that are going to take place.
Do not be in dread and do not be afraid;
(P)Have I not long since caused it to be heard to you and declared it?
And (Q)you are My witnesses.
Is there any God (R)besides Me,
Or is there any other (S)Rock?
I know of none.’”

The Futility of Idolatry

Those who form [g]a graven image are all of them [h]futile, and their desirable things are of no profit; even their own witnesses fail to see or know, so that they will be (T)put to shame. 10 Who has formed a god or cast a graven image to (U)no profit? 11 Behold, all his companions will be (V)put to shame. The craftsmen themselves are mere men. Let them all assemble themselves, let them stand up, let them be in dread, let them together be put to shame.

12 The (W)man crafts iron into a cutting tool and does his work over the coals, [i]forming it with hammers and working it with his powerful arm. He also gets hungry and has no power; he drinks no water and becomes weary. 13 (X)Another crafts wood, he extends a measuring line; he outlines it with [j]a stylus. He makes it with planes and outlines it with a compass and makes it like the form of a man, like the glory of (Y)man, so that it may sit in a (Z)house. 14 In order to cut cedars for himself, he takes a [k]cypress or an oak and [l]raises it for himself among the trees of the forest. He plants a fir, and the rain makes it grow. 15 Then it becomes something for a man to burn, so he takes one of them and warms himself; he also kindles a fire to bake bread. He also (AA)works to produce a god and worships it; he makes it a graven image and (AB)falls down before it. 16 Half of it he burns in the fire; over this half he eats meat as he roasts a roast and is satisfied. He also warms himself and says, “Aha! I am warm; I have seen the fire.” 17 But the rest of it he (AC)makes into a god, his graven image. He falls down before it and worships; he also (AD)prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god.”

18 They do not (AE)know, nor do they understand, for He has (AF)smeared over their eyes so that they cannot see and their hearts so that they will have no insight. 19 No one causes this to return to his heart, nor is there (AG)knowledge or understanding to say, “I have burned half of it in the fire and also have baked bread over its coals. I roast meat and eat it. Then [m]I make the rest of it into an (AH)abomination; [n]I fall down before a block of wood!” 20 He [o](AI)feeds on ashes; a (AJ)deceived heart has turned him aside. And he cannot deliver his soul, and he cannot say, “(AK)Is there not a lie in my right hand?”

Yahweh Forgives and Redeems

21 (AL)Remember these things, O Jacob,
And Israel, for you are (AM)My servant;
I have formed you, you are My servant;
O Israel, you will (AN)not be forgotten by Me.
22 I have (AO)wiped out your transgressions like a thick cloud
And your sins like a cloud.
(AP)Return to Me, for I have (AQ)redeemed you.”
23 (AR)Shout for joy, O heavens, for Yahweh has done it!
Make a loud shout, you lower parts of the earth;
(AS)Break forth into a shout of joy, you mountains,
O forest, and every tree in it;
For (AT)Yahweh has redeemed Jacob
And in Israel He (AU)shows forth His beautiful glory.

24 Thus says Yahweh, your (AV)Redeemer, and the one who (AW)formed you from the womb,

“I, Yahweh, am the maker of all things,
(AX)Stretching out the heavens by Myself
And spreading out the earth [p]all alone,
25 (AY)Causing the [q]omens of boasters to be annulled,
And [r]making fools out of diviners,
(AZ)Causing wise men to turn back,
And [s]making foolishness out of their knowledge,
26 (BA)Confirming the word of His servant—
And the counsel of His messengers He will complete—
And being the One who says of Jerusalem, ‘She shall be inhabited!’
And of the (BB)cities of Judah, ‘(BC)They shall be built.’
And I will raise up her waste places again.
27 It is I who says to the depth of the sea, ‘Be dried up!’
And I will make your rivers (BD)dry.
28 It is I who says of (BE)Cyrus, ‘He is My shepherd!
And all My good pleasure he will complete.’
And saying of Jerusalem, ‘(BF)She will be built,’
And of the temple, ‘[t]Your foundation will be laid.’”

Revelation 14

The Lamb and the 144,000

14 Then I looked, and behold, (A)the Lamb was standing on (B)Mount Zion, and with Him (C)144,000, having (D)His name and the (E)name of His Father written (F)on their foreheads. And I heard a voice from heaven, like (G)the sound of many waters and like the (H)sound of loud thunder, and the voice which I heard was like the sound of (I)harpists playing on their harps. And they *[a]sang (J)a new song before the throne and before the (K)four living creatures and the (L)elders. And (M)no one could learn that song except the (N)144,000 who had been (O)purchased from the earth. (P)These are the ones who are not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who (Q)follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These have been (R)purchased from among men (S)as first fruits to God and to the Lamb. And (T)no lie was found in their mouth; they are (U)blameless.

The Messages of the Three Angels

Then I saw another angel flying in (V)midheaven, having (W)an eternal gospel to proclaim to (X)those who [b]inhabit the earth, and to (Y)every nation and tribe and tongue and people. And he said with a loud voice, “(Z)Fear God, and (AA)give Him glory, because the hour of His judgment has come; worship Him who (AB)made the heaven and the earth and sea and (AC)springs of waters.”

And another angel, a second one, followed, saying, “[c](AD)Fallen, fallen is (AE)Babylon the great, she who has (AF)made all the nations drink of the (AG)wine of the wrath of her [d]sexual immorality.”

Then another angel, a third one, followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone (AH)worships the beast and his (AI)image, and receives a (AJ)mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 and he also will drink of the (AK)wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed [e]in full strength (AL)in the cup of His rage, and he will be tormented with (AM)fire and [f]brimstone in the presence of the (AN)holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. 11 And the (AO)smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever; (AP)they have no rest day and night, those who (AQ)worship the beast and his (AR)image, and [g]whoever receives the (AS)mark of his name.” 12 Here is (AT)the perseverance of the saints who (AU)keep the commandments of God and [h](AV)their faith in Jesus.

13 And I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Write, ‘(AW)Blessed are the dead who (AX)die in the Lord from now on!’” “Yes,” (AY)says the Spirit, “so that they may (AZ)rest from their labors, for their (BA)deeds follow with them.”

Reaping the Earth’s Harvest

14 Then I looked, and behold, a (BB)white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one (BC)like [i]a son of man, having a golden (BD)crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand. 15 And another angel (BE)came out of the sanctuary, crying out with a loud voice to Him who sits on the cloud, “[j](BF)Put in Your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the (BG)harvest of the earth [k]is ripe.” 16 Then He who sits on the cloud [l]swung His sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.

17 And another angel (BH)came out of the sanctuary which is in heaven, and he also had a sharp sickle. 18 Then another angel, (BI)the one who has authority over fire, came out from (BJ)the altar; and he called with a loud voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, “[m](BK)Put in your sharp sickle and gather the clusters [n]from the vine of the earth, (BL)because her grapes are ripe.” 19 So the angel [o]swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into (BM)the great wine press of the wrath of God. 20 And (BN)the wine press was trodden (BO)outside the city, and (BP)blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, [p]for a distance of [q]1,600 stadia.
