Book of Common Prayer
Yahweh’s Lovingkindness Endures Forever
118 (A)Give thanks to Yahweh, for (B)He is good;
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
2 Oh let (C)Israel say,
“His lovingkindness endures forever.”
3 Oh let the (D)house of Aaron say,
“His lovingkindness endures forever.”
4 Oh let those (E)who [a]fear Yahweh say,
“His lovingkindness endures forever.”
5 From my (F)distress I called upon Yah;
Yah answered me and (G)set me in a large place.
6 Yahweh is (H)for me; I will (I)not fear;
(J)What can man do to me?
7 Yahweh is for me (K)among those who help me;
Therefore I will (L)look in triumph on those who hate me.
8 It is (M)better to take refuge in Yahweh
Than to trust in man.
9 It is (N)better to take refuge in Yahweh
Than to trust in nobles.
10 All nations (O)surrounded me;
In the name of Yahweh I will surely (P)cut them off.
11 They (Q)surrounded me, indeed, they surrounded me;
In the name of Yahweh I will surely cut them off.
12 They surrounded me (R)like bees;
They were extinguished as a (S)fire of thorns;
In the name of Yahweh I will surely cut them off.
13 You (T)pushed me down violently to make me fall,
But Yahweh (U)helped me.
14 (V)Yah is my strength and song,
And He has become (W)my salvation.
15 The sound of (X)joyful shouting and salvation is in the tents of the righteous;
The (Y)right hand of Yahweh does valiantly.
16 The (Z)right hand of Yahweh is exalted;
The right hand of Yahweh does valiantly.
17 I (AA)will not die; indeed I will live,
And (AB)recount the works of Yah.
18 Yah has (AC)disciplined me severely,
But He has (AD)not given me over to death.
19 (AE)Open to me the gates of righteousness;
I shall enter through them, I shall give thanks to Yah.
20 This is the gate of Yahweh;
The (AF)righteous will enter through it.
21 I shall give thanks to You, for You have (AG)answered me,
And You have (AH)become my salvation.
22 The (AI)stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief corner stone.
23 This is from Yahweh;
It is marvelous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which Yahweh has made;
Let us (AJ)rejoice and be glad in it.
25 O Yahweh, (AK)save!
O Yahweh, (AL)succeed!
26 (AM)Blessed is the one who comes in the name of Yahweh;
We have (AN)blessed you from the house of Yahweh.
27 (AO)Yahweh is God, and He has given us (AP)light;
Bind the festival sacrifice with cords [b]to the (AQ)horns of the altar.
28 (AR)You are my God, and I give thanks to You;
You are my God, (AS)I exalt You.
29 (AT)Give thanks to Yahweh, for He is good;
For His lovingkindness endures forever.

7 “Before she was in labor pains, (A)she gave birth;
Before her pangs came, (B)she delivered a male child.
8 (C)Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things?
Can a land be [a]brought forth through labor pains in one day?
Can a nation be born all at once?
As soon as Zion was in labor pains, she also gave birth to her sons.
9 Shall I bring to the point of breaking forth and (D)not cause birth?” says Yahweh.
“Or shall I who causes birth shut the womb?” says your God.
Joy in Jerusalem’s Future
10 “Be (E)glad with Jerusalem and rejoice for her, all you who (F)love her;
Be exceedingly (G)joyful with her, all you who mourn over her,
11 That you may nurse and (H)be satisfied with her comforting breasts,
That you may suck and be delighted with her (I)bountiful bosom.”
12 For thus says Yahweh, “Behold, I stretch out (J)peace to her like a river,
And the (K)glory of the nations like an overflowing stream;
And you will [b]be nursed; you will be (L)carried on the [c]hip and played with on the knees.
13 As one whom his mother comforts, so I will (M)comfort you;
And you will be comforted in Jerusalem.”
14 Then you will (N)see this, and your (O)heart will be joyful,
And your (P)bones will flourish like the new grass;
And the (Q)hand of Yahweh will be made known to His slaves,
But He will be (R)indignant toward His enemies.
4 Everyone who does sin also does lawlessness; and (A)sin is lawlessness. 5 And you know that He (B)was manifested in order to (C)take away sins, and (D)in Him there is no sin. 6 No one who abides in Him (E)sins; no one who sins has seen Him or [a](F)has come to know Him. 7 (G)Little children, let no one (H)deceive you. (I)The one who does righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. 8 The one who does sin is (J)of the devil, because the devil sins from the beginning. (K)The Son of God (L)was manifested for this purpose, (M)to destroy the works of the devil. 9 Everyone who has been [b](N)born of God (O)does not sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been [c]born of God. 10 By this the (P)children of God and the (Q)children of the devil are manifested: everyone who does not do righteousness is not of God, as well as the one who (R)does not love his (S)brother.
7 So Jesus said to them again, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am (A)the door of the sheep. 8 All who came before Me are (B)thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 (C)I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they (D)may have life, and [a]have it abundantly.
11 “(E)I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd (F)lays down His life for the sheep. 12 He who is a hired hand, and not a (G)shepherd, who is not the owner of the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees—and the wolf snatches and scatters them— 13 because he is a hired hand and is not concerned about the sheep. 14 (H)I am the good shepherd, and (I)I know My own and My own know Me, 15 even as (J)the Father knows Me and I know the Father; and (K)I lay down My life for the sheep. 16 And I have (L)other sheep, which are not from this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become (M)one flock with (N)one shepherd.
