Book of Common Prayer

The (C)desire of the wicked will perish.
Who Is like Yahweh Our God?
113 [a]Praise Yah!
(D)Praise, O (E)slaves of Yahweh,
Praise the name of Yahweh.
2 (F)May the name of Yahweh be blessed
From now until forever.
3 (G)From the rising of the sun to its setting
The (H)name of Yahweh is to be praised.
4 Yahweh is (I)high above all nations;
His (J)glory is above the heavens.
5 (K)Who is like Yahweh our God,
The One who (L)sits on high,
6 The One who [b](M)brings Himself low to see
The things in heaven and on the earth?
7 Who (N)raises the poor from the dust
And lifts high the needy from the ash heap,
8 To make them (O)sit with [c]nobles,
With the [d]nobles of His people.
9 He (P)makes the barren woman of the house sit
As a glad mother of children.
[e]Praise Yah!
Go to the House of Yahweh
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
122 I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us (A)go to the house of Yahweh.”
2 Our feet are standing
Within your (B)gates, O Jerusalem,
3 Jerusalem, which is (C)built
As a city (D)joined altogether;
4 To which the tribes, the tribes of Yah, (E)go up—
A testimony for Israel—
To give thanks to the name of Yahweh.
5 For there, (F)thrones sit for judgment,
The thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the (G)peace of Jerusalem:
“May they prosper who (H)love you.
7 May peace be within your (I)walls,
And tranquility within your (J)palaces.”
8 For the sake of my (K)brothers and my friends,
I will now say, “(L)May peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of Yahweh our God,
I will (M)seek your good.
20 Now it happened [a]in due time that Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, “(A)Because I have asked him of Yahweh.”
21 Then the man Elkanah (B)went up with all his household to offer to Yahweh the yearly sacrifice and pay his vow. 22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “I will not go up until the young boy is weaned; then I will (C)bring him, that he may appear before Yahweh and (D)stay there forever.” 23 (E)And Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what is good in your eyes. Remain until you have weaned him; only (F)may Yahweh establish His word.” So the woman remained and nursed her son until she weaned him. 24 Now when she had weaned him, (G)she took him up with her, with a three-year-old bull and one [b]ephah of flour and a jug of wine and brought him to (H)the house of Yahweh in Shiloh, although the boy was young. 25 Then (I)they slaughtered the bull and (J)brought the young boy to Eli. 26 And she said, “Oh, my lord! (K)As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you, praying to Yahweh. 27 (L)For this young boy I prayed, and Yahweh has given me my petition which I asked of Him. 28 (M)So I have also [c]dedicated him to Yahweh; as long as he lives, he is [d]dedicated to Yahweh.” So (N)he worshiped Yahweh there.
14 For as many as are (A)being led by the Spirit of God, these are (B)sons of God. 15 For you (C)have not received a spirit of slavery [a]leading to fear again, but you (D)have received the Spirit of adoption as sons by whom we cry out, “(E)Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself (F)testifies with our spirit that we are (G)children of God, 17 and if children, also (H)heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, (I)if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.
Present Suffering and Future Glory
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (J)are not worthy to be compared with the (K)glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the (L)anxious longing of the creation eagerly waits for (M)the revealing of the (N)sons of God. 20 For the creation (O)was subjected to (P)futility, not willingly, but (Q)because of Him who subjected it, in hope 21 [b]that (R)the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God.
