New English Translation (NET)
Version
Psalm 61

Psalm 61[a]

For the music director, to be played on a stringed instrument; written by David.

61 O God, hear my cry for help.
Pay attention to my prayer.
From the remotest place on earth[b]
I call out to you in my despair.[c]
Lead me[d] up to a rocky summit where I can be safe.[e]
Indeed,[f] you are[g] my shelter,
a strong tower that protects me from the enemy.[h]
I will be a permanent guest in your home;[i]
I will find shelter in the protection of your wings.[j] (Selah)
For you, O God, hear my vows;
you grant me the reward that belongs to your loyal followers.[k]
Give the king long life.
Make his lifetime span several generations.[l]
May he reign[m] forever before God.
Decree that your loyal love and faithfulness should protect him.[n]
Then I will sing praises to your name continually,[o]
as I fulfill[p] my vows day after day.

2 Kings 5:19-27

19 Elisha[a] said to him, “Go in peace.”

When he had gone a short distance,[b] 20 Gehazi, the prophet Elisha’s servant, thought,[c] “Look, my master did not accept what this Syrian Naaman offered him.[d] As certainly as the Lord lives, I will run after him and accept something from him.” 21 So Gehazi ran after Naaman. When Naaman saw someone running after him, he got down from his chariot to meet him and asked, “Is everything all right?”[e] 22 He answered, “Everything is fine.[f] My master sent me with this message, ‘Look, two servants of the prophets just arrived from the Ephraimite hill country.[g] Please give them a talent[h] of silver and two suits of clothes.’” 23 Naaman said, “Please accept two talents of silver.”[i] He insisted, and tied up two talents of silver in two bags, along with two suits of clothes. He gave them to two of his servants and they carried them for Gehazi.[j] 24 When he arrived at the hill, he took them from the servants[k] and put them in the house. Then he sent the men on their way.[l]

25 When he came and stood before his master, Elisha asked him, “Where have you been, Gehazi?” He answered, “Your servant hasn’t been anywhere.” 26 Elisha[m] replied, “I was there in spirit when a man turned and got down from his chariot to meet you.[n] This is not the proper time to accept silver or to accept clothes, olive groves, vineyards, sheep, cattle, and male and female servants.[o] 27 Therefore Naaman’s skin disease will afflict[p] you and your descendants forever!” When Gehazi[q] went out from his presence, his skin was as white as snow.[r]

Ephesians 6:10-20

Exhortations for Spiritual Warfare

10 Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his power. 11 Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand against the schemes[a] of the devil. 12 For our struggle[b] is not against flesh and blood,[c] but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness,[d] against the spiritual forces[e] of evil in the heavens.[f] 13 For this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground[g] on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm therefore, by fastening[h] the belt of truth around your waist,[i] by putting on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 by fitting your[j] feet with the preparation that comes from the good news[k] of peace,[l] 16 and in all of this,[m] by taking up the shield[n] of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation[o] and the sword[p] of the Spirit (which is the word of God). 18 With every prayer and petition, pray[q] at all times in the Spirit, and to this end[r] be alert, with all perseverance and petitions for all the saints. 19 Pray[s] for me also, that I may be given the right words when I begin to speak[t]—that I may confidently make known[u] the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may be able to speak boldly as I ought to speak.
