Read the New Testament in 24 Weeks
The Scroll and the Lamb
5 Then I saw [a]in the right hand of Him who (A)sits on the throne a (B)scroll written inside and on the back, (C)sealed up with seven seals. 2 Then I saw a (D)strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to break its seals?” 3 And no one (E)in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it. 4 Then I was crying greatly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. 5 And one of the elders *said to me, “Stop crying! Behold, the (F)Lion that is (G)from the tribe of Judah, the (H)Root of David, has overcome so as to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
6 Then I saw in the midst of the throne and the four living creatures and in the midst of (I)the elders a (J)Lamb standing, as if (K)slain, having seven (L)horns and (M)seven eyes, which are (N)the seven Spirits of God, sent out into all the earth. 7 And He came and took (O)the scroll out of the right hand of Him who (P)sits on the throne. 8 And when He had taken the scroll, the (Q)four living creatures and the (R)twenty-four elders (S)fell down before the (T)Lamb, each one having a (U)harp and (V)golden bowls full of incense, which are the (W)prayers of the [b]saints. 9 And they *sang a (X)new song, saying,
“(Y)Worthy are You to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were (Z)slain and (AA)purchased for God with Your blood people from (AB)every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
10 And You made them to be a (AC)kingdom and (AD)priests to our God, and they will (AE)reign upon the earth.”
Angels Worship the Lamb
11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels (AF)around the throne and the (AG)living creatures and the (AH)elders; and the number of them was (AI)myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice,
“(AJ)Worthy is the (AK)Lamb that was (AL)slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”
13 And (AM)every created thing which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them, I heard saying,
“To Him who (AN)sits on the throne, and to the (AO)Lamb, (AP)be the blessing and the honor and the glory and the might forever and ever.”
14 And the (AQ)four living creatures kept saying, “(AR)Amen.” And the (AS)elders (AT)fell down and worshiped.
The Seven Seals
6 Then I looked when the (AU)Lamb opened one of the (AV)seven seals, and I heard one of the (AW)four living creatures saying as with a (AX)voice of thunder, “[c]Come.” 2 Then I looked, and behold, a (AY)white horse, and he who sits on it had a bow; and (AZ)a crown was given to him, and he went out (BA)overcoming and to overcome.
3 And when He opened the second seal, I heard the (BB)second living creature saying, “Come.” 4 And another, (BC)a red horse, went out; and to him who sits on it, it was given to him to (BD)take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.
5 And when He opened the third seal, I heard the (BE)third living creature saying, “Come.” Then I looked, and behold, a (BF)black horse; and he who sits on it had a (BG)pair of scales in his hand. 6 And I heard something like a voice in the midst of the (BH)four living creatures saying, “One [d]choinix of wheat for one [e]denarius, and three [f]choinix of barley for one [g]denarius, and (BI)do not harm the oil and the wine.”
7 And when He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the (BJ)fourth living creature saying, “Come.” 8 Then I looked, and behold, a (BK)pale horse; and he who sits on it had the name (BL)Death, and (BM)Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, (BN)to kill with sword and with famine and with [h]pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.
9 And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw (BO)underneath the (BP)altar the (BQ)souls of those who had been slain (BR)because of the word of God, and because of the (BS)witness which they had maintained; 10 and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, “(BT)How long, O (BU)Master, (BV)holy and true? [i]Will You not (BW)judge and avenge our blood on (BX)those who dwell on the earth?” 11 And (BY)a white robe was given to each of them; and it was told to them that they should (BZ)rest for a little while longer, (CA)until the number of their fellow slaves and their brothers who were to be killed even as they had been, would be (CB)completed also.
12 Then I looked when He opened the sixth seal, and there was a great (CC)earthquake; and the (CD)sun became black as (CE)sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; 13 and (CF)the stars of the sky fell to the earth, (CG)as a fig tree casts its unripe figs when shaken by a great wind. 14 (CH)And the sky was split apart like a scroll when it is rolled up, and (CI)every mountain and island were moved out of their places. 15 Then (CJ)the kings of the earth and the great men and the [j]commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man (CK)hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains; 16 and they *(CL)said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the [k]presence of Him (CM)who sits on the throne, and from the [l](CN)wrath of the Lamb, 17 for (CO)the great (CP)day of their [m]wrath has come, and (CQ)who is able to stand?”
