M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
23 1 What men ought not to be admitted to office. 9 What they ought to avoid when they go to war. 15 Of the fugitive servant. 17 To flee all kinds of whoredom. 19 Of usury. 21 Of vows. 24 Of the neighbor’s vine and corn.
1 None that is hurt by bursting, or that hath his privy member cut off, [a]shall enter into the Congregation of the Lord.
2 [b]A bastard shall not enter into the Congregation of the Lord: even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the Congregation of the Lord.
3 (A)The Ammonites and the Moabites shall not enter into the Congregation of the Lord: even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the Congregation of the Lord forever,
4 Because they [c]met you not with bread and water in the way, when ye came out of Egypt, and (B)because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor, of Pethor in Aram-naharaim, to curse thee.
5 Nevertheless, the Lord thy God would not hearken unto Balaam, but the Lord thy God turned the curse to a blessing unto thee, because the Lord thy God loved thee.
6 Thou [d]shall not seek their peace, nor their prosperity all thy days forever.
7 ¶ Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite: for he is thy brother, neither shalt thou abhor an Egyptian, because thou wast a stranger in his land.
8 The children that are begotten [e]of them in their third generation, shall enter into the Congregation of the Lord.
9 ¶ When thou goest out with the host against thine enemies, keep thee then from all wickedness.
10 ¶ If there be among you any that is unclean by that which cometh to him by night, he shall go out of the host, and shall not enter into the host,
11 But at even he shall wash himself with water, and when the sun is down, he shall enter into the host.
12 ¶ Thou shalt have a place also without the host, whither thou shalt [f]resort,
13 And thou shalt have a paddle among thy weapons, and when thou wouldest sit down without, thou shalt dig therewith, and returning, thou shalt [g]cover thine excrements.
14 For the Lord thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp to deliver thee, and to give thee thine enemies before thee: therefore thine host shall be holy, that he see no filthy thing in thee, and turn away from thee.
15 ¶ Thou shalt not [h]deliver the servant unto his master, which is escaped from his master unto thee.
16 He shall dwell with thee, even among you, in what place he shall choose, in one of thy [i]cities where it liketh him best: thou shalt not vex him.
17 ¶ There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a whore keeper of the sons of Israel.
18 ¶ Thou shalt neither bring the [j]hire of a whore, nor the price of a dog into the house of the Lord thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the Lord thy God.
19 ¶ (C)Thou shalt not give to usury to thy brother: as usury of money, usury of meat, usury of anything that is put to usury.
20 Unto a [k]stranger thou mayest lend upon usury, but thou shalt not lend upon usury unto thy brother, that the Lord thy God may [l]bless thee in all that thou settest thine hand to, in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
21 ¶ When thou shalt vow a vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not be slack to pay it: for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee, and so it should be sin unto thee.
22 But when thou abstainest from vowing, it shall be no sin unto thee.
23 That which is gone out of thy lips, thou shalt [m]keep and perform, as thou hast vowed it willingly unto the Lord thy God: for thou hast spoken it with thy mouth.
24 ¶ When thou comest unto [n]thy neighbor’s vineyard, then thou mayest eat grapes at thy pleasure, as much as thou wilt: but thou shalt put none in thy [o]vessel.
25 When thou comest unto thy neighbor’s corn, (D)thou mayest pluck the ears with thine hand, but thou shalt not move a sickle to thy neighbor’s corn.
112 1 He praiseth the felicity of them that fear God, 10 and condemneth the cursed state of the contemners of God.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 Blessed is the man that [a]feareth the Lord, and delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the righteous shall be blessed.
3 [b]Riches and treasures shall be in his house, and his righteousness endureth forever.
4 Unto the [c]righteous ariseth light in darkness: he is merciful and full of compassion and righteous.
5 A good man is merciful, and [d]lendeth, and will measure his affairs by judgment.
6 Surely he shall never be moved: but the righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance.
7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings: for his heart is fixed, and believeth in the Lord.
8 His heart is established: therefore he will not fear, until he see his desire upon his enemies.
9 He hath [e]distributed and given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth forever: his [f]horn shall be exalted with glory.
10 The wicked shall see it, and be angry: he shall gnash with his teeth, and [g]consume away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.
113 1 An exhortation to praise the Lord for his providence 7 in that that contrary to the course of nature he worketh in his Church.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, [h]praise the Name of the Lord.
2 Blessed be the Name of the Lord from henceforth and forever.
3 The Lord’s Name is praised from the rising of the sun, unto the going down of the same.
4 The Lord is high above all [i]nations, and his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like unto the Lord our God, that hath his dwelling on high.
6 Who abaseth himself to behold things in the heavens and in the earth!
7 He raiseth the needy out of the dust, and lifteth up the [j]poor out of the dung,
8 That he may set him with the princes, even with the princes of his people.
9 He maketh the barren woman to dwell with a family, and a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.
50 1 The Jews forsaken for a time. 2 Yet the power of God is not diminished. 5 Christ’s obedience and victory.
1 Thus saith the Lord, Where is that [a]bill of your mother’s divorcement, [b]whom I have cast off? or who is the creditor [c]to whom I sold you? Behold, for your iniquities are ye sold, and because of your transgressions is your mother forsaken.
2 [d]Wherefore came I, and there was no man? I called, and none answered: is mine hand so [e]shortened, that it cannot help? or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea: I make the floods desert; their fish rotteth for want of water, and dieth for thirst.
3 I clothe the heavens with darkness, and make a [f]sack their covering.
4 The Lord God hath given [g]me a tongue of the learned, that I should know to minister a word in time to him that is [h]weary; he will raise me up in the morning, in the morning he will waken mine ear to hear, [i]as the learned.
5 The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned I back.
6 I gave my back unto the [j]smiters, and my cheeks to the nippers: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
7 For the Lord God will help me, therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
8 He is near that justifieth me: who will contend with me? Let us stand together? who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.
9 Behold, the Lord God will help me: who is he that can condemn me? lo, they shall wax old as a garment: the moth shall eat them up.
10 [k]Who is among you that feareth the Lord? let him hear the voice of his servant: he that walketh in darkness and hath no light, let him trust in the Name of the Lord, and stay upon his God.
11 Behold, all you kindle [l]a fire, and are compassed about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks that ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand: ye shall lie down in sorrow.
20 1 The Angel 2 bindeth Satan for a thousand years. 8 Being loosed, he stirreth up Gog and Magog, that is, privy and open enemies against the Saints, 11 but the vengeance of the Lord cutting off their insolency. 12 The books are opened, by which the dead are judged.
1 And [a]I saw an Angel come down from heaven, having the key [b]of the bottomless pit, and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he took the dragon that old serpent, which is the devil and Satan, and he bound him [c]a thousand years:
3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and he shut him up, and sealed the door upon him, that he should deceive the people [d]no more till the thousand years were fulfilled: for after that he must be loosed for [e]a little season.
4 [f]And I saw [g][h]seats: and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them, and I saw the souls of them that were [i]beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which [j]did not worship the beast, neither his image, neither had taken his mark upon their foreheads or on their hands: and they lived, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 [k]But the rest of the dead men [l]shall not live again, until the thousand years be finished: this is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he, that hath part in the first resurrection: for on such the [m]second death hath no power: but they shall be the Priests of God and of Christ, [n]and shall reign with him a thousand years.
7 [o]And when the [p]thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
8 [q]And shall go out to deceive the people, which are in the four quarters of the earth: even (A)Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the Sea.
9 And they went up into the [r]plain of the earth, and they compassed the tents of the Saints about, and the beloved city: but [s]fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
10 [t]And the devil that deceived them, was cast into a lake of fire and brimstone, where that beast and that false prophet are, and shall be tormented even day and night for evermore.
11 [u]And I saw a great [v]white throne, and one that sat on it, [w]from whose face fled away both the earth and heaven, and their place was no more found.
12 And I saw the dead, both great and small stand before [x]God: and the [y]books were opened, and (B)another book was opened, which is the book [z]of life, and the dead were judged of those things, which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 [aa]And the sea gave up her dead, which were in her, and death and hell delivered up the dead, which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 [ab]And death, and hell were cast into the lake of fire: this is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.
