M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
31 2 God maketh Bezalel and Aholiab meet for his work. 13 The Sabbath day is the sign of our sanctification. 18 The Tables written by the finger of God.
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Behold, I [a]have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
3 Whom I have filled with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all [b]workmanship:
4 To find out curious works to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,
5 Also in the art to set stones, and to carve in timber, and to work in all manner of workmanship.
6 And behold, I have joined him with Aholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan, and in the hearts of all that are [c]wise hearted, have I put wisdom to make all that I have commanded thee:
7 That is, the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and the Ark of the Testimony, and the Mercy seat that shall be thereupon, with all instruments of the Tabernacle:
8 Also the Table and the instruments thereof, and the [d]pure Candlestick with all his instruments, and the Altar of perfume:
9 Likewise the Altar of burnt offering with all his instruments, and the Laver with his foot:
10 Also the garments of the ministration, and the holy garment for Aaron the Priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the Priest’s office,
11 And the [e]anointing oil, and sweet perfume for the Sanctuary according to all that I have commanded thee, shall they do.
12 ¶ Afterward the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, and say, [f]Notwithstanding keep ye my Sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you in your generations, that ye may know that I the Lord do sanctify you.
14 (A)Ye shall therefore keep the [g]Sabbath: for it is holy unto you: he that defileth it, shall die the death: therefore whosoever worketh therein, the same person shall be even cut off from among his people.
15 Six days shall men work, but in the seventh day is the Sabbath of the holy rest to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the Sabbath day, shall die the death.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, that they may observe the [h]rest throughout their generations for an everlasting Covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever: (B)for in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, and in the seventh day [i]he ceased and rested.
18 Thus (when the Lord had made an end of communing with Moses upon mount Sinai) (C)he gave him two Tables [j]of the Testimony, even tables of stone, written with the finger of God.
10 1 Christ proveth that the Pharisees are the evil shepherds, 8 and by many reasons, that himself 11, 14 is the good shepherd: 19 And thereof dissension ariseth. 31 They take up stones, 39 and go about to take him, but he escapeth.
1 Verily, [a]verily I say unto you, He that entereth not in by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up another way, he is a thief and a robber.
2 But he that goeth in by the door, is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the [b]porter openeth, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he hath sent forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And they will not follow a stranger, but they flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
6 This [c]parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily I say unto you, I am that door of the sheep.
8 [d]All that [e]ever came before me, are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
9 [f]I am that door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall [g]go in, and go out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and have it in abundance.
11 (A)I am that good shepherd: that good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.
12 But an hireling, and he which is not the shepherd, neither the sheep are his own, seeth the wolf coming, and he leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 So the hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
14 I am that good shepherd, and know mine, and am known of mine.
15 As the Father [h]knoweth me, so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep.
16 [i]Other sheep I have also, which are not of this fold: them also must I bring, and they shall hear my voice: and (B)there shall be [j]one sheepfold, and one shepherd.
17 [k]Therefore doth my Father love me, because (C)[l]I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself: I have power to lay it down, and have power to take it again: this (D)commandment have I received of my Father.
19 ¶ [m]Then there was a dissension again among the Jews for these sayings.
20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad: why hear ye him?
21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil: can the devil open the eyes of the blind?
22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the [n]Dedication, and it was winter.
23 [o]And Jesus walked in the Temple, in Solomon’s porch.
24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be that Christ, tell us plainly.
25 [p]Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believe not: the works that I do in my Father’s Name, they bear witness of me.
26 [q]But ye believe not: [r]for ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me,
28 And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of mine hand.
29 My Father which gave them me, is greater than all, and none is able to take them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
31 (E)[s]Then the Jews again took up stones, to stone him.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I showed you from my [t]Father: for which of these works do ye stone me?
33 The Jews answered him, saying, For the good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy, and that thou being a man, makest thyself God.
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your Law, (F)I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God was given, and the Scripture cannot be [u]broken,
36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am the Son of God?
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
38 But if I do, then though ye believe not me, yet believe the works, that ye may know and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
39 [v]Again they went about to take him: but he escaped out of their hands,
40 And went again beyond Jordan, into the place where John first baptized, and there abode.
41 And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man, were true.
42 And many believed in him there.
7 1 An exhortation to wisdom and to the word of God. 5 Which will preserve us from the harlot, 6 Whose manners are described.
1 My son keep my words, and hide my commandments with thee.
2 Keep my commandments, and thou shalt live, and mine instruction, as the [a]apple of thine eyes.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, and write them upon the table of thine heart.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister, and call understanding thy kinswoman,
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, even from the strange that is smooth in her words.
6 ¶ [b]As I was in the window of mine house, I looked through my window,
7 And I saw among the fools, and considered among the children a young man destitute of understanding,
8 Who passed through the street by her corner, and went toward her house,
9 In the twilight in the evening, when the night began to be [c]black and dark.
10 And behold, there met him a woman with an harlot’s [d]behavior, and [e]subtle in heart.
11 (She [f]is babbling and loud, whose feet cannot abide in her house.
12 Now she is without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner)
13 So she caught him and kissed him, and [g]with an impudent face said unto him,
14 I have [h]peace offerings: this [i]day have I paid my vows.
15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, that I might seek thy face: and I have found thee.
16 I have decked my bed with ornaments, [j]carpets and laces of Egypt.
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us take our pleasure in dalliance.
19 For mine husband is not at home: he is gone a journey far off.
20 He hath taken [k]with him a bag of silver, and will come home at the day appointed.
21 Thus with her great craft she caused him to yield, and with her flattering lips she enticed him.
22 And he followed her straightway, as an [l]ox that goeth to the slaughter, and [m]as a fool to the stocks for correction,
23 Till a dart strike through his liver, as a bird hasteth to the snare, not knowing that [n]he is in danger.
24 ¶ Hear me now therefore, O children, and hearken to the words of my mouth.
25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways: wander thou not in her paths.
26 For she hath caused many to fall down wounded, and the [o]strong men are all slain by her.
27 Her house is the way (A)unto the grave, which goeth down to the chambers of death.
6 1 Now he entreateth particularly of charity toward such as offend, 6 toward the Minsters of the word, 10 and those that are of the household of faith: 12 Not like unto such who have a counterfeit zeal of the Law, 13 glorying in the mangling of the flesh, 14 and not in the cross of Christ.
1 Brethren, [a]If a man be [b]suddenly taken in any offense, ye which are [c]spiritual, [d]restore such one with the [e]spirit of meekness, [f]considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
2 [g]Bear ye one another’s burden, and so fulfill the [h]Law of Christ.
3 For if any man seem to himself, that he is somewhat, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself in his imagination.
4 But let every man prove his own work: and then shall he have rejoicing in himself only and not in another.
5 (A)[i]For every man shall bear his own burden.
6 [j]Let him that is taught in the word, make him that hath taught him, partaker of [k]all his (B)goods.
7 [l]Be not deceived: God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his [m]flesh, shall of the flesh reap corruption: but he that soweth to the spirit, shall of the spirit reap life everlasting.
9 (C)[n]Let us not therefore be weary of well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
10 [o]While we have therefore time, let us do good unto all men, but especially unto them, which are of the household of faith.
11 ¶ [p]Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.
12 As many as desire to make a [q]fair show in the [r]flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised, only because they would not suffer persecution for the [s]cross of Christ.
13 For they themselves which are circumcised keep not the Law, but desire to have you circumcised, that they might rejoice in [t]your flesh.
14 [u]But God forbid that I should [v]rejoice, but in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, whereby the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace shall be upon them, and mercy, and upon the [w]Israel of God.
17 [x]From henceforth let no man put me to business: for I bear, in my body the [y]marks of the [z]Lord Jesus.
18 [aa]Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your [ab]spirit, Amen.
