M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
20 ¶ And the LORD spoke unto Joshua, saying,
2 Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, Appoint the cities of refuge, of which I spoke unto you by the hand of Moses,
3 so that the manslayer who kills any person in error and without knowledge may flee there, and they shall be your refuge from the avenger {Heb. redeemer} of blood.
4 And he that flees unto one of these cities shall present himself at the entering of the gate of the city and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city; they shall receive him into the city among them and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
5 And when the avenger {Heb. redeemer} of blood pursues after him, they shall not deliver the manslayer up into his hand because he smote his neighbour by error, nor did he have enmity with him before.
6 And he shall dwell in that city until he stands before the congregation for judgment and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days; then shall the manslayer return, and come unto his own city and unto his own house unto the city from where he fled.
7 ¶ Then they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in the mountain of Naphtali and Shechem in the mountain of Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.
8 And on the other side of the Jordan of Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
9 These were the cities appointed for all the sons of Israel and for the stranger that sojourns among them that anyone who kills any person by error might flee there and not die by the hand of the avenger {Heb. redeemer} of blood until he stands before the congregation.
21 ¶ Then the heads of the fathers of the Levites came near unto Eleazar the priest and unto Joshua, the son of Nun, and unto the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the sons of Israel;
2 and they spoke unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in with the suburbs thereof for our beasts.
3 Then the sons of Israel gave unto the Levites out of their possessions, according to the word of the LORD, these cities and their suburbs.
4 And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites; and the sons of Aaron the priest, who were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah and out of the tribe of Simeon and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities.
5 And the rest of the sons of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim and out of the tribe of Dan and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities.
6 And the sons of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar and out of the tribe of Asher and out of the tribe of Naphtali and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities.
7 The sons of Merari by their families had out of the tribe of Reuben and out of the tribe of Gad and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities.
8 Thus the sons of Israel gave by lot unto the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD had commanded by the hand of Moses.
9 ¶ And they gave out of the tribe of the sons of Judah and out of the tribe of the sons of Simeon these cities which are here mentioned by name;
10 and the first lot was of the sons of Aaron, of the family of Kohath, of the sons of Levi;
11 and they gave them the city of Arba of the father of Anak, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah, with its suburbs round about.
12 But the fields of the city and the villages thereof, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession.
13 Thus they gave to the sons of Aaron the priest Hebron with its suburbs, to be a city of refuge for manslayers and Libnah with its suburbs
14 and Jattir with its suburbs and Eshtemoa with its suburbs
15 and Holon with its suburbs and Debir with its suburbs
16 and Ain with its suburbs and Juttah with its suburbs and Bethshemesh with its suburbs: nine cities out of those two tribes.
17 And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with its suburbs, Geba with its suburbs,
18 Anathoth with its suburbs, and Almon with its suburbs: four cities.
19 All these cities of the priests, the sons of Aaron, are thirteen cities with their suburbs.
20 But the families of the sons of Kohath, Levites, those who remained of the sons of Kohath, received cities by lot out of the tribe of Ephraim.
21 For they gave them Shechem with its suburbs in the mountain of Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for manslayers, and Gezer with its suburbs,
22 Kibzaim with its suburbs, Bethhoron with its suburbs: four cities.
23 And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with its suburbs, Gibbethon with its suburbs,
24 Aijalon with its suburbs, Gathrimmon with its suburbs: four cities.
25 And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with its suburbs and Gathrimmon with its suburbs: two cities.
26 All the cities were ten with their suburbs for the remaining families of the sons of Kohath.
27 And unto the sons of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with its suburbs, to be a city of refuge for manslayers, and Beeshterah with its suburbs: two cities.
28 And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with its suburbs, Dabareh with its suburbs,
29 Jarmuth with its suburbs, Engannim with its suburbs: four cities.
30 And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with its suburbs, Abdon with its suburbs,
31 Helkath with its suburbs, and Rehob with its suburbs: four cities.
32 And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with its suburbs, to be a city of refuge for manslayers, and Hammothdor with its suburbs and Kartan with its suburbs: three cities.
33 All the cities of those of Gershon according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs.
34 And unto the families of the sons of Merari, Levites that remained, out of the tribe of Zebulun they gave them, Jokneam with its suburbs and Kartah with its suburbs,
35 Dimnah with its suburbs, Nahalal with its suburbs: four cities.
36 And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer and Jahazah,
37 Kedemoth, and Mephaath: four cities.
38 And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with its suburbs, to be a city of refuge for manslayers; and Mahanaim with its suburbs,
39 Heshbon with its suburbs, Jazer with its suburbs; four cities in all.
40 So all the cities for the sons of Merari by their families, who remained of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities.
41 All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the sons of Israel were forty-eight cities with their suburbs.
42 Each one of these cities were separated with their suburbs round about them; thus were all these cities.
43 ¶ Thus the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he swore to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it and dwelt therein.
44 And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he had sworn unto their fathers; and none of their enemies could stand before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hands.
45 There failed not a word of all the good things which the LORD had spoken unto the house of Israel; all of it came to pass.
1 ¶ The former treatise I have made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
2 until the day in which, having given commandments by the Holy Spirit unto the apostles whom he had chosen, he was received on high;
3 unto whom he also showed himself alive, after he had suffered, by many infallible proofs, appearing unto them for forty days and speaking to them of the kingdom of God;
4 and gathering them together, he commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, Which, he said, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized in water, but ye shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
6 ¶ Then those that were come together asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put under his authority only.
8 But ye shall receive the virtue of the Holy Spirit which shall come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,
11 who also said, Ye men of Galilee, what do ye stand gazing at up into heaven? This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
12 ¶ Then they returned unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day’s journey.
13 And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where Peter and James and John and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James were.
14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
15 ¶ And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples and said (the number of names together were about one hundred and twenty),
16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, who was guide to those that took Jesus.
17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained a lot or inheritance of this ministry.
18 He, therefore, purchased a field with the reward of his iniquity; and hanging himself, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.
19 And it was known unto all the dwellers of Jerusalem, in such a manner that the field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood.
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no one dwell therein, and let another take his office.
21 It behooves, therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
22 beginning from the baptism of John unto that same day that he was received on high from among us, that one must be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24 And they prayed and said, Thou, Lord, who knowest the hearts of everyone, show which of these two thou hast chosen,
25 that he may take the lot or inheritance of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas rebelled that he might go to his own place.
26 And they gave forth their lots, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
10 ¶ Hear ye the word which the LORD has spoken over you, O house of Israel:
2 Thus hath the LORD said, Do not learn the way of the Gentiles, and do not fear the signs of heaven, even though the Gentiles fear them.
3 For the customs of the peoples are vanity: for one cuts a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with hammer and nails, that it not move.
5 They compare them to the palm tree, and they do not speak: they must be carried, because they cannot walk. Do not be afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither do they have power to do good.
6 Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.
7 Who would not fear thee, O King of the Gentiles? for unto thee does it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the Gentiles and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee.
8 But they shall become altogether carnal and foolish. The stock is a doctrine of vanities.
9 Silver spread into plates shall be brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, shall the workman work and the hands of the founder: they shall dress them in blue and purple: they are all the work of cunning men.
10 But the LORD God is the Truth, he himself is Living God and Everlasting King: at his wrath the earth trembles, and the Gentiles shall not be able to abide his indignation.
11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens or the earth, even they shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens.
12 He that makes the earth by his power, he that orders the world with his wisdom and extends the heavens with his intelligence:
13 at his voice, there is given a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causes the clouds to ascend from the ends of the earth; he makes the lightnings with the rain and brings forth the wind out of his treasures.
14 Every man is carnal in his knowledge: let every founder be ashamed of his graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no spirit in them.
15 They are vanity and the work of scorn: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.
16 The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the Former of all things, and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of the hosts is his name.
17 ¶ Gather up thy wares out of the lands, O inhabitant of the fortress.
18 For thus hath the LORD said, Behold, that this time I will throw out the inhabitants of the land with a sling and will afflict them, that they may find it.
19 Woe is me for my hurt! my wound is grievous, but I said, Truly this is my sickness, and I must bear it.
20 My tent is destroyed, and all my cords are broken: my sons were taken from me, and they are lost; there is no one to stretch forth my tent any more and to set up my curtains.
21 For the pastors are become carnal and have not sought the LORD; therefore they did not understand, and all their flocks scattered.
22 Behold, the voice of the rumour is come, and a great commotion out of the land of the north wind to make the cities of Judah desolate and a den of dragons.
23 O LORD, I know that man is not the lord of his own way: it is not in man that walks to order his steps.
24 O LORD, chastise me, but with judgment; not with thine anger lest thou bring me to nothing.
25 Pour out thy fury upon the Gentiles that do not know thee and upon the nations that do not call on thy name: for they have eaten up Jacob and devoured him and consumed him and have destroyed his habitation.
24 ¶ And Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and his disciples came to him to show him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the age?
4 ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no one deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars; see that ye be not troubled, for it is necessary that all these things must take place; but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in different places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended and shall betray one another and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.
12 And because lawlessness shall abound, the charity of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come.
15 Therefore, when ye see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, which shall stand in the holy place (whosoever reads, let him understand),
16 then let those who are in Judaea flee into the mountains;
17 let him who is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house,
18 neither let him who is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto those that are with child and to those that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter neither on the sabbath day,
21 for then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And if those days were not shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Behold, here is the Christ, or there, believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders in such a manner that they shall deceive, if possible, the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Therefore if they say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not forth; Behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not.
27 For as the lightning that comes out of the east and shines even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wherever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken,
30 and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven, and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with great power and glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a trumpet and a great voice, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
32 ¶ Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When his branch is yet tender and puts forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh;
33 so likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass until all these things are fulfilled.
35 The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not even the angels of the heavens, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as they were in the days before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark,
39 and they knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left.
42 Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this that if the husband of the house knew in what watch the thief would come, he would watch and would not suffer his house to be broken into.
44 Therefore be ye also ready; the Son of man is to come in the hour that ye think not.
45 Who then is the faithful and prudent slave, whom his lord has made ruler over his household to give them food in due season?
46 Blessed is that slave whom his lord when he comes shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But and if that evil slave shall say in his heart, My lord delays his coming,
49 and shall begin to smite his fellowslaves and even to eat and drink with the drunken,
50 the lord of that slave shall come in a day when he does not look for him and in an hour that he is not aware of
51 and shall cut him off and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
