2 Chronicles 22-23

22 Ahaziah reigneth after Jehoram. 9 Jehu king of Israel killeth Ahaziah. 10 Athaliah putteth to death all the King’s lineage. 11 Joash escapeth.

And (A)the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son King in his stead: for the army that came with [a]the Arabians to the camp, had slain all the eldest: therefore Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.

Two and [b]forty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned [c]one year in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Athaliah the daughter [d]of Omri.

He walked also in the ways of the house of Ahab: for his mother counseled him to do wickedly.

Wherefore he did evil in the sight of the Lord, like the house of Ahab: for they were his [e]counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.

And he walked after their counsel, and went with Jehoram the son of Ahab king of Israel to fight against Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth Gilead: and the Aramites smote Joram.

¶ And he returned to be healed in Jezreel, because of the wounds wherewith they had wounded him at Ramah, when he fought with Hazael king of Aram. Now Azariah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Jehoram the son of Ahab at Jezreel, because he was diseased.

And the destruction of Ahaziah [f]came of God, in that he went to Joram: for when he was come, he went forth with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, (B)whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.

Therefore when Jehu [g]executed judgment upon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah that waited on Ahaziah, he slew them also.

And he sought Ahaziah, and they caught him where he was hid in Samaria, and brought him to Jehu, and slew him and buried him, because said they, he is the son of [h]Jehoshaphat, which sought the Lord with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah was not able to retain the kingdom.

10 (C)Therefore when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and [i]destroyed all the king’s seed of the house of Judah.

11 But Jehoshabeath the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons, that should be slain, and put him and his nurse in the bed chamber: so Jehoshabeath the daughter of king Jehoram the wife of Jehoiada the Priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah) hid him from Athaliah: so she slew him not.

12 And he was with them hid in the [j]house of God six years, while Athaliah reigned over the [k]land.

23 Joash the son of Ahaziah is made king. 15 Athaliah is put to death. 17 The temple of Baal is destroyed. 16 Jehoiada appointeth ministers in the Temple.

And (D)[l]in the seventh year Jehoiada waxed bold, and took the captains of hundreds, to wit, Azariah the son of Jeroham, and Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri in covenant with him.

And they went about in Judah, and gathered the Levites out of all the cities of Judah, and the [m]chief fathers of Israel: and they came to Jerusalem.

And all the congregation made a covenant with the King in the house of God: and he said unto them, Behold, the King’s son must reign, (E)as the Lord hath said of the sons of David.

This is it that ye shall do, The third part of you that come on the Sabbath of the Priests, and the Levites, shall be porters of the doors.

And another third part toward the King’s house, and another third part at the (F)gate of the [n]foundation, and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the Lord.

But let none come into the house of the Lord, save the Priests, and the Levites that minister, they shall go in, for they are holy: but all the people shall keep the watch of the Lord.

And the Levites shall compass the King round about, and every man with his weapon in his hand, and he that entereth [o]into the house, shall be slain, and be you with the king, when he cometh in, and when he goeth out.

¶ So the Levites and all Judah did according to all things that Jehoiada the Priest had commanded, and took every man his men that came on the Sabbath, with them that [p]went out on the Sabbath: for Jehoiada the Priest did not discharge the courses.

And Jehoiada the Priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and shields, and bucklers which had been King David’s, and were in the house of God.

10 And he caused all the people to stand (every man with his weapon in his hand) from the right side of the house, to the left side of the house by the altar and by the [q]house round about the king.

11 Then they brought out the king’s son, and put upon him the crown and gave him the [r]testimony, and made him King. And Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, God save the king.

12 ¶ But when Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the King, she came to the people into the house of the Lord.

13 And when she [s]looked, behold, the king stood by his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the King, and all the people of the land rejoiced, and blew the trumpets, and the singers were with instruments of music, and they that could sing praise: then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, [t]Treason, treason.

14 Then Jehoiada the Priest brought out the captains of hundreds that were governors of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth of the ranges, and he that [u]followeth her, let him die by the sword: for the Priest had said, Slay her not in the house of the Lord.

15 So they laid hands on her: and when she was come to the entering of the horse gate by the king’s house, they slew her there.

16 ¶ And Jehoiada made a [v]covenant between him and all the people, and the king, that they would be the Lord’s people.

17 And all the people went to the house of Baal, and [w]destroyed, and brake his altars and his images, and slew [x]Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.

18 And Jehoiada appointed officers for the house of the Lord, under the [y]hands of the Priests and Levites, whom David had distributed for the house of the Lord, to offer burnt offerings unto the Lord, (G)as it is written in the Law of Moses, with rejoicing and singing by the appointment of David.

19 And he set porters by the gates of the house of the Lord, that none that was unclean in anything, should enter in.

20 And he took the captains of hundreds, and the noble men, and the governors of the people, and all the people of the land, and he caused the king to come down out of the house of the Lord, and they went through the [z]high gate of the king’s house, and set the king upon the throne of the kingdom.

21 Then all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet [aa]after that they had slain Athaliah with the sword.

Revelation 10

10 Another Angel appeareth with a cloud, 2 holding a book open, 3 and crieth out. 8 A voice from heaven commandeth John to take the book. 10 He eateth it.

And [a]I saw [b]another mighty Angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud, and the rainbow upon his head, and his face was as the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire.

And he had in his hand a [c]little book open, and he put his right foot upon the sea, and his left on the earth,

And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

[d]And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: but I heard a voice from heaven, saying unto me, [e]Seal up those things which the seven thunders have spoken, and write them not.

And the Angel which I saw stand upon the sea, and upon the earth, [f]lift up his hand to heaven,

And sware by him that liveth for evermore, which created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things that therein are, [g]that [h]time should be no more.

But in the days of the [i]voice of the seventh Angel, when he shall begin to blow the trumpet, even the mystery of God shall be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the Prophets.

[j]And the voice which I heard from heaven, spake unto me again, and said, Go, and take the little book which is open in the hand of the Angel, which standeth upon the sea, and upon the earth.

So I went unto the Angel, and said to him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up, and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth as sweet as honey.

10 Then I took the little book out of the Angel’s hand, and ate it up, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey: but when I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.

11 [k]And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again among the people and nations, and tongues, and to many Kings.

Zechariah 6

By the four chariots he describeth the four Monarchies.

Again, I turned and lifted up mine eyes, and looked: and behold, there came four [a]chariots out from between [b]two mountains, and the mountains were mountains of brass.

In the first chariot were [c]red horses, and in the second chariot [d]black horses,

And in the third chariot [e]white horses, and in the fourth chariot, horses of [f]divers colors, and reddish.

Then I answered, and said unto the Angel that talked with me, What are these, my Lord?

And the Angel answered, and said unto me, These are the four [g]spirits of the heaven, which go forth from standing with the Lord of all the earth.

That with the black horse went forth into the land of the North, and the white went out after them, and they of divers colors went forth toward the [h]South country.

And the [i]reddish went out, and required to go, and pass through the world, and he said, Go, pass through the world. So they went throughout the world.

Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me, saying, Behold, these that go toward the North country, have pacified my [j]spirit in the North country.

And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

10 Take of them of the captivity, even of Heldai, and of Tobijah, and Jedaiah, which are come from Babel, and come thou the same day, and go unto the house of [k]Josiah, the son of Zephaniah.

11 Take even silver, and gold, and make crowns, and set them upon the [l]head of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak the high Priest,

12 And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the Lord of hosts, and saith, Behold, the man whose name is the [m]Branch, and he shall grow [n]up out of his place, and he shall [o]build the Temple of the Lord.

13 Even he shall build the Temple of the Lord, and he shall bear the [p]glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne, and he shall be a Priest upon his throne, and the counsel of peace shall be between [q]them both.

14 And the crowns shall be to [r]Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to [s]Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a [t]memorial in the Temple of the Lord.

15 And they that are [u]far off, shall come and build in the Temple of the Lord, and ye shall know, that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to pass, if ye will [v]obey the voice of the Lord your God.

John 9

1 Christ giveth sight on the Sabbath day, to him that was born blind. 13 Whom, after he had long reasoned against the Pharisees, 22, 35 and was cast out of the Synagogue, 36 Christ endueth with the knowledge of the everlasting light.

And [a]as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

Jesus answered, [b]Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents, but that the works of God should be showed on him.

[c]I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is [d]day: the night cometh when no man can work.

As long as I am in the world, (A)I am the light of the world.

[e]As soon as he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and anointed the eyes of the blind with the clay,

And said unto him, Go wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore and washed, and came again seeing.

[f]Now the neighbors and they that had seen him before, when he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?

Some said, This is he: and others said, He is like him: but he himself said, I am he.

10 Therefore they said unto him, How were thine eyes [g]opened?

11 He answered, and said, The man that is called Jesus, made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and received sight.

12 Then they said unto him, Where is he? He said, I cannot tell.

13 ¶ They brought to the Pharisees him that was once blind.

14 And it was the Sabbath day, when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.

15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him, how he had received sight. And he said unto them, He laid clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.

16 [h]Then said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the Sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner, do such miracles? and there was a dissension among them.

17 Then spake they unto the blind again, What sayest thou of him, because he hath opened thine eyes? And he said, He is a Prophet.

18 Then the Jews did not believe him (that he had been blind, and received his sight) until they had called the parents of him that had received sight.

19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, whom ye say was born blind? How doth he now see then?

20 His parents answered them, and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:

21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not: or who hath opened his eyes, can we not tell: he is old enough: ask him: he shall answer for himself.

22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had ordained already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be excommunicated out of the Synagogue.

23 Therefore said his parents, He is old enough: ask him.

24 Then again called they the man that had been blind, and said unto him, [i]Give glory unto God: we know that this man is a [j]sinner.

25 Then he answered, and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I cannot tell: one thing I know, that I was blind, and now I see.

26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?

27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye have not heard it: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?

28 [k]Then reviled they him, and said, Be thou his disciple: we be Moses’ disciples.

29 We know that God spake with Moses: but this man we know not from whence he is.

30 The man answered, and said unto them, Doubtless, this is a marvelous thing, that ye know not whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.

31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him heareth he.

32 Since the world began, was it not heard, that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.

33 If this man were not of God, he could have done nothing.

34 They answered, and said unto him, [l]Thou art altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? so they cast him out.

35 [m]Jesus heard that they had cast him out: and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe in the Son of God?

36 He answered, and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe in him?

37 And Jesus said unto him, Both thou hast seen him, and he it is that talketh with thee.

38 Then he said, Lord, I believe, and worshipped him.

39 [n]And Jesus said, I am come unto [o]judgment into this world, that they [p]which see not, might see: and that they (B)which see, might be made blind.

40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him, heard these things, and said unto him, Are we blind also?

41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should not have sin: but now ye say, We see: therefore your sin remaineth.
