M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
36 “Now Bezalel and Oholiab and every person [a]wise at heart, to whom Yahweh has given [b]wisdom and discernment to know how to do all the work of the service of constructing the sanctuary, shall do in accordance with all that Yahweh has commanded.”
Making the Tabernacle
2 Then Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab and every person [c]wise at heart to whom Yahweh had given [d]wisdom, (A)everyone whose heart stirred him, to come to the work to do it. 3 And they received from Moses the entire [e]contribution which the sons of Israel had brought [f]to do the work in the service of the sanctuary. And they still continued bringing to him freewill offerings every morning. 4 And all the [g]wise men who were doing all the work of the sanctuary came, each from [h]the work which [i]he was doing, 5 and they said to [j]Moses, “(B)The people are bringing much more than enough for the service of the work which Yahweh commanded us to [k]do.” 6 So Moses commanded and a [l]proclamation was passed throughout the camp, saying, “Let no man or woman any longer do the work for the [m]contributions of the sanctuary.” Thus the people were restrained from bringing any more. 7 (C)Indeed, the [n]material they had was sufficient and more than enough for all the work, to do it.
8 (D)And all those [o]wise at heart among those who were doing the work made the [p]tabernacle with ten curtains; of fine twisted linen and [q]blue and purple and scarlet material, with cherubim, the work of a skillful designer, [r]Bezalel made them. 9 The length of each curtain was [s]twenty-eight cubits and the width of each curtain four [t]cubits; all the curtains had [u]the same measurements. 10 He [v]joined five curtains to one another, and the other five curtains he [w]joined to one another. 11 He made loops of [x]blue on the edge of the [y]outermost curtain in the first [z]set; he did likewise on the edge of the curtain that was [aa]outermost in the second [ab]set. 12 He made (E)fifty loops in the one curtain, and he made fifty loops on the [ac]edge of the curtain that was in the second [ad]set; the loops were opposite each other. 13 He made (F)fifty clasps of gold and [ae]joined the curtains to one another with the clasps, so the tabernacle was one unit.
14 Then (G)he made curtains of goats’ hair for a tent over the tabernacle; he made eleven curtains [af]in all. 15 The length of each curtain was [ag]thirty cubits and four cubits the width of each curtain; the eleven curtains had [ah]the same measurements. 16 He [ai]joined five curtains by themselves and the other six curtains by themselves. 17 Moreover, he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the first [aj]set, and he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outermost in the second [ak]set. 18 He made fifty clasps of [al]bronze to [am]join the tent together so that it would be [an]a unit. 19 He made a covering for the tent of rams’ skins [ao]dyed red and a covering of porpoise skins above.
20 (H)Then he made the boards for the tabernacle of acacia wood, standing upright. 21 Ten cubits was the length of [ap]each board and one and a half cubits the width of each board. 22 There were two tenons for each board, [aq]fitted to one another; thus he did for all the boards of the tabernacle. 23 And he made the boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards [ar]for the south side; 24 and he made forty bases of silver under the twenty boards; two bases under one board for its two tenons and two bases under another board for its two tenons. 25 Then for the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty boards, 26 and their forty bases of silver; two bases under one board and two bases under another board. 27 For the [as]rear of the tabernacle, to the west, he made six boards. 28 And he made two boards for the corners of the [at]tabernacle at the [au]rear. 29 And they were [av]separated beneath, but were together at their completion at the [aw]top, [ax]at the first ring; thus he did with both of them for the two corners. 30 And there were eight boards with their bases of silver, sixteen bases, two bases under every board.
31 Then he made (I)bars of acacia wood, five for the boards of one side of the tabernacle, 32 and five bars for the boards of the [ay]other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the [az]rear side to the west. 33 And he made the middle bar to pass through in the [ba]center of the boards from end to end. 34 He also overlaid the boards with gold and made their rings of gold as holders for the bars and overlaid the bars with gold.
35 (J)Moreover, he made the veil of [bb]blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen; he made it with cherubim, the work of a skillful designer. 36 And he made four pillars of acacia for it and overlaid them with gold, with their hooks of gold; and he cast four bases of silver for them. 37 And he made a (K)screen for the doorway of the tent, of [bc]blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen, the work of a [bd]weaver; 38 and he made its (L)five pillars with their hooks, and he overlaid their tops and their [be]bands with gold; but their five bases were of [bf]bronze.
I Am the True Vine
15 “(A)I am the true vine, and My Father is the (B)vine-grower. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He [a]cleans it so that it may bear more fruit. 3 (C)You are already [b]clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 (D)Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit from itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he (E)bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is (F)thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, (G)ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 My (H)Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so [c](I)prove to be My disciples. 9 Just as (J)the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. 10 (K)If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as (L)I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 (M)These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your (N)joy may be complete.
Jesus’ Commandment Is Love
12 “This is (O)My commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you. 13 (P)Greater love has no one than this, that one (Q)lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are My (R)friends if (S)you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for (T)all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 (U)You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and (V)bear fruit, and that your fruit would abide, so that (W)whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. 17 This (X)I command you, that you love one another.
If the World Hates You
18 “(Y)If the world hates you, [d]know that it has hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but (Z)I chose you out of the world, (AA)because of this the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘(AB)A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, (AC)they will also persecute you; if they (AD)kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you (AE)for My name’s sake, (AF)because they do not know the One who sent Me. 22 (AG)If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have [e]sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 (AH)If I had not done among them (AI)the works which no one else did, they would not have [f]sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well. 25 But this happened to fulfill the word that is written in their (AJ)Law, ‘(AK)They hated Me without cause.’
26 “When the [g](AL)Advocate comes, (AM)whom I will send to you from the Father, (AN)the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, (AO)He will bear witness about Me, 27 [h]and (AP)you will bear witness also, because you have been with Me (AQ)from the beginning.
12 Whoever loves [a]discipline loves knowledge,
But he who hates reproof is senseless.
2 A (A)good man will obtain favor from Yahweh,
But a man of evil schemes He will condemn.
3 A man will (B)not be established by wickedness,
But the root of the (C)righteous will not be shaken.
4 [b]An (D)excellent wife is the crown of her husband,
But she who causes shame is like (E)rottenness in his bones.
5 The thoughts of the righteous are just,
But the guidance of the wicked is deceitful.
6 The (F)words of the wicked lie in wait for blood,
But the (G)mouth of the upright will deliver them.
7 The (H)wicked are overthrown and are no more,
But the (I)house of the righteous will stand.
8 A man will be praised according to his insight,
But one of perverse heart will be despised.
9 Better is he who is lightly esteemed and has a servant
Than he who honors himself and lacks bread.
10 A (J)righteous man knows the value of the life of his animal,
But even the compassion of the wicked is cruel.
11 He (K)who cultivates his land will be satisfied with bread,
But he who pursues empty things lacks a heart of wisdom.
12 The (L)wicked man desires a stronghold of evil men,
But the root of the righteous (M)gives fruit.
13 The snare of an evil man is in the transgression of his lips,
But the (N)righteous man will come out from distress.
14 A man will be (O)satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth,
And the good (P)deed of a man’s hands will return to him.
15 The (Q)way of an ignorant fool is right in his own eyes,
But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.
16 An (R)ignorant fool’s [c]anger is known at once,
But a prudent man conceals disgrace.
17 He who breathes out truth declares what is right,
But a false witness, deceit.
18 There is one who (S)speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword,
But the (T)tongue of the wise brings healing.
19 Truthful lips will be established forever,
But a (U)lying tongue is only for a moment.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil,
But counselors of peace have gladness.
21 (V)No misfortune befalls the righteous,
But the wicked are filled with calamity.
22 (W)Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh,
But doers of faithfulness are His delight.
23 A (X)prudent man conceals knowledge,
But the heart of fools proclaims folly.
24 The hand of the diligent will rule,
But [d]the slack hand will be (Y)put to forced labor.
25 (Z)Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down,
But a (AA)good word makes it glad.
26 The righteous is a guide to his neighbor,
But the way of the wicked makes them wander about.
27 A slack handed man does not [e]roast his prey,
But the wealth of a man is (AB)precious for the diligent.
28 (AC)In the path of righteousness is life,
And in its pathway there is no death.
Be Imitators of God
5 (A)Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children, 2 and (B)walk in love, just as Christ also (C)loved [a]us and (D)gave Himself up for us, an (E)offering and a sacrifice to God [b]as a (F)fragrant aroma.
3 But (G)sexual immorality [c]or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among [d]saints; 4 nor (H)filthiness and foolish talk, or coarse jesting, which (I)are not fitting, but rather (J)giving of thanks. 5 For this you know with certainty, that (K)no one sexually immoral or impure or greedy, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom (L)of Christ and God.
6 (M)Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things (N)the wrath of God comes upon (O)the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be (P)partakers with them, 8 for (Q)you were formerly (R)darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as (S)children of light 9 (for (T)the fruit of that light consists in all (U)goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 [e](V)trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 (W)And do not participate in the unfruitful (X)works of (Y)darkness, but instead even [f](Z)expose them. 12 For it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things become visible (AA)when they are [g]exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. 14 For this reason [h]it says,
15 Therefore look carefully how you (AE)walk, not (AF)as unwise but as wise, 16 (AG)redeeming the time, because (AH)the days are evil. 17 On account of this, do not be foolish, but (AI)understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And (AJ)do not get drunk with wine, [i]for that is (AK)dissipation, but be (AL)filled with the Spirit, 19 (AM)speaking to [j]one another in (AN)psalms and (AO)hymns and spiritual (AP)songs, (AQ)singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 (AR)always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to [k](AS)God, even the Father; 21 [l](AT)and being subject to one another in the [m](AU)fear of Christ.
Wives and Husbands
22 (AV)Wives, (AW)be subject to your own husbands, (AX)as to the Lord. 23 For (AY)the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the (AZ)head of the church, He Himself (BA)being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.
25 (BB)Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and (BC)gave Himself up for her, 26 (BD)so that He might sanctify her, having (BE)cleansed her by the (BF)washing of water with (BG)the word, 27 that He might (BH)present to Himself the church [n]in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she would be (BI)holy and blameless. 28 So husbands ought also to (BJ)love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself; 29 for no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ also does the church, 30 because we are (BK)members of His (BL)body. 31 (BM)For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. 32 This mystery is great, but I am speaking with reference to Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to (BN)love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she [o](BO)respects her husband.
