2 Chronicles 36

Joahaz Reigns over Judah

36 (A)Then the people of the land took [a](B)Joahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in place of his father in Jerusalem. [b]Joahaz was twenty-three years old when he became king, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. Then the king of Egypt had him removed in Jerusalem and imposed on the land a fine of one hundred [c]talents of silver and one talent of gold. Then the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and changed his name to Jehoiakim. But (C)Neco took Joahaz his brother and brought him to Egypt.

Jehoiakim Reigns over Judah

(D)Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and he did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh his God. Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up (E)against him and (F)bound him with bronze chains to lead him off to Babylon. (G)Nebuchadnezzar also brought some of the articles of the house of Yahweh to Babylon and put them in his temple at Babylon. (H)Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim and [d]the abominations which he did, and what was found against him, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. And Jehoiachin his son became king in his place.

Jehoiachin Reigns over Judah

(I)Jehoiachin was eight years old when he became king, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem, and he did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh. 10 (J)And at the turn of the year King Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon with the valuable articles of the house of Yahweh, and he made his relative (K)Zedekiah king over Judah and Jerusalem.

Zedekiah Reigns over Judah

11 (L)Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. 12 And he did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh his God; (M)he did not humble himself (N)before Jeremiah the prophet who spoke from the mouth of Yahweh. 13 (O)He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar who had made him swear allegiance by God. But (P)he stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to Yahweh, the God of Israel. 14 Furthermore, all the leaders of the priests and the people were very unfaithful following all the abominations of the nations; and they defiled the house of Yahweh which He had set apart as holy in Jerusalem.

The Chaldeans Destroy Jerusalem

15 And Yahweh, the God of their fathers, (Q)sent word to them [e]again and again by the hand of His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His habitation; 16 but they continually (R)mocked the messengers of God, (S)despised His words and scoffed at His prophets, (T)until the wrath of Yahweh arose against His people, until there was no remedy. 17 (U)Therefore He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans who killed their choice men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on choice man or virgin, old man or infirm; He gave them all into his hand. 18 (V)And all the articles of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the king and of his officials, he brought them all to Babylon. 19 Then (W)they burned the house of God and tore down the wall of Jerusalem, and burned all its palaces with fire and destroyed all its valuable articles. 20 And those who had escaped from the sword he (X)took away into exile to Babylon; and (Y)they were slaves to him and to his sons until the rule of the kingdom of Persia, 21 (Z)to fulfill the word of Yahweh by the mouth of Jeremiah, until (AA)the land had made up for its sabbaths. (AB)All the days of its desolation it kept sabbath [f](AC)until seventy years were fulfilled.

The Proclamation of Cyrus

22 (AD)Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia—in order to complete the word of Yahweh (AE)by the mouth of Jeremiah—Yahweh (AF)stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so that he had a proclamation pass throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying, 23 “Thus says Cyrus king of Persia,

‘Yahweh, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and He has appointed me to build Him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Whoever there is among you of all His people, may Yahweh his God be with him, and let him go up!’”

Revelation 22

The River and the Tree of Life

22 Then (A)he showed me a (B)river of the (C)water of life, bright (D)as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of [a]the Lamb, in the middle of (E)its street. (F)On either side of the river was (G)the tree of life, bearing twelve [b]kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (H)And there will no longer be any curse; and (I)the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His slaves will (J)serve Him; and they will (K)see His face, and His (L)name will be on their (M)foreheads. And (N)there will no longer be any night, and they [c]will not have need (O)of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illumine them, and they will (P)reign forever and ever.

And (Q)he said to me, “(R)These words are faithful and true”; and the Lord, the (S)God of the spirits of the prophets, (T)sent His angel to show to His slaves the things which must soon take place.

“And behold, (U)I am coming quickly. (V)Blessed is he who keeps (W)the words of the prophecy of this book.”

(X)I, John, am the one who was hearing and seeing these things. And when I heard and saw, (Y)I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things. But (Z)he *said to me, “[d]Do not do that! I am a (AA)fellow slave with you and your brothers the prophets and with those who keep the words of (AB)this book. Worship God!”

The Final Message: Come

10 And he *said to me, “(AC)Do not seal up (AD)the words of the prophecy of this book, (AE)for the time is near. 11 (AF)Let the one who does unrighteousness, still do unrighteousness; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy; and let the one who is righteous, still do righteousness; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy.”

12 “Behold, (AG)I am coming quickly, and My (AH)reward is with Me, (AI)to render to every man [e]according to his work. 13 I am the (AJ)Alpha and the Omega, (AK)the first and the last, (AL)the beginning and the end.”

14 Blessed are those who (AM)wash their robes, so that they may have the authority to (AN)the tree of life and may (AO)enter by the (AP)gates into the city. 15 (AQ)Outside are the (AR)dogs and the sorcerers and the sexually immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

16 (AS)I, Jesus, sent (AT)My angel to bear witness to you of these things [f](AU)for the churches. I am (AV)the root and the (AW)descendant of David, the bright (AX)morning star.”

17 And the (AY)Spirit and the (AZ)bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And (BA)let the one who is thirsty come. Let the one who wishes receive the (BB)water of life without cost.

18 I bear witness to everyone who hears (BC)the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone (BD)adds to them, God will add to him (BE)the plagues which are written in (BF)this book. 19 And if anyone (BG)takes away from the (BH)words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from (BI)the tree of life and [g]from the holy city, (BJ)which are written in this book.

20 He who (BK)bears witness to these things says, “Yes, (BL)I am coming quickly.” Amen. (BM)Come, Lord Jesus.

21 (BN)The grace of the Lord Jesus be with [h]all. Amen.

Malachi 4

The Great Day of Yahweh

[a]For behold, the day is coming, (A)burning like a furnace; and all the arrogant and every worker of wickedness will be (B)chaff; and the day that is coming will (C)set them aflame,” says Yahweh of hosts, “so that it will leave them neither root nor branch.” “But for you who [b]fear My name, the (D)sun of righteousness will rise with (E)healing in its wings; and you will go forth and (F)skip about like calves from the stall. And you will (G)tread down the wicked, for they will be (H)ashes under the soles of your feet (I)on the day [c]which I am preparing,” says Yahweh of hosts.

[d](J)Remember the law of Moses My servant, even the statutes and judgments which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel.

“Behold, I am going to send you (K)Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome day of Yahweh. And he will (L)turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and (M)strike the land, [e]devoting it to destruction.”

John 21

Jesus Appears at the Sea of Galilee

21 After these things Jesus [a](A)manifested Himself (B)again to the disciples at the (C)Sea of Tiberias, and He manifested Himself in this way. Simon Peter, and (D)Thomas called [b]Didymus, and (E)Nathanael of (F)Cana in Galilee, and (G)the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. Simon Peter *said to them, “I am going fishing.” They *said to him, “We will also come with you.” They went out and got into the boat; and (H)that night they caught nothing.

But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not (I)know that it was Jesus. So Jesus *said to them, “Children, (J)do you have [c]any fish?” They answered Him, “No.” And He said to them, (K)Cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish. (L)Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved *said to Peter, “It is the Lord.” So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put his outer garment on (for he was stripped for work), and cast himself into the sea. But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about [d]two hundred cubits away, dragging the net full of fish.

So when they got out on the land, they *saw a charcoal (M)fire in place and (N)fish placed on it, and bread. 10 Jesus *said to them, “Bring some of the (O)fish which you have now caught.” 11 Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish, 153; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.

Jesus Provides Breakfast

12 Jesus *said to them, “Come, have (P)breakfast.” None of the disciples dared to question Him, “Who are You?” knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus *came and *took (Q)the bread and *gave it to them, and the (R)fish likewise. 14 This is now the (S)third time that Jesus [e]was manifested to the disciples, after He was raised from the dead.

Peter’s Restoration and Commission

15 So when they had (T)finished breakfast, Jesus *said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you [f](U)love Me more than these?” He *said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I [g]love You.” He *said to him, “Tend (V)My lambs.” 16 He *said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you [h]love Me?” He *said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I [i]love You.” He *said to him, (W)Shepherd My sheep.” 17 He *said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you [j]love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him (X)the third time, “Do you [k]love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, (Y)You know all things; You know that I [l]love You.” Jesus *said to him, (Z)Tend My sheep. 18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go.” 19 Now this He said, (AA)signifying by (AB)what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He *said to him, (AC)Follow Me!”

Jesus’ Command to Follow Him

20 Peter, turning around, *saw the (AD)disciple whom Jesus loved following them; the one who also had (AE)leaned back on His bosom at the supper and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” 21 So Peter seeing him *said to Jesus, “Lord, and what about this man?” 22 Jesus *said to him, “If I want him to remain (AF)until I come, what is that to you? You (AG)follow Me!” 23 Therefore this saying went out among (AH)the brothers that this disciple would not die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but only, “If I want him to remain (AI)until I come, what is that to you?”

24 This is the disciple who (AJ)is bearing witness to these things and wrote these things, and we know that his witness is true.

25 And there are also (AK)many other things which Jesus did, which if they *were written one after the other, I suppose that even the world itself *could not contain the books that *would be written.
