M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
9 And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came with a very great train, and camels that bore sweet odors and much gold and precious stones, to Jerusalem to test Solomon with hard questions. And when she came to Solomon, she spoke with him of all that was in her heart.
2 And Solomon answered all her questions. And there was nothing hidden from Solomon which he did not tell her.
3 Then the queen of Sheba saw the wisdom of Solomon, and the House that he had built,
4 and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the order of his waiters, and their apparel, and his butlers, and their apparel, and his Burnt Offerings which he offered in the House of the LORD. And she was greatly astonished.
5 And she said to the king, “It was a true word which I heard in my own land of your sayings, and of your wisdom!
6 “However, I did not believe their report until I came and my eyes had seen it. And behold, one half of your great wisdom was not told to me! You exceed the fame that I heard!
7 “Happy are your men, and happy are these your servants who stand before you always and hear your wisdom.
8 “Blessed be the LORD your God! Who loved you, setting you on His throne as king in the place of the LORD your God! Because your God loves Israel, to establish it forever, He has therefore made you king over them, to execute judgments and justice.”
9 Then she gave the king one hundred twenty talents of gold, and an abundance of sweet odors, and precious stones. Never were there such sweet odors as the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.
10 And also the servants of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, brought Algummim wood and precious stones.
11 And the king made from the Algummim wood stairs in the House of the LORD, and in the king’s house, and harps and viols for singers. And there was no such thing seen before in the land of Judah.
12 And King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba every pleasant thing that she asked, more than that which she had brought to the king. So she returned and went to her own country, she and her servants.
13 Also, the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred sixty-six talents of gold,
14 besides that which traders and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia, and the princes of the country, brought gold and silver to Solomon.
15 And King Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold. Six hundred shekels of beaten gold went to one large shield.
16 And for three hundred shields of beaten gold, three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield. And the king put them in the house of the wood of Lebanon.
17 And the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with pure gold.
18 And the throne had six steps, with a footstool of gold fastened to the throne and supports on either side on the place of the seats, and two lions standing by the supports.
19 And twelve lions stood there on the six steps on either side. There was not any like it made in any kingdom.
20 And all King Solomon’s drinking vessels were of gold. And all the vessels of the house of the wood of Lebanon were of pure gold; for silver was considered nothing special in the days of Solomon.
21 For the king’s ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram. Every three years the ships of Tarshish came and brought gold and silver, ivory, and apes and peacocks.
22 So, King Solomon exceeded all the kings of the Earth in riches and wisdom.
23 And all the kings of the Earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom that God had put in his heart.
24 And every man brought his present: vessels of silver and vessels of gold and clothing, armor, sweet odors, horses and mules, year after year.
25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls of horses, and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he bestowed in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem.
26 And he reigned over all the kings, from the River to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt.
27 And the king gave silver in Jerusalem as stones and gave cedar trees as the wild fig trees (which are abundant in the plain).
28 And they brought horses out of Egypt to Solomon, and out of all lands.
29 Concerning the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the Book of Nathan the Prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the Seer against Jeroboam, the son of Nebat?
30 And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem, over all Israel, for forty years.
31 And Solomon slept with his fathers. And they buried him in the city of David, his father. And Rehoboam, his son, reigned in his place.
1 Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James, To those who are called and sanctified by God the Father, and reserved to Jesus Christ:
2 Mercy to you, and peace and love be multiplied.
3 Beloved, while I diligently wrote to you of the common salvation, it became necessary for me to write to you in exhortation, so that you would earnestly contend for the faith which was once and for all given to the saints.
4 For some men have crept in who were long ago pre-ordained to this condemnation; ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into debauchery, and deny God, the only Lord and our Lord Jesus Christ.
5 Therefore, I will remind you (since you once knew this) how that the Lord - after He had delivered the people out of Egypt - destroyed those afterward who did not believe.
6 Also, the angels who did not keep their first estate - but left their own habitation - He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness until the judgment of the great Day;
7 as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them which committed fornication and followed strange flesh in the same way they did are set forth as an example and suffer the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also, these dreamers defile the flesh and despise government and speak evil of those who are in authority.
9 Yet Michael, the archangel, when he strove against the devil and disputed about the body of Moses, did not dare speak evil against him, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”
10 But these speak evil of those things which they do not know. And whatever things they know naturally (as beasts which are without reason), in those things they corrupt themselves.
11 Woe to them! For they have followed the way of Cain and are cast away by the deceit of Balaam’s wages, and perish in the rebellion of Korah!
12 These are reefs in your feasts of charity; feasting with you, shamelessly feeding themselves. They are clouds without water, carried about by winds; corrupt trees without fruit, twice dead and plucked up by the roots.
13 They are the raging waves of the sea, foaming forth their own disgrace. They are wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.
14 And Enoch also - the seventh from Adam - prophesied of such, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with thousands of his saints
15 to give judgment against all, and to rebuke all the ungodly among them of all their wicked deeds which they have ungodly committed; and of all their cruel speech which wicked sinners have spoken against Him.”
16 These are murmurers, complainers (walking after their own lusts), whose mouths speak proud things; admiring others for the sake of advantage.
17 But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 how that they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These are those who cause division from others; bestial, not having the Spirit.
20 But you, beloved, edify yourselves in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.
21 And keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto eternal life.
22 And have compassion on some, making distinctions.
23 But save others with fear, pulling them out of the fire. And hate even the garment which is defiled by the flesh.
24 Now to Him Who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His Glory, with joy;
25 to God - only wise, our Savior - be glory and majesty and dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.
1 The Word of the LORD which came to Zephaniah, the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah:
2 “I will surely destroy all things from off the land,” says the LORD.
3 “I will destroy man and beast. I will destroy the birds of the heaven and the fish of the sea and ruins with the wicked. And I will cut man off from the land,” says the LORD.
4 “I will also stretch out My Hand upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place, and the name of the Chemarims with the priests,
5 “and those who worship the host of heaven upon the housetops, and those who worship and swear by the LORD, and swear by Milcam,
6 “and those who have turned back from the LORD, and those who have neither sought the LORD nor inquired of Him.”
7 Be still at the presence of the LORD God! For the day of the LORD is at hand. For the LORD has prepared a Sacrifice and has sanctified His guests.
8 “And it shall be, on the day of the LORD’s Sacrifice, that I will visit the prince’s and the king’s children, and all who are clothed with strange apparel.
9 “At that same time, I will also visit all those who dance upon the threshold so proudly, who fill their masters’ houses by cruelty and deceit.
10 “And at that time,” says the LORD, “there shall be a noise and cry from the fish gate, and a howling from the second gate, and a great destruction from the hills.
11 “Howl you inhabitants of the low place! For the company of the merchants is destroyed! All those who bear silver are cut off!
12 “And at that time, I will search Jerusalem with lights and visit the men who are frozen in their dregs, and say in their hearts, ‘The LORD will neither do good nor do evil.’
13 “Therefore, their goods shall be plundered, and their houses desolate. They shall also build houses, but not inhabit them. And they shall plant vineyards, but not drink their wine.”
14 The great Day of the LORD is near! It is near and hurries greatly, the voice of the Day of the LORD! The strong man shall cry there bitterly.
15 That Day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and heaviness, a day of destruction and desolation, a day of obscurity and darkness, a day of clouds and blackness,
16 a day of the trumpet and alarm against the strong cities, and against the high towers.
17 “And I will bring distress upon men, so that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD. And their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
18 “Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them on the Day of the LORD’s wrath. But the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of His jealousy. For He shall make a speedy riddance of all those who dwell in the land.”
23 Then the whole multitude of them arose and led Him to Pilate.
2 And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We have found this Man perverting the nation and forbidding to pay tribute to Caesar, saying that He is Christ, a King!”
3 And Pilate asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” And He answered him, and said, “You say it.”
4 Then Pilate said to the chief priests, and to the people, “I find no fault in this Man.”
5 But they were all the more insistent, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning at Galilee, and as far as this place!”
6 Now, when Pilate heard ‘Galilee’, he asked whether the Man was a Galilean.
7 And when he knew that he was from Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod (who was also in Jerusalem in those days).
8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was extremely glad. For he had desired to see Him for a long time (because he had heard many things about him and had hoped to have seen some sign done by Him).
9 Then he questioned Him about many things. But He answered him nothing.
10 Also, the chief priests and scribes stood forth and accused Him vehemently.
11 And Herod, with his men of war, despised Him and mocked Him, and clothed Him in bright apparel, and again sent Him to Pilate.
12 And the same day, Pilate and Herod became friends (for before they were enemies of one another).
13 Then Pilate called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 and said to them, “You have brought this Man to me as one Who perverted the people! And behold, I have examined Him before you and have found no fault in this Man concerning those things whereof you accuse Him!
15 “No, nor Herod either! For I sent you to him. And lo, nothing worthy of death was done by Him!
16 “Therefore, I will discipline Him and let Him loose.”
17 (For it was necessary that he release one to them at the Feast.)
18 Then all the multitude cried at once, saying, “Away with Him! And deliver Barabbas to us!”
19 (who had been put in prison for a certain insurrection made in the city, and for murder).
20 Then Pilate spoke to them again, willing to release Jesus.
21 But they cried, saying, “Crucify! Crucify Him!”
22 And he said to them a third time, “But, what evil has He done? I find no cause for death in Him! I will therefore discipline Him and let Him loose!”
23 But they were insistent with loud voices and required that He be crucified. And their voices, and those of the chief priests, prevailed.
24 So Pilate gave sentence, that it should be as they required.
25 And he released to them the one whom they desired (who had been cast into prison for insurrection and murder) and delivered Jesus to their will.
26 And as they led Him away, they caught one Simon of Cyrene, coming out of the field. And they laid the cross on him, to bear it after Jesus.
27 And a great multitude of the people followed Him; and also women, who mourned and lamented Him.
28 But Jesus turned back to them, and said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me. But weep for yourselves, and for your children.
29 “For behold, the days will come when it shall be said, ‘Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the breasts which never nursed.’
30 “Then they shall begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us!’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us!’
31 “For if they do these things to a green tree, what shall be done to the dry?”
32 And there were two others who were criminals, being led with Him to be slain.
33 And when they had come to the place which is called Calvary, they crucified Him and the criminals there - one on the right hand and the other on the left.
34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them! For they do not know what they do!” And they divided His clothing and cast lots.
35 And the people stood and looked on. And the rulers mocked Him with them, saying, “He saved others! Let Him save Himself if He is the Christ! The Chosen of God!”
36 The soldiers also mocked Him, and came and offered Him vinegar,
37 and said, “If You are the King of the Jews, save yourself!”
38 And an inscription was also written over Him, in Greek letters, and in Latin, and in Hebrew, “THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.”
39 And one of the criminals who were hanged, railed at Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us!”
40 But the other answered, and rebuked him, saying, “Do you not fear God, seeing you are in the same condemnation?
41 “We are indeed here righteously! For we receive things worthy of what we have done. But this Man has done nothing wrong!”
42 And he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your Kingdom.”
43 Then Jesus said to him, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”
44 And it was about the sixth hour. And there was a darkness over all the land, until the ninth hour.
45 And the Sun was darkened. And the veil of the Temple was torn in the middle.
46 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and said, “Father! Into Your hands I commend My spirit. And when He had said this, He gave up the ghost.
47 Now when the centurion saw what had been done, he glorified God, saying, “Surely this Man was Just.”
48 And all the people that came together to that sight, observing the things which had been done, struck their breasts and returned.
49 And those who knew Him stood at a distance - and the women who followed Him from Galilee – observing these things.
50 And behold, there was a man named Joseph, who was a counselor; a good man, and just.
51 He had not consented to their counsel and deeds. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews. He also waited for the Kingdom of God.
52 He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.
53 And he took it down and wrapped it in a linen cloth and laid it in a tomb, hewn out of a rock (in which no one had ever yet laid).
54 And that day was the Preparation. And the Sabbath drew near.
55 And also the women who followed (who came with Him from Galilee) saw the sepulcher, and how His body was laid.
56 And they returned and prepared odors, and ointments, and rested on the Sabbath, according to the Commandment.
