2 Chronicles 3-4

1 The Temple of the Lord, and the porch are built, with other things thereto belonging.

So (A)Solomon began to build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, in mount [a]Moriah which had been declared unto David his father, in the place that David prepared in the threshing floor of (B)Ornan the Jebusite.

And he began to build in the second month and the second day, in the fourth year of his reign.

And these are the measures whereon Solomon grounded to build the house of God: the length of cubits after the first [b]measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits:

And the porch that was before the length in the front [c]of the breadth was twenty cubits, and the height was an [d]hundred and twenty, and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

And the greater house he ceiled with fir tree which he overlaid with good gold, and graved thereon palm trees and chains.

And he overlaid the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of [e]Parvaim.

The house, I say, the beams, posts, and walls thereof and the doors thereof overlaid he with gold, and graved Cherubims upon the walls.

¶ He made also the house of the most holy place: the length thereof was in the front of the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with the best gold, of six hundred talents.

And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold, and he overlaid the chambers with gold.

10 ¶ And in the house of the most holy place he made two Cherubims wrought like children, and overlaid them with gold.

11 (C)And the wings of the Cherubims were twenty cubits long: the one wing was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house, and the other wing five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other Cherub.

12 Likewise the wing of the other Cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house, and the other wing five cubits, joining to the wing of the other Cherub.

13 The wings of these Cherubims were spread abroad twenty cubits, they stood on their feet, and their faces were toward the house.

14 ¶ He made also the [f]veil of blue silk and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought Cherubims thereon.

15 ¶ And he made before the house two pillars [g]of five and thirty cubits high: and the chapiter that was upon the top of each of them, was five cubits.

16 He made also chains for the Oracle, and put them on the heads of the pillars, and made an [h]hundred pomegranates, and put them among the chains.

17 And he set up the pillars before the Temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left, and called that on the right hand Jachin, and that on the left hand Boaz.

1 The altar of brass. 2 The molten sea. 6 The caldrons. 7 The candlesticks, etc.

And he made an altar of brass twenty cubits long, and twenty cubits broad, and ten cubits high.

And he made a molten [i]Sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits high: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it about.

And under [j]it was the fashion of oxen, which did compass it round about, [k]ten in a cubit compassing the Sea about: two rows of oxen were cast when it was molten.

It stood upon twelve oxen: three looked toward the North, and three looked toward the West, and three looked toward the South, and three looked toward the East, and the Sea stood above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward.

And the thickness thereof was an hand breadth, and the brim thereof was like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of [l]lilies: it contained [m]three thousand baths.

¶ He made also ten caldrons, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them, and to cleanse in them that which appertained to the burnt offerings: but the Sea was for the Priests to wash in.

¶ And he made ten candlesticks of gold (according to [n]their form) and put them in the Temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left.

¶ And he made ten tables, and put them in the Temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left: and he made an hundred basins of gold.

And he made the [o]court of the Priests, and the great court and doors for the court, and overlaid the doors thereof with brass.

10 And he set the Sea on the right side Eastward toward the South.

11 And Huram made [p]pots and besoms and basins, and Huram finished the work that he should make for King Solomon for the house of God,

12 To wit, two pillars, and the bowls and the chapiters on the top of the two pillars, and two grates to cover the two bowls of the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars:

13 And four hundred pomegranates for the two grates, two rows of pomegranates for every grate to cover the two bowls of the chapiters, that were upon the pillars.

14 He made also bases, and made caldrons upon the bases:

15 And a Sea, and twelve bulls under it:

16 Pots also and besoms, and flesh hooks, and all these vessels made Huram [q]his father to King Solomon for the house of the Lord of shining brass.

17 In the plain of Jordan did the King cast them in clay between Succoth and Zeredathah.

18 And Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of brass could not be reckoned.

19 And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God: the golden altar also and the tables, whereon the [r]showbread stood.

20 Moreover, the candlesticks with their lamps, to burn them after the manner before the Oracle, of pure gold.

21 And the flowers and the lamps, and the snuffers of gold, which was fine gold.

22 And the [s]hooks, and the basins, and the spoons, and the ash pans of pure gold: the entry also of the house and doors thereof within, even of the most holy place: and the doors of the house, to wit, of the Temple were [t]of gold.

1 John 3

1 Setting down the inestimable glory of this that we are God’s sons, 7 he showeth that newness of life must be testifieth by good works, whereof charity is a manifest token. 19 Of faith,  22 and praying unto God.

Behold, [a][b]what love the Father hath given to us, that we should be [c]called the sons of God: [d]For this cause this world knoweth you not, because it knoweth not him.

[e]Dearly beloved, now are we the sons of God, but yet it is not made manifest what we shall be: and we know that when he shall be made manifest: we shall be [f]like him: for we shall see him [g]as he is.

[h]And every man that hath this hope in him purgeth himself, even [i]as he is pure.

[j]Whosoever [k]commiteth sin, transgresseth also the Law: for [l]sin is the transgression of the Law.

[m]And ye know that he was made manifest, that he might (A)take away our sins, and in him is no sin.

Whosoever abideth in him, sinneth not: whosoever [n]sinneth, hath not seen him, neither hath known him.

[o]Little children, let no man deceive you, he that doeth righteousness, is righteous, as he is righteous.

[p]He that (B)commiteth sin, is of the [q]devil: for the devil [r]sinneth from the [s]beginning: for this purpose was made manifest that Son of God, that he might loose the works of the devil.

Whosoever is born of God sinneth not: for his [t]seed remaineth in him, neither can he sin, because he is born of God.

10 [u]In this are the children of God known, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness, is not of God, [v]neither he that loveth not his brother.

11 [w]For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that (C)we should love one another,

12 [x]Not as (D)[y]Cain which was of that wicked one, and slew his brother: [z]and wherefore slew he him? because his own works were evil, and his brother’s good.

13 Marvel not my brethren, though this world hate you.

14 [aa]We know that we are [ab]translated from death unto life, because we love the brethren: (E)he that loveth not his brother, abideth in death.

15 [ac]Whosoever hateth his brother, is a manslayer: and ye know that no manslayer hath eternal life abiding in him.

16 (F)[ad]Hereby have we perceived love, that he laid down his life for us: therefore we ought also to lay down our lives for the brethren.

17 (G)[ae]And whosoever hath this [af]world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and [ag]shutteth up his compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

18 [ah]My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue only, but in deed and in truth.

19 [ai]For thereby we know that we are of the truth, [aj]and shall before him assure our hearts.

20 For [ak]if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21 [al]Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we boldness toward God.

22 (H)[am]And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight.

23 (I)This is then his commandment, that we believe in the Name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave commandment.

24 (J)For he that keepeth his commandments, dwelleth in him, and he in him: and hereby we know that he abideth in us, even by that [an]Spirit which he hath given us.

Nahum 2

He describeth the victories of the Chaldeans against the Assyrians.

The [a]destroyer is come before thy face: keep the munition: look to the way: make thy loins strong: increase thy strength mightily.

For the Lord hath [b]turned away the glory of Jacob, as the glory of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and [c]marred their vine branches.

The shield of his mighty men is made red, [d]the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be as in the fire and flames in the day of his preparation, and [e]the fir trees shall tremble.

The chariots shall rage in the streets: they shall run to and fro in the highways: they shall seem like lamps: they shall shoot like the lightning.

[f]He shall remember his strong men: they shall stumble as they go: they shall make haste to the walls thereof, and the defense shall be prepared.

The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall melt.

And Huzzab the Queen shall be led away captive, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, smiting upon their breasts.

But Nineveh is [g]of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry: but none shall look back.

[h]Spoil ye the silver, spoil the gold: for there is none end of the store and glory of all the pleasant vessels.

10 [i]She is empty and void and waste, and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and sorrow is in all loins, and the faces [j]of them all gather blackness.

11 Where is the [k]dwelling of the lions, and the pasture of the lion’s whelps? where the lion and the lioness waked, and the lion’s whelp, and none made them afraid.

12 The lion did tear in pieces enough for his whelps, and worried for his lioness, and filled his holes with prey, and his dens with spoil.

13 Behold, I come unto thee saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the [l]smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions, and I will cut off thy spoil from the earth, and the voice of thy [m]messengers shall no more be heard.

Luke 18

18 2 The parable of the unrighteous Judge and the widow. 10 Of the Pharisee and the Publican. 15 Children are of the kingdom of heaven. 22 To sell all and give to the poor. 28 The Apostles forsake all. 31 Christ foretelleth his death. 35 The blind man receiveth sight.

And [a]he spake also a parable unto them, to this end, that they (A)ought always to pray, and not to [b]wax faint,

[c]Saying, there was a judge in a certain city, which feared not God, neither reverenced man.

And there was a widow in that city, which came unto him, saying, Do me justice against mine adversary.

And he would not of a long time: but afterward he said with himself, Though I fear not God, nor reverence man,

Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will do her right, lest at the last she come and [d]make me weary.

And the Lord said, Hear what the unrighteous judge saith.

Now shall not God avenge his elect, which cry day and night unto him, yea, though [e]he suffer long for them?

I tell you he will avenge them quickly: but when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

[f]He spake also this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were just, and despised others.

10 Two men went up into the Temple to pray: the one a Pharisee, and the other a Publican.

11 [g]The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, O God, I thank thee that I am not as other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this Publican.

12 I fast twice in the week: I give tithe of all that ever I possess.

13 But the Publican standing [h]afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner.

14 I tell you, this man departed to his house, justified rather than the other: (B)for every man that exalteth himself shall be brought low, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

15 (C)[i]They brought unto him also babes that he should touch them. [j]And when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

16 [k]But Jesus [l]called them unto him, and said, Suffer the babes to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

17 [m]Verily I say unto you, whosoever receiveth not the kingdom of God as a babe, he shall not enter therein.

18 (D)Then a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what ought I do, to inherit eternal life?

19 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, even God.

20 Thou knowest the commandments, (E)Thou shalt not commit adultery: Thou shalt not kill: Thou shalt not steal: Thou shalt not bear false witness: Honor thy father and thy mother.

21 [n]And he said, All these have I kept from my youth.

22 Now when Jesus heard that, he said unto him, yet lackest thou one thing, Sell all that ever thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven, and come follow me.

23 But when he heard those things, he was very heavy: for he was marvelous rich.

24 [o]And when Jesus saw him very sorrowful, he said, With what difficulty shall they that have riches, enter into the kingdom of God!

25 Surely it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

26 Then said they that heard it, And who then shall be saved?

27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men, are possible with God.

28 (F)Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.

29 [p]And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, there is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children for the kingdom of God’s sake,

30 Which shall not receive much more in this world, and in the world to come life everlasting.

31 (G)[q]Then Jesus took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things shall be fulfilled to the Son of man, that are written by the Prophets.

32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and shall be spiteful entreated, and shall be spitted on.

33 And when they have scourged him, they will put him to death: but the third day he shall rise again.

34 But they understood [r]none of these things, and this saying was hid from them, neither perceived they the things, which were spoken.

35 (H)[s]And it came to pass, that as he was come near unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the wayside, begging.

36 And when he heard the people pass by, he asked what it meant.

37 And they said unto him, that Jesus of Nazareth passed by.

38 Then he cried, saying, Jesus the Son of David, have mercy on me.

39 [t]And they which went before, rebuked him that he should hold his peace, but he cried much more, O Son of David have mercy on me.

40 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be brought unto him. And when he was come near, he asked him,

41 Saying, What wilt thou that I do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

43 Then immediately he received his sight, and followed him, praising God: and all the people, when they saw this, gave praise to God.
