Psalm 8

The Glory of the Lord in Creation

To the Chief Musician. [a]On the instrument of Gath. A Psalm of David.

O Lord, our Lord,
How (A)excellent is Your name in all the earth,
Who have (B)set Your glory above the heavens!

(C)Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants
You have [b]ordained strength,
Because of Your enemies,
That You may silence (D)the enemy and the avenger.

When I (E)consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which You have ordained,
(F)What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You (G)visit[c] him?
For You have made him a little lower than [d]the angels,
And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

(H)You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
(I)You have put all things under his feet,
All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.

(J)O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

Psalm 47

Praise to God, the Ruler of the Earth

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

47 Oh, clap your hands, all you peoples!
Shout to God with the voice of triumph!
For the Lord Most High is awesome;
He is a great (A)King over all the earth.
(B)He will subdue the peoples under us,
And the nations under our feet.
He will choose our (C)inheritance for us,
The excellence of Jacob whom He loves. Selah

(D)God has gone up with a shout,
The Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
(E)For God is the King of all the earth;
(F)Sing praises with understanding.

(G)God reigns over the nations;
God (H)sits on His (I)holy throne.
The princes of the people have gathered together,
(J)The people of the God of Abraham.
(K)For the shields of the earth belong to God;
He is greatly exalted.

Psalm 24

The King of Glory and His Kingdom

A Psalm of David.

24 The (A)earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell therein.
For He has (B)founded it upon the seas,
And established it upon the [a]waters.

(C)Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord?
Or who may stand in His holy place?
He who has (D)clean hands and (E)a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol,
Nor (F)sworn deceitfully.
He shall receive blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
This is Jacob, the generation of those who (G)seek Him,
Who seek Your face. Selah

(H)Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
(I)And the King of glory shall come in.
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in (J)battle.
Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah

Psalm 96

A Song of Praise to God Coming in Judgment(A)

96 Oh, (B)sing to the Lord a new song!
Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Sing to the Lord, bless His name;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the [a]nations,
His wonders among all peoples.

For (C)the Lord is great and (D)greatly to be praised;
(E)He is to be feared above all gods.
For (F)all the gods of the peoples are idols,
(G)But the Lord made the heavens.
Honor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and (H)beauty are in His sanctuary.

(I)Give[b] to the Lord, O families of the peoples,
Give to the Lord glory and strength.
[c]Give to the Lord the glory due His name;
Bring an offering, and come into His courts.
Oh, worship the Lord (J)in the beauty of holiness!
Tremble before Him, all the earth.

10 Say among the [d]nations, (K)“The Lord reigns;
The world also is firmly established,
It shall not be [e]moved;
(L)He shall judge the peoples righteously.”

11 (M)Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
(N)Let the sea roar, and [f]all its fullness;
12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it.
Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice
13     before the Lord.
For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth.
(O)He shall judge the world with righteousness,
And the peoples with His truth.

Ezekiel 1:1-14

Ezekiel’s Vision of God

Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by (A)the River Chebar, that (B)the heavens were opened and I saw (C)visions[a] of God. On the fifth day of the month, which was in the fifth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity, the word of the Lord came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the [b]Chaldeans by the River Chebar; and (D)the hand of the Lord was upon him there.

Then I looked, and behold, (E)a whirlwind was coming (F)out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. (G)Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures. And (H)this was their appearance: they had (I)the likeness of a man. Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings. Their [c]legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the soles of calves’ feet. They sparkled (J)like the color of burnished bronze. (K)The hands of a man were under their wings on their four sides; and each of the four had faces and wings. Their wings touched one another. The creatures did not turn when they went, but each one went straight (L)forward.

10 As for (M)the likeness of their faces, each (N)had the face of a man; each of the four had (O)the face of a lion on the right side, (P)each of the four had the face of an ox on the left side, (Q)and each of the four had the face of an eagle. 11 Thus were their faces. Their wings stretched upward; two wings of each one touched one another, and (R)two covered their bodies. 12 And (S)each one went straight forward; they went wherever the spirit wanted to go, and they did not turn when they went.

13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, (T)like the appearance of torches going back and forth among the living creatures. The fire was bright, and out of the fire went lightning. 14 And the living creatures ran back and forth, (U)in appearance like a flash of lightning.

Ezekiel 1:24-28

24 (A)When they went, I heard the noise of their wings, (B)like the noise of many waters, like (C)the voice of the Almighty, a tumult like the noise of an army; and when they stood still, they let down their wings. 25 A voice came from above the firmament that was over their heads; whenever they stood, they let down their wings.

26 (D)And above the firmament over their heads was the likeness of a throne, (E)in appearance like a sapphire stone; on the likeness of the throne was a likeness with the appearance of a man high above (F)it. 27 Also from the appearance of His waist and upward (G)I saw, as it were, the color of amber with the appearance of fire all around within it; and from the appearance of His waist and downward I saw, as it were, the appearance of fire with brightness all around. 28 (H)Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. (I)This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord.

Ezekiel Sent to Rebellious Israel

So when I saw it, (J)I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.

Hebrews 2:5-18

The Son Made Lower than Angels(A)

For He has not put (B)the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. But one testified in a certain place, saying:

(C)“What is man that You are mindful of him,
Or the son of man that You take care of him?
You have made him [a]a little lower than the angels;
You have crowned him with glory and honor,
[b]And set him over the works of Your hands.
(D)You have put all things in subjection under his feet.”

For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now (E)we do not yet see all things put under him. But we see Jesus, (F)who was made [c]a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death (G)crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death (H)for everyone.

Bringing Many Sons to Glory

10 For it was fitting for Him, (I)for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation (J)perfect through sufferings. 11 For (K)both He who [d]sanctifies and those who are being sanctified (L)are all of one, for which reason (M)He is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12 saying:

(N)“I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”

13 And again:

(O)“I will put My trust in Him.”

And again:

(P)“Here am I and the children whom God has given Me.”

14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He (Q)Himself likewise shared in the same, (R)that through death He might destroy him who had the power of (S)death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who (T)through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For indeed He does not [e]give aid to angels, but He does [f]give aid to the seed of Abraham. 17 Therefore, in all things He had (U)to be made like His brethren, that He might be (V)a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 (W)For in that He Himself has suffered, being [g]tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.

Matthew 28:16-20

The Great Commission(A)

16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain (B)which Jesus had appointed for them. 17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some (C)doubted.

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, (D)“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 (E)Go [a]therefore and (F)make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 (G)teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am (H)with you always, even to the end of the age.” [b]Amen.
