God Judges with Equity

For the choir director. [a]Al-tashheth. A Psalm of Asaph. [b]A Song.

75 We (A)give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks,
For Your name is (B)near;
Men recount (C)Your wondrous deeds.
“For I select an (D)appointed time,
It is I who (E)judge with equity.
The (F)earth and all who dwell in it [c]melt;
It is I who have firmly set its (G)pillars. [d]Selah.
I said to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’
And to the wicked, ‘(H)Do not raise up the horn;
Do not raise up your horn on high,
(I)Nor speak with insolent [e]pride.’”

For one’s rising up does not come from the east, nor from the west,
And not from the [f](J)desert;
But (K)God is the Judge;
He (L)puts down one and raises up another.
For a (M)cup is in the hand of Yahweh, and the wine foams;
It is (N)full of His mixture, and He pours from this;
Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain and (O)drink down its dregs.

But as for me, I will (P)declare it forever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 And all the (Q)horns of the wicked I will cut off,
But (R)the horns of the righteous will be raised up.

God’s Name Is Great in Israel

For the choir director. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.

76 God is (S)known in Judah;
His name is (T)great in Israel.
So His [g](U)tabernacle is in (V)Salem;
His (W)dwelling place is in Zion.
There He (X)broke the [h]flaming arrows,
The shield and the sword and the battle. [i]Selah.

You are shining,
Majestic from the mountains of prey.
The (Y)stouthearted were plundered,
[j]They sank into sleep;
And none of the [k]warriors could use his hands.
At Your (Z)rebuke, O God of Jacob,
Both (AA)chariot rider and horse slumbered into a deep sleep.
But You, You are [l](AB)fearsome;
And (AC)who can stand in Your presence when once [m]You are angry?

You made Your cause to be heard from heaven;
The earth (AD)feared and was quiet
When God (AE)arose to judgment,
To save all the humble of the earth. Selah.
10 For the [n](AF)wrath of man shall praise You;
With a remnant of wrath You will gird Yourself.

11 (AG)Make vows to Yahweh your God and (AH)pay them;
Let all who are around Him (AI)bring gifts to the Fearsome One.
12 He will cut off the spirit of princes;
He is [o](AJ)feared by the kings of the earth.

Psalm 23

Yahweh Is My Shepherd

A Psalm of David.

23 Yahweh is my (A)shepherd,
I [a]shall (B)not want.
He makes me lie down in (C)green pastures;
He (D)leads me beside [b](E)quiet waters.
He (F)restores my soul;
He (G)guides me in the [c](H)paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Even though I (I)walk through the [d]valley of the shadow of death,
I (J)fear no [e]evil, for (K)You are with me;
Your (L)rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You (M)prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You [f]have (N)anointed my head with oil;
My (O)cup overflows.
[g]Surely (P)goodness and lovingkindness will [h]pursue me all the days of my life,
And I will [i](Q)dwell in the house of Yahweh [j]forever.

Psalm 27

Yahweh Is My Light and My Salvation

Of David.

27 Yahweh is my (A)light and my (B)salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
Yahweh is the [a](C)strong defense of my life;
(D)Whom shall I dread?
When evildoers came upon me to (E)devour my flesh,
My adversaries and my enemies, they (F)stumbled and fell.
Though a (G)host encamp against me,
My heart will not fear;
Though war arise against me,
In this I (H)trust.

(I)One thing I have asked from Yahweh, that I shall seek:
That I may (J)dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life,
To behold (K)the [b]beauty of Yahweh
And to (L)inquire in His temple.
For in the (M)day of calamity He will (N)conceal me in His shelter;
In the secret place of His tent He will (O)hide me;
He will (P)lift me up on a rock.
And now (Q)my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,
And I will offer in His tent (R)sacrifices with loud shouts of joy;
I will (S)sing, and I will sing praises to Yahweh.

(T)Hear, O Yahweh, when I call with my voice,
And be gracious to me and (U)answer me.
On Your behalf my heart says, “(V)Seek My face,”
“Your face, O Yahweh, (W)I shall seek.”
(X)Do not hide Your face from me,
Do not turn Your slave away in (Y)anger;
You have been (Z)my help;
(AA)Do not abandon me and do not (AB)forsake me,
O God of my salvation!
10 [c]For my father and (AC)my mother have forsaken me,
But (AD)Yahweh will take me up.

11 (AE)Instruct me in Your way, O Yahweh,
And lead me in a (AF)level path
Because of [d]my foes.
12 Do not give me over to the [e](AG)desire of my adversaries,
For (AH)false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as (AI)breathe out violence.
13 [f]I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the (AJ)goodness of Yahweh
In the (AK)land of the living.
14 (AL)Hope in Yahweh;
Be (AM)strong and let your heart take courage;
Hope in Yahweh.

Jeremiah 5:20-31

20 “Declare this in the house of Jacob
And cause it to be heard in Judah, saying,
21 ‘Now hear this, O people who are simpleminded fools and without a heart of wisdom,
Who have (A)eyes but do not see,
Who have ears but do not hear.
22 Do you not (B)fear Me?’ declares Yahweh.
‘Do you not tremble in My presence?
For I have (C)placed the sand as a boundary for the sea,
A perpetual statute, so it cannot cross over it.
Though the waves toss, yet they cannot prevail;
Though they roar, yet they cannot cross over it.
23 But this people has a (D)stubborn and rebellious heart;
They have turned aside and gone away.
24 They do not say in their heart,
“Let us now fear Yahweh our God,
Who (E)gives rain in its season,
Both (F)the [a]early rain and the [b]late rain,
Who keeps for us
The (G)appointed weeks of the harvest.”
25 Your (H)iniquities have turned these away,
And your sins have withheld good from you.
26 For wicked men are found among My people;
They (I)watch like fowlers [c]lying in wait;
They set a [d]trap;
They catch men.
27 Like a cage full of birds,
So their houses are full of (J)deceit;
Therefore they have become great and rich.
28 They are (K)fat, they are sleek;
They also [e]excel in deeds of evil;
They do not plead the cause,
The cause of the [f](L)orphan, that they may succeed;
And they do not [g]render justice for the poor.
29 (M)Shall I not punish [h]these people?’ declares Yahweh,
‘On a nation such as this
Shall I not avenge Myself?’

30 “A horrible and (N)appalling thing
Has happened in the land:
31 The (O)prophets prophesy with lying,
And the priests have dominion [i]by their own hand;
And My people (P)love it so!
But what will you do at the end of it?

Romans 3:19-31

19 Now we know that whatever the (A)Law says, it speaks to (B)those who are in the Law, so that every mouth may be shut and (C)all the world may become accountable to God; 20 because (D)by the works [a]of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for [b](E)through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.

The Righteousness of God through Faith

21 But now apart [c]from the Law (F)the righteousness of God has been manifested, being (G)witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the (H)righteousness of God through (I)faith (J)in Jesus Christ for (K)all those [d]who believe; for (L)there is no distinction; 23 for all [e](M)have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift (N)by His grace through (O)the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as (P)a [f]propitiation [g](Q)in His blood through faith, for a demonstration of His righteousness, [h]because in the (R)forbearance of God He (S)passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who [i]has faith in Jesus.

27 Where then is (T)boasting? It is excluded. By (U)what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. 28 [j]For (V)we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works [k]of the Law. 29 Or (W)is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also, 30 since indeed (X)God, (Y)who will justify the [l]circumcised [m]by faith and the [n]uncircumcised through that faith, (Z)is one.

31 Do we then abolish [o]the Law through faith? (AA)May it never be! On the contrary, we (AB)establish the Law.

John 7:1-13

Jesus Teaches at the Feast of Booths

And after these things Jesus (A)was walking in Galilee, for He was unwilling to walk in Judea because (B)the Jews (C)were seeking to kill Him. Now the feast of the Jews, (D)the Feast of Booths, was near. Therefore His (E)brothers said to Him, “Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your (F)disciples also may see Your works which You are doing. For no one does anything in secret [a]when he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself publicly to the world.” For not even His (G)brothers were believing in Him. So Jesus *said to them, (H)My time is not yet here, but your time is always here. (I)The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me because I bear witness about it, that (J)its deeds are evil. Go up to the feast yourselves; I am not [b]yet going up to this feast because (K)My time has not yet been fulfilled.” Having said these things to them, He stayed in Galilee.

10 But when His (L)brothers had gone up to the feast, then He Himself also went up, not publicly, but as in secret. 11 (M)So the Jews (N)were seeking Him at the feast and saying, “Where is He?” 12 And there was much grumbling among the crowds concerning Him; (O)some were saying, “He is a good man”; others were saying, “No, on the contrary, He leads the crowd astray.” 13 Yet no one was speaking openly about Him for (P)fear of the Jews.
