Psalm 29

Psalm 29

The Voice of the Lord

A psalm of David.

Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,[a]
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord
in the splendor of his holiness.[b](A)

The voice of the Lord is above the waters.
The God of glory thunders—
the Lord, above the vast water,(B)
the voice of the Lord in power,
the voice of the Lord in splendor.(C)
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.(D)
He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,(E)
and Sirion, like a young wild ox.(F)
The voice of the Lord flashes flames of fire.(G)
The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.(H)
The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth[c](I)
and strips the woodlands bare.(J)
In his temple all cry, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
the Lord sits enthroned, King forever.(K)
11 The Lord gives his people strength;(L)
the Lord blesses his people with peace.(M)

Psalm 98

Psalm 98

Praise the King

A psalm.

Sing a new song to the Lord,(A)
for he has performed wonders;
his right hand and holy arm
have won him victory.(B)
The Lord has made his victory known;
he has revealed his righteousness
in the sight of the nations.(C)
He has remembered his love
and faithfulness to the house of Israel;
all the ends of the earth
have seen our God’s victory.(D)

Let the whole earth shout to the Lord;
be jubilant, shout for joy, and sing.(E)
Sing to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and melodious song.(F)
With trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn
shout triumphantly
in the presence of the Lord, our King.(G)

Let the sea and all that fills it,
the world and those who live in it, resound.(H)
Let the rivers clap their hands;
let the mountains shout together for joy(I)
before the Lord,
for he is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world righteously
and the peoples fairly.(J)

Isaiah 66:18-23

18 “Knowing[a] their works and their thoughts, I have come to gather all nations and languages;(A) they will come and see my glory. 19 I will establish a sign among them, and I will send survivors from them to the nations—to Tarshish, Put,[b] Lud (who are archers), Tubal, Javan,(B) and the coasts and islands far away—who have not heard about me or seen my glory. And they will proclaim my glory among the nations.(C) 20 They will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a gift to the Lord on horses and chariots, in litters, and on mules and camels, to my holy mountain Jerusalem,”(D) says the Lord, “just as the Israelites bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of the Lord. 21 I will also take some of them as priests and Levites,”(E) says the Lord.

22 “For just as the new heavens and the new earth,(F)
which I will make,
will remain before me”—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
“so your offspring and your name will remain.
23 All humanity will come to worship me
from one New Moon to another
and from one Sabbath to another,”
says the Lord.

Romans 15:7-13

Glorifying God Together

Therefore welcome one another,(A) just as[a] Christ also welcomed you, to the glory of God. For I say that Christ became a servant of the circumcised[b] on behalf of God’s truth,(B) to confirm the promises to the fathers,(C) and so that Gentiles(D) may glorify God for his mercy.(E) As it is written,

Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles,
and I will sing praise to your name.[c](F)

10 Again it says, Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people![d](G) 11 And again,

Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles;
let all the peoples praise him![e](H)

12 And again, Isaiah says,

The root of Jesse(I) will appear,
the one who rises to rule the Gentiles;
the Gentiles will hope in him.[f](J)

13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe(K) so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.(L)
