⁶ “Hear us, my lord: You are ^(A)a ^[a]mighty prince among us; bury your dead in the choicest of our burial places. None of us will withhold from you his burial place, that you may bury your dead.”

³⁵ The Lord ^(A)has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great; and He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold, male and female servants, and camels and donkeys.

¹⁴ Now ^(A)when Abram heard that ^(B)his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were ^(C)born in his own house, and went in pursuit ^(D)as far as Dan.

The Command to Love

3 Behold ^(A)what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that ^(B)we should be called children of ^[a]God! Therefore the world does not know ^[b]us, ^(C)because it did not know Him. ² Beloved, ^(D)now we are children of God; and ^(E)it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, ^(F)we shall be like Him, for ^(G)we shall see Him as He is.

The Lord, the Only Savior

¹⁴ Thus says the Lord:

²² So Aaron said, “Do not let the anger of my lord become hot. ^(A)You know the people, that they are set on evil.

⁸ Look, we brought back to you from the land of Canaan ^(A)the money which we found in the mouth of our sacks. How then could we steal silver or gold from your lord’s house?

⁵ Is not this the one from which my lord drinks, and with which he indeed practices divination? You have done evil in so doing.’ ”

¹⁰ And they said to him, “No, my lord, but your servants have come to buy food.
