⁵ When Ananias heard these words, he ^(A)fell down and breathed his last. And ^(B)great fear came upon all who heard of it.

¹⁰ Immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. When the young men came in they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. ¹¹ And ^(A)great fear came upon the whole church and upon all who heard of these things.

⁴³ And awe^[a] came upon every soul, and ^(A)many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles.

¹³ And at that hour there was ^(A)a great earthquake, and ^(B)a tenth of the city fell. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and ^(C)gave glory to ^(D)the God of heaven.

⁵ And if anyone would harm them, ^(A)fire pours from their mouth and consumes their foes. If anyone would harm them, ^(B)this is how he is doomed to be killed.

^2 (A)I warned ^(B)those who sinned before and all the others, and I warn them now while absent, as I did when present on my second visit, that ^(C)if I come again I will not spare them—

² I beg of you ^(A)that when I am present I may not have to show ^(B)boldness with such confidence as I count on showing against some who suspect us of walking according to the flesh. ³ For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. ⁴ For the ^(C)weapons of ^(D)our warfare are not of the flesh but have ^(E)divine power ^(F)to destroy strongholds. ⁵ We destroy arguments and ^(G)every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to ^(H)obey Christ, ^6 (I)being ready to punish every disobedience, ^(J)when your obedience is complete.

¹¹ For see what earnestness this godly grief has produced in you, but also what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what fear, what longing, ^(A)what zeal, what punishment! At every point you have proved yourselves innocent in the matter.

²¹ What do you wish? ^(A)Shall I come to you with a rod, or with love in a spirit of gentleness?
