¹⁷ And he said, “Far be it from me, O Lord, that I should do this! Is this not ^(A)the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?” Therefore he would not drink it.

These things were done by the three mighty men.

^10 (A)‘And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who eats any blood, ^(B)I will set My face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

³⁰ And ^(A)why do we stand in ^[a]jeopardy every hour?

⁵² The Jews therefore ^(A)quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?”

⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless ^(B)you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. ^54 (C)Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

²⁴ And He said to them, “This is My blood of the ^[a]new covenant, which is shed for many.

²⁸ For ^(A)this is My blood ^(B)of the ^[a]new covenant, which is shed ^(C)for many for the ^[b]remission of sins.

³ But Naboth said to Ahab, “The Lord forbid ^(A)that I should give the inheritance of my fathers to you!”

²⁰ And Joab answered and said, “Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy!

^11 (A)The Lord forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the Lord’s anointed. But please, take now the spear and the jug of water that are by his head, and let us go.”
