^26 (A)Moreover you shall not eat any blood in any of your dwellings, whether of bird or beast.

^10 (A)‘And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who eats any blood, ^(B)I will set My face against that person who eats blood, and will cut him off from among his people. ¹¹ For the ^(C)life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar ^(D)to make atonement for your souls; for ^(E)it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’ ¹² Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘No one among you shall eat blood, nor shall any stranger who dwells among you eat blood.’

¹³ “Whatever man of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell among you, who ^(F)hunts and catches any animal or bird that may be eaten, he shall ^(G)pour out its blood and ^(H)cover it with dust; ^14 (I)for it is the life of all flesh. Its blood sustains its life. Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.’

^15 (J)“And every person who eats what died naturally or what was torn by beasts, whether he is a native of your own country or a stranger, ^(K)he shall both wash his clothes and ^(L)bathe in water, and be unclean until evening. Then he shall be clean. ¹⁶ But if he does not wash them or bathe his body, then ^(M)he shall bear his ^[a]guilt.”

²⁶ ‘You shall not eat anything with the blood, nor shall you practice divination or soothsaying.

^16 (A)Only you shall not eat the blood; you shall pour it on the earth like water.

²³ Only be sure that you do not eat the blood, ^(A)for the blood is the life; you may not eat the life with the meat.

²³ Only you shall not eat its blood; you shall pour it on the ground like water.

³³ Then they told Saul, saying, “Look, the people are sinning against the Lord by eating with the blood!”

So he said, “You have dealt treacherously; roll a large stone to me this day.”

³⁴ Then Saul said, “Disperse yourselves among the people, and say to them, ‘Bring me here every man’s ox and every man’s sheep, slaughter them here, and eat; and do not sin against the Lord by eating with the blood.’ ” So every one of the people brought his ox with him that night, and slaughtered it there.

²⁰ but that we ^(A)write to them to abstain ^(B)from things polluted by idols, ^(C)from ^[a]sexual immorality, ^(D)from things strangled, and from blood.
