¹² “Concerning this ^[a]temple which you are building, ^(A)if you walk in My statutes, execute My judgments, keep all My commandments, and walk in them, then I will perform My ^[b]word with you, ^(B)which I spoke to your father David.

^10 (A)He shall build a house for My name, and ^(B)he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’

²³ if indeed you continue ^(A)in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are ^(B)not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, ^(C)which was preached to every creature under heaven, ^(D)of which I, Paul, became a minister.

³ And the Lord said to him: ^(A)“I have heard your prayer and your supplication that you have made before Me; I have consecrated this house which you have built ^(B)to put My name there forever, ^(C)and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually. ⁴ Now if you ^(D)walk before Me ^(E)as your father David walked, in integrity of heart and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you ^(F)keep My statutes and My judgments, ⁵ then I will establish the throne of your kingdom over Israel forever, ^(G)as I promised David your father, saying, ‘You shall not fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’ ^6 (H)But if you or your sons at all ^[a]turn from following Me, and do not keep My commandments and My statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them,

¹⁴ So ^(A)if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, ^(B)as your father David walked, then I will ^(C)lengthen^[a] your days.”

^12 (A)“When your days are fulfilled and you ^(B)rest with your fathers, ^(C)I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. ^13 (D)He shall build a house for My name, and I will ^(E)establish the throne of his kingdom forever. ^14 (F)I will be his Father, and he shall be ^(G)My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the ^[a]blows of the sons of men. ¹⁵ But My mercy shall not depart from him, ^(H)as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you. ¹⁶ And ^(I)your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before ^[b]you. Your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”

⁷ “Thus says the Lord of hosts:

^17 (A)As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, ¹⁸ then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ^(B)‘You shall not fail to have a man as ruler in Israel.’
