Psalm 60-87

⁶ God has spoken in His ^[i](M)holiness:
“I will triumph, I will divide up ^(N)Shechem, and measure out the Valley of ^(O)Succoth.
^7 (P)Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
^(Q)Ephraim also is the ^[j]helmet of My head;
Judah is My ^(R)scepter.
^8 (S)Moab is My washbowl;
I will throw My sandal over ^(T)Edom;
Shout loud, ^(U)Philistia, because of Me!”

⁹ Who will bring me into the besieged city?
Who ^[k]will lead me to Edom?
¹⁰ Have You Yourself not ^(V)rejected us, God?
And ^(W)will You not go out with our armies, God?
¹¹ Oh give us help against the enemy,
For ^(X)rescue ^[l]by man is worthless.
^12 [m]Through God we will ^(Y)do valiantly,
And it is He who will ^(Z)trample down our enemies.

⁵ For You have heard my ^(AJ)vows, God;
You have given me the inheritance of those who ^(AK)fear Your name.
⁶ You will ^[o](AL)prolong the king’s ^[p]life;
His years will be like generations.
⁷ He will ^[q]sit enthroned ^(AM)before God forever;
Appoint ^(AN)faithfulness and truth that they may watch over him.
⁸ So I will ^(AO)sing praise to Your name forever,
That I may ^(AP)pay my vows day by day.

³ How long will you attack a man,
That you may murder him, all of you,
Like a ^(AU)leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
⁴ They have planned only to thrust him down from his high position;
They ^(AV)delight in falsehood;
They ^(AW)bless with ^[s]their mouth,
But inwardly they curse. Selah

⁵ My soul, ^(AX)wait in silence for God alone,
For my hope is from Him.
⁶ He alone is ^(AY)my rock and my salvation,
My refuge; I will not be shaken.
⁷ My ^(AZ)salvation and my glory rest on God;
The rock of my strength, my ^(BA)refuge is in God.
^8 (BB)Trust in Him at all times, you people;
^(BC)Pour out your hearts before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah

⁹ People of ^(BD)low standing are only ^(BE)breath, and people of rank are a ^(BF)lie;
In the ^(BG)balances they go up.
Together they are lighter than breath.
^10 (BH)Do not trust in oppression,
And do not vainly rely on ^(BI)robbery;
If wealth increases, ^(BJ)do not set your heart on it.

¹¹ God has ^(BK)spoken ^[t]once;
^[u]Twice I have heard this:
That ^(BL)power belongs to God;
¹² And faithfulness ^(BM)is Yours, Lord,
For You ^(BN)reward a person according to his work.

⁶ When I remember You ^(BX)on my bed,
I meditate on You in the ^(BY)night watches,
⁷ For ^(BZ)You have been my help,
And in the ^(CA)shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
⁸ My soul ^(CB)clings ^[x]to You;
Your ^(CC)right hand takes hold of me.

⁹ But those who ^(CD)seek my ^[y]life to destroy it,
Will go into the ^[z](CE)depths of the earth.
^10 [aa]They will be ^[ab](CF)turned over to the power of the sword;
They will be a ^[ac](CG)prey for foxes.
¹¹ But the ^(CH)king will rejoice in God;
Everyone who ^(CI)swears by Him will boast,
For the ^(CJ)mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.

⁷ But ^(CV)God ^[al]will shoot an arrow at them;
Suddenly ^[am]they will be wounded.
⁸ So ^[an]they ^[ao]will ^(CW)make him stumble;
^(CX)Their own tongue is against them;
All who see them will ^(CY)shake their heads.
⁹ Then all people ^[ap]will ^(CZ)fear,
And they ^[aq]will ^(DA)declare the work of God,
And ^[ar]will consider ^[as]what He has done.
¹⁰ The righteous person will be ^(DB)glad in the Lord and ^(DC)take refuge in Him;
And all the upright in heart will boast.

⁵ By ^(DK)awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, ^(DL)God of our salvation,
You who are the trust of all the ^(DM)ends of the earth and the farthest ^[ax](DN)sea;
⁶ Who ^(DO)establishes the mountains by His strength,
Who is ^(DP)encircled with might;
⁷ Who ^(DQ)stills the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves,
And the ^(DR)turmoil of the nations.
⁸ They who dwell at the ^(DS)ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs;
You make the ^[ay]sunrise and the sunset shout for joy.

⁹ You visit the earth and ^(DT)cause it to overflow;
You greatly ^(DU)enrich it;
The ^[az](DV)stream of God is full of water;
You prepare their ^(DW)grain, for so You prepare ^[ba]the earth.
¹⁰ You water its furrows abundantly,
You ^[bb]settle its ridges,
You soften it ^(DX)with showers,
You bless its growth.
¹¹ You have crowned the year ^[bc]with Your ^(DY)goodness,
And Your ^[bd]paths ^(DZ)drip with fatness.
^12 (EA)The pastures of the wilderness drip,
And the ^(EB)hills encircle themselves with rejoicing.
¹³ The meadows are ^(EC)clothed with flocks
And the valleys are ^(ED)covered with grain;
They ^(EE)shout for joy, yes, they sing.

^5 (EM)Come and see the works of God,
Who is ^(EN)awesome in His deeds toward the sons of mankind.
⁶ He ^(EO)turned the sea into dry land;
They passed through ^(EP)the river on foot;
Let’s ^(EQ)rejoice there, in Him!
⁷ He ^(ER)rules by His might forever;
His ^(ES)eyes keep watch on the nations;
The rebellious shall not ^(ET)exalt themselves! Selah

⁸ Bless our God, you peoples,
And ^[be](EU)sound His praise abroad,
⁹ Who ^[bf](EV)keeps us in life,
And ^(EW)does not allow our feet to ^[bg]slip.
¹⁰ For You have ^(EX)put us to the test, God;
You have ^(EY)refined us as silver is refined.
¹¹ You ^(EZ)brought us into the net;
You laid an oppressive burden upon ^[bh]us.
¹² You made men ^(FA)ride over our heads;
We went through ^(FB)fire and through water.
Yet You ^(FC)brought us out into a place of abundance.
¹³ I shall ^(FD)come into Your house with burnt offerings;
I shall ^(FE)pay You my vows,
¹⁴ Which my lips uttered
And my mouth spoke when I was ^(FF)in distress.
¹⁵ I shall ^(FG)offer to You burnt offerings of fat animals,
With the smoke of ^(FH)rams;
I shall make an offering of ^[bi]bulls with male goats. Selah

^16 (FI)Come and hear, all who ^[bj]fear God,
And I will ^(FJ)tell of what He has done for my soul.
¹⁷ I cried to Him with my mouth,
And ^[bk]He was ^(FK)exalted with my tongue.
¹⁸ If I ^[bl](FL)regard wickedness in my heart,
The ^(FM)Lord will not hear;
¹⁹ But ^(FN)God has heard;
He has given attention to the sound of my prayer.
^20 (FO)Blessed be God,
Who ^(FP)has not turned away my prayer
Nor His favor from me.

⁵ A ^(GL)father of the fatherless and a ^(GM)judge ^[bt]for the widows,
Is God in His ^(GN)holy dwelling.
⁶ God ^[bu](GO)makes a home for the lonely;
He ^(GP)leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only ^(GQ)the rebellious live in parched lands.

⁷ God, when You ^(GR)went forth before Your people,
When You ^(GS)marched through the desert, Selah
⁸ The ^(GT)earth quaked;
The ^(GU)heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
^[bv](GV)Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
⁹ You ^(GW)made plentiful rain fall, God;
You confirmed Your inheritance when it was ^[bw]parched.
¹⁰ Your creatures settled in it;
In Your kindness You ^(GX)provided for the poor, God.

¹¹ The Lord gives the ^[bx]command;
The ^(GY)women who proclaim good news are a great army:
¹² “^(GZ)Kings of armies flee, they flee,
And she who remains at home will ^(HA)divide the spoils!”
^13 [by]When you lie down ^(HB)among the sheepfolds,
You are like the wings of a dove covered with silver,
And its pinions with ^[bz]glistening gold.
¹⁴ When the Almighty ^(HC)scattered the kings ^[ca]there,
It was snowing in ^(HD)Zalmon.

^15 (HE)The mountain of Bashan is a ^[cb]mountain of God;
The mountain of Bashan is a mountain of many peaks.
¹⁶ Why do you look with envy, you mountains of many peaks,
At the mountain God has ^(HF)desired as His dwelling?
Indeed, ^(HG)the Lord will dwell there forever.
¹⁷ The ^(HH)chariots of God are ^[cc]myriads, ^(HI)thousands upon thousands;
^[cd]The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness.
¹⁸ You have ^(HJ)ascended on high, You have ^(HK)led captive Your captives;
You have received gifts among people,
Even among the rebellious as well, that ^[ce]the Lord God may dwell there.

¹⁹ Blessed be the Lord, who daily ^(HL)bears our burden,
^(HM)The God who is our salvation. Selah
²⁰ God is to us a ^(HN)God of salvation;
And ^(HO)to ^[cf]God the Lord belong ways of escape ^[cg]from death.
²¹ God certainly will ^(HP)shatter the heads of His enemies,
The hairy ^[ch]head of one who goes about in his guilt.
²² The Lord ^[ci]said, “^(HQ)I will bring them back from Bashan.
I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,
²³ So that ^[cj](HR)your foot may shatter them in blood,
And the tongue of your ^(HS)dogs may have its portion from your enemies.”

²⁴ They have seen ^(HT)Your procession, God,
The procession of my God, my King, ^[ck](HU)into the sanctuary.
²⁵ The ^(HV)singers went on, the musicians after them,
^[cl]In the midst of the ^(HW)young women beating tambourines.
^26 (HX)Bless God in the congregations,
Even the Lord, you who are of the ^(HY)fountain of Israel.
^27 (HZ)Benjamin, the ^[cm]youngest, is there, ^[cn]ruling them,
The leaders of Judah in their company,
The leaders of ^(IA)Zebulun, the leaders of Naphtali.

^28 [co]Your God has ^(IB)commanded your strength;
Show Yourself strong, God, You ^(IC)who acted ^[cp]in our behalf.
^29 [cq]Because of Your temple at Jerusalem
^(ID)Kings will bring gifts to You.
³⁰ Rebuke the ^(IE)animals ^[cr]in the reeds,
The herd of ^(IF)bulls with the calves of the peoples,
Trampling the pieces of silver;
He has ^(IG)scattered the peoples who delight in war.
^31 [cs]Messengers will come from ^(IH)Egypt;
^[ct](II)Cush will quickly stretch out her hands to God.

³² Sing to God, you ^(IJ)kingdoms of the earth,
^(IK)Sing praises to the Lord, Selah
³³ To Him who ^(IL)rides upon the ^[cu](IM)highest heavens, which are from ancient times;
Behold, ^(IN)He ^[cv]speaks with His voice, a ^(IO)mighty voice.
^34 (IP)Ascribe strength to God;
His majesty is over Israel,
And ^(IQ)His strength is in the ^[cw]skies.
^35 [cx]God, You are ^(IR)awesome from Your ^[cy]sanctuary.
The God of Israel Himself ^(IS)gives strength and power to the people.
^(IT)Blessed be God!

⁵ God, You know ^(JC)my foolishness,
And ^(JD)my guilt is not hidden from You.
⁶ May those who wait for You not ^(JE)be ashamed because of me, Lord ^[dd]God of armies;
May those who seek You not be dishonored because of me, God of Israel,
⁷ Because ^(JF)for Your sake I have endured disgrace;
^(JG)Dishonor has covered my face.
⁸ I have become ^(JH)estranged ^[de]from my brothers,
And a stranger to my mother’s sons.
⁹ For ^(JI)zeal for Your house has consumed me,
And ^(JJ)the taunts of those who taunt You have fallen on me.
¹⁰ When I wept ^(JK)in my soul with fasting,
It became my ^(JL)disgrace.
¹¹ When I made ^(JM)sackcloth my clothing,
I became ^(JN)a proverb to them.
¹² Those who ^(JO)sit in the gate talk about me,
And ^(JP)songs of mockery by those habitually drunk are about me.

¹³ But as for me, my prayer is to You, Lord, ^(JQ)at an acceptable time;
God, in the ^(JR)greatness of Your mercy,
Answer me with ^[df]Your saving truth.
¹⁴ Rescue me from the ^(JS)mud and do not let me sink;
May I be ^(JT)rescued from those who hate me, and from the ^(JU)depths of water.
¹⁵ May the ^[dg](JV)flood of water not overflow me
Nor the deep swallow me up,
Nor the ^(JW)pit close its mouth on me.

¹⁶ Answer me, Lord, for ^(JX)Your mercy is good;
^(JY)According to the greatness of Your compassion, ^(JZ)turn to me,
¹⁷ And ^(KA)do not hide Your face from Your servant,
For I am ^(KB)in distress; answer me quickly.
¹⁸ Come near to my soul and ^(KC)redeem it;
^(KD)Ransom me because of my enemies!
¹⁹ You know my ^(KE)disgrace, my shame, and my dishonor;
All my enemies are ^[dh]known to You.

²⁰ Disgrace has ^(KF)broken my heart, and I am so sick.
And ^(KG)I waited for sympathy, but there was none;
And for ^(KH)comforters, but I found none.
²¹ They also gave me ^[di](KI)a bitter herb in my food,
And for my thirst they ^(KJ)gave me vinegar to drink.

²² May ^(KK)their table before them become a snare;
And ^[dj](KL)when they are at peace, may it become a trap.
²³ May their ^(KM)eyes grow dim so that they cannot see,
And make their ^(KN)hips shake continually.
^24 (KO)Pour out Your indignation on them,
And may Your burning anger overtake them.
²⁵ May their ^[dk](KP)camp be desolated;
May there be none living in their tents.
²⁶ For they have ^(KQ)persecuted him whom ^(KR)You Yourself struck,
And they tell of the pain of those whom ^(KS)You have ^[dl]wounded.
²⁷ Add ^(KT)guilt to their guilt,
And ^(KU)may they not come into ^(KV)Your righteousness.
²⁸ May they be ^(KW)wiped out of the ^(KX)book of life,
And may they not be ^[dm](KY)recorded with the righteous.

²⁹ But I am ^(KZ)afflicted and in pain;
^[dn]May Your salvation, God, ^(LA)set me safely on high.
³⁰ I will ^(LB)praise the name of God with song,
And ^(LC)exalt Him with ^(LD)thanksgiving.
³¹ And it will ^(LE)please the Lord better than an ox
Or bull with horns and hoofs.
³² The ^(LF)humble ^[do]have seen it and are glad;
You who seek God, ^(LG)let your heart ^[dp]revive.
³³ For ^(LH)the Lord hears the needy,
And ^(LI)does not despise those of His who are prisoners.

^34 (LJ)Heaven and earth shall praise Him,
The seas and ^(LK)everything that moves in them.
³⁵ For God will ^(LL)save Zion and ^(LM)build the cities of Judah,
So that they may live there and ^(LN)possess it.
³⁶ The ^[dq](LO)descendants of His servants will inherit it,
And those who love His name ^(LP)will live in it.

⁴ May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
And may those who love Your salvation say continually,
“May God be exalted!”
⁵ But ^(LT)I am afflicted and needy;
^(LU)Hurry to me, God!
You are my help and my savior;
Lord, do not delay.

⁷ I have become a ^(MI)marvel to many,
For You are ^(MJ)my strong refuge.
⁸ My ^(MK)mouth is filled with Your praise
And with ^(ML)Your glory all day long.
⁹ Do not cast me away at the ^(MM)time of my old age;
Do not abandon me when my strength fails.
¹⁰ For my enemies have spoken ^[dx]against me;
And those who ^(MN)watch for my ^[dy]life ^(MO)have consulted together,
¹¹ Saying, “^(MP)God has abandoned him;
Pursue and seize him, for there is ^(MQ)no one to save him.”

¹² God, ^(MR)do not be far from me;
My God, ^(MS)hurry to my aid!
¹³ May those who are enemies of my soul be ^(MT)put to shame and consumed;
May they be ^(MU)covered with disgrace and dishonor, who ^(MV)seek ^[dz]to injure me.
¹⁴ But as for me, I will ^(MW)wait continually,
And will ^[ea](MX)praise You yet more and more.
¹⁵ My ^(MY)mouth shall tell of Your righteousness
And of ^(MZ)Your salvation all day long;
For I ^(NA)do not know the art of writing.
¹⁶ I will come ^(NB)with the mighty deeds of the Lord ^[eb]God;
I will ^(NC)make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone.

¹⁷ God, You ^(ND)have taught me from my youth,
And I still ^(NE)declare Your wondrous deeds.
¹⁸ And even when I am ^(NF)old and gray, God, do not abandon me,
Until I ^(NG)declare Your ^[ec]strength to this generation,
Your power to all who are to come.
^19 [ed]For Your ^(NH)righteousness, God, reaches to the ^[ee]heavens,
You who have ^(NI)done great things;
God, ^(NJ)who is like You?
²⁰ You who have ^(NK)shown ^[ef]me many troubles and distresses
Will ^(NL)revive ^[eg]me again,
And will bring ^[eh]me up again ^(NM)from the depths of the earth.
²¹ May You increase my ^(NN)greatness
And turn to ^(NO)comfort me.

²² I will also praise You with ^[ei](NP)a harp,
And Your ^[ej]truth, my God;
I will sing praises to You with the ^(NQ)lyre,
^(NR)Holy One of Israel.
²³ My lips will ^(NS)shout for joy when I sing praises to You;
And my ^(NT)soul, which You have redeemed.
²⁴ My ^(NU)tongue also will tell of Your righteousness all day long;
For they are ^(NV)put to shame, for they are humiliated who seek ^[ek]my harm.

^5 [es]May they fear You ^(OC)while the sun shines,
And ^[et]as long as the moon shines, throughout all generations.
^6 [eu]May he come down ^(OD)like rain upon the mown grass,
Like ^(OE)showers that water the earth.
^7 [ev]May the ^(OF)righteous flourish in his days,
As well as an ^(OG)abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.

⁸ May he also rule ^(OH)from sea to sea,
And from the Euphrates River to the ends of the earth.
^9 [ew]May ^(OI)the nomads of the desert ^(OJ)bow before him,
And his enemies ^(OK)lick the dust.
^10 [ex]May the kings of ^(OL)Tarshish and of the ^[ey](OM)islands bring gifts;
May the kings of ^(ON)Sheba and ^(OO)Seba ^(OP)offer tributes.
^11 [ez]And may all ^(OQ)kings bow down before him,
All ^(OR)nations serve him.

¹² For he will ^(OS)save the needy when he cries for help,
The ^[fa]afflicted also, and him who has no helper.
¹³ He will have ^(OT)compassion on the poor and needy,
And he will save the ^[fb]lives of the needy.
¹⁴ He will ^[fc](OU)rescue their ^[fd]life from oppression and violence,
And their blood will be ^(OV)precious in his sight;
¹⁵ So may he live, and may the ^(OW)gold of Sheba be given to him;
And ^[fe]they are to pray for him continually;
^[ff]They are to bless him all day long.

¹⁶ May there be abundance of grain on the earth on top of the mountains;
Its fruit will wave like the cedars of ^(OX)Lebanon;
And may those from the city flourish like the ^(OY)vegetation of the earth.
¹⁷ May his ^(OZ)name endure forever;
May his name produce descendants ^[fg](PA)as long as the sun shines;
And may people ^(PB)wish blessings on themselves by him;
^(PC)May all nations call him blessed.

^18 (PD)Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel,
Who alone ^(PE)works wonders.
¹⁹ And blessed be His ^(PF)glorious name forever;
And may the whole ^(PG)earth be filled with His glory.
^(PH)Amen and Amen.

²⁰ The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

¹⁰ Therefore ^[fo]his people return here,
And ^(PV)abundant waters are drunk by them.
¹¹ They say, “^(PW)How does God know?
And is there knowledge ^[fp]with the Most High?”
¹² Behold, ^(PX)these are the wicked;
And always ^(PY)at ease, they have increased in wealth.
¹³ Surely ^(PZ)in vain I have ^[fq]kept my heart pure
And ^(QA)washed my hands in innocence;
¹⁴ For I have been stricken ^(QB)all day long,
And ^[fr](QC)punished every morning.

¹⁵ If I had said, “I will speak this way,”
Behold, I would have betrayed the ^(QD)generation of Your children.
¹⁶ When I ^(QE)thought of understanding this,
It was ^[fs]troublesome in my sight
¹⁷ Until I entered the ^[ft](QF)sanctuary of God;
Then I perceived their ^(QG)end.
¹⁸ You indeed put them on ^(QH)slippery ground;
You dropped them into ^[fu](QI)ruin.
¹⁹ How they are ^[fv](QJ)destroyed in a moment!
They are utterly swept away by ^(QK)sudden terrors!
²⁰ Like a ^(QL)dream when one awakes,
Lord, when ^(QM)stirred, You will ^(QN)despise their image.

²¹ When my ^(QO)heart was embittered
And I was ^(QP)pierced ^[fw]within,
²² Then I was ^(QQ)stupid and ignorant;
I was like an ^(QR)animal ^[fx]before You.
²³ Nevertheless ^(QS)I am continually with You;
You have taken hold of my right hand.
²⁴ You will ^(QT)guide me with Your plan,
And afterward ^(QU)receive me ^[fy]to glory.

^25 (QV)Whom do I have in heaven but You?
And with You, I desire nothing on earth.
²⁶ My ^(QW)flesh and my heart may fail,
But God is the ^[fz]strength of my heart and my ^(QX)portion forever.
²⁷ For, behold, ^(QY)those who are far from You will ^(QZ)perish;
You have destroyed all those who ^[ga](RA)are unfaithful to You.
²⁸ But as for me, ^(RB)the nearness of God is good for me;
I have made the Lord ^[gb]God my ^(RC)refuge,
So that I may ^(RD)tell of all Your works.

¹² Yet God is ^(SC)my King from long ago,
Who performs acts of salvation in the midst of the earth.
^13 [gn]You ^(SD)divided the sea by Your strength;
^[go]You ^(SE)broke the heads of the ^(SF)sea monsters ^[gp]in the waters.
^14 [gq]You crushed the heads of ^[gr](SG)Leviathan;
You gave him as food for the ^[gs]creatures ^(SH)of the wilderness.
^15 [gt]You ^(SI)broke open springs and torrents;
^[gu]You ^(SJ)dried up ever-flowing streams.
¹⁶ Yours is the day, Yours also is the night;
^[gv]You have ^(SK)prepared the ^[gw]light and the sun.
^17 [gx]You have ^(SL)established all the boundaries of the earth;
^[gy]You have ^[gz]created ^(SM)summer and winter.

¹⁸ Remember this, ^[ha]Lord, that the enemy has ^(SN)taunted You,
And a ^(SO)foolish people has treated Your name disrespectfully.
¹⁹ Do not give the soul of Your ^(SP)turtledove to the wild animal;
^(SQ)Do not forget the life of Your afflicted forever.
²⁰ Consider the ^(SR)covenant;
For the ^(SS)dark places of the land are full of the places of violence.
²¹ May the ^(ST)oppressed person not return dishonored;
May the ^(SU)afflicted and the needy praise Your name.

²² Arise, God, and ^(SV)plead Your own cause;
Remember ^[hb]how the ^(SW)foolish person taunts You all day long.
²³ Do not forget the voice of Your ^(SX)adversaries,
The ^(SY)uproar of those who rise against You, which ascends continually.

⁶ For not from the east, nor from the west,
Nor from the ^[hf](TI)desert comes exaltation;
⁷ But ^(TJ)God is the Judge;
He ^(TK)puts down one and exalts another.
⁸ For a ^(TL)cup is in the hand of the Lord, and the wine foams;
It is ^[hg](TM)well mixed, and He pours out of this;
Certainly all the wicked of the earth must drain and ^(TN)drink its dregs.

⁹ But as for me, I will ^(TO)declare it forever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
¹⁰ And ^[hh]He will cut off all the ^(TP)horns of the wicked,
But ^(TQ)the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.

⁴ You are resplendent,
^[hl]More majestic than the mountains of prey.
⁵ The ^(TX)stouthearted were plundered,
^[hm]They sank into sleep;
And none of the ^[hn]warriors could use his hands.
⁶ At Your ^(TY)rebuke, God of Jacob,
Both ^[ho](TZ)rider and horse were cast into a dead sleep.
⁷ You, You indeed are ^(UA)to be feared,
And ^(UB)who may stand in Your presence, ^[hp]once You are angry?

⁸ You caused judgment to be heard from heaven;
The earth ^(UC)feared and was still
⁹ When God ^(UD)arose to judgment,
To save all the humble of the earth. Selah
¹⁰ For the ^[hq](UE)wrath of mankind shall praise You;
You will encircle Yourself with a remnant of wrath.

^11 (UF)Make vows to the Lord your God and ^(UG)fulfill them;
All who are around Him are to ^(UH)bring gifts to Him who is to be feared.
¹² He will cut off the spirit of princes;
He is ^[hr](UI)feared by the kings of the earth.

⁷ Will the Lord ^(UV)reject forever?
And will He ^(UW)never be favorable again?
⁸ Has His ^(UX)favor ceased forever?
Has His ^[hu](UY)promise come to an end ^[hv]forever?
⁹ Has God ^(UZ)forgotten to be gracious,
Or has He in anger ^[hw]withdrawn His ^(VA)compassion? Selah
¹⁰ Then I said, “^(VB)It is my ^[hx]grief,
That the ^(VC)right hand of the Most High has changed.”

¹¹ I shall remember the ^(VD)deeds of ^[hy]the Lord;
I will certainly ^(VE)remember Your wonders of old.
¹² I will ^(VF)meditate on all Your work,
And on Your deeds with thanksgiving.
¹³ Your way, God, is ^(VG)holy;
^(VH)What god is great like our God?
¹⁴ You are the ^(VI)God who works wonders;
You have ^(VJ)made known Your strength among the peoples.
¹⁵ By Your ^[hz]power You have ^(VK)redeemed Your people,
The sons of Jacob and ^(VL)Joseph. Selah

¹⁶ The ^(VM)waters saw You, God;
The waters saw You, they were in anguish;
The ocean depths also trembled.
¹⁷ The ^(VN)clouds poured out water;
The skies ^[ia](VO)sounded out;
Your ^(VP)arrows ^[ib]flashed here and there.
¹⁸ The ^(VQ)sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;
The ^(VR)lightning lit up the world;
The ^(VS)earth trembled and shook.
¹⁹ Your ^(VT)way was in the sea
And Your paths in the mighty waters,
And Your footprints were not known.
²⁰ You ^(VU)led Your people like a flock
By the hand of ^(VV)Moses and Aaron.

⁵ For He established a ^(WE)testimony in Jacob,
And appointed a ^(WF)law in Israel,
Which He ^(WG)commanded our fathers
That they were to ^[ie](WH)teach them to their children,
^6 (WI)So that the generation to come would know, ^(WJ)the children yet to be born,
That they would arise and ^(WK)tell them to their children,
⁷ So that they would put their confidence in God
And ^(WL)not forget the works of God,
But ^(WM)comply with His commandments,
⁸ And ^(WN)not be like their fathers,
A ^(WO)stubborn and rebellious generation,
A generation that ^(WP)did not ^[if]prepare its heart
And whose spirit was not ^(WQ)faithful to God.

⁹ The sons of Ephraim ^[ig]were ^(WR)archers equipped with bows,
Yet ^(WS)they turned back on the day of battle.
¹⁰ They ^(WT)did not keep the covenant of God
And refused to ^(WU)walk in His Law;
¹¹ They ^(WV)forgot His deeds
And His ^[ih]miracles that He had shown them.
^12 (WW)He performed wonders before their fathers
In the land of Egypt, in the ^(WX)field of Zoan.
¹³ He ^(WY)divided the sea and caused them to pass through,
And He made the waters stand ^(WZ)up like a heap.
¹⁴ Then He led them with the cloud by ^(XA)day
And all the night with a ^(XB)light of fire.
¹⁵ He ^(XC)split the rocks in the wilderness
And gave them plenty to drink like the ocean depths.
¹⁶ He ^(XD)brought forth streams from the rock
And made waters run down like rivers.

¹⁷ Yet they still continued to sin against Him,
To ^(XE)rebel against the Most High in the desert.
¹⁸ And in their heart they ^(XF)put God to the test
By asking for ^(XG)food ^[ii]that suited their taste.
¹⁹ Then they spoke against God;
They said, “^(XH)Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
²⁰ Behold, He ^(XI)struck the rock so that waters gushed out,
And streams were overflowing;
Can He also provide bread?
Will He prepare ^(XJ)meat for His people?”

²¹ Therefore the Lord heard and ^[ij]was ^(XK)full of wrath;
And a fire was kindled against Jacob,
And anger also mounted against Israel,
²² Because they ^(XL)did not believe in God
And did not trust in His salvation.
²³ Yet He commanded the clouds above
And ^(XM)opened the doors of heaven;
²⁴ He ^(XN)rained down manna upon them to eat,
And gave them ^[ik](XO)food from heaven.
²⁵ Man ate the bread of ^[il]angels;
He sent them ^[im]food ^[in](XP)in abundance.
²⁶ He ^(XQ)made the east wind blow in the sky
And by His ^[io]power He directed the south wind.
²⁷ When He rained meat upon them like the dust,
Even ^(XR)winged fowl like the sand of the seas,
²⁸ He let them fall in the midst of ^[ip]their camp,
All around their dwellings.
²⁹ So they ^(XS)ate and were well filled,
And He ^[iq]satisfied their longing.
^30 [ir]Yet before they had abandoned their longing,
^(XT)While their food was in their mouths,
³¹ The ^(XU)anger of God rose against them
And killed ^[is]some of their ^(XV)strongest ones,
And ^[it]subdued the choice men of Israel.
³² In spite of all this they ^(XW)still sinned
And ^(XX)did not believe in His wonderful works.
³³ So He brought ^(XY)their days to an end in futility,
And their years to an end in sudden terror.

³⁴ When He killed them, then they ^(XZ)sought Him,
And they returned and searched ^(YA)diligently for God;
³⁵ And they remembered that God was their ^(YB)rock,
And the Most High God their ^(YC)Redeemer.
³⁶ But they ^(YD)flattered Him with their mouth
And ^(YE)lied to Him with their tongue.
³⁷ For their heart was not ^(YF)steadfast toward Him,
Nor were they faithful with His covenant.
³⁸ But He, being ^(YG)compassionate, ^[iu](YH)forgave their wrongdoing and did not destroy them;
And often He ^[iv](YI)restrained His anger
And did not stir up all His wrath.
³⁹ So ^(YJ)He remembered that they were only ^(YK)flesh,
A ^[iw](YL)wind that passes and does not return.

⁴⁰ How often they ^(YM)rebelled against Him in the wilderness
And ^(YN)grieved Him in the ^(YO)desert!
⁴¹ Again and again they ^[ix](YP)tempted God,
And pained the ^(YQ)Holy One of Israel.
⁴² They ^(YR)did not remember ^(YS)His ^[iy]power,
The day when He ^(YT)redeemed them from the enemy,
⁴³ When He performed His ^(YU)signs in Egypt
And His ^(YV)marvels in the field of Zoan,
⁴⁴ And ^(YW)turned their rivers to blood,
And their streams, so that they could not drink.
⁴⁵ He sent swarms of ^(YX)flies among them that devoured them,
And ^(YY)frogs that destroyed them.
⁴⁶ He also gave their crops to the ^(YZ)grasshopper
And the product of their labor to the ^(ZA)locust.
⁴⁷ He ^[iz]destroyed their vines with ^(ZB)hailstones
And their sycamore trees with frost.
⁴⁸ He also turned their ^(ZC)cattle over to the hailstones,
And their herds to bolts of lightning.
⁴⁹ He ^(ZD)sent His burning anger upon them,
Fury and indignation and trouble,
A band of ^[ja]destroying angels.
⁵⁰ He leveled a path for His anger;
He did not spare their souls from death,
But ^(ZE)turned their lives over to the plague,
⁵¹ And ^(ZF)struck all the firstborn in Egypt,
The ^(ZG)first and best of their vigor in the tents of ^(ZH)Ham.
⁵² But He ^(ZI)led His own people out like sheep,
And guided them in the wilderness ^(ZJ)like a flock;
⁵³ He led them ^(ZK)safely, so that they did not fear;
But ^(ZL)the sea engulfed their enemies.

⁵⁴ So ^(ZM)He brought them to His holy ^[jb]land,
To this ^[jc](ZN)hill country ^(ZO)which His right hand had gained.
⁵⁵ He also ^(ZP)drove out the nations from them
And ^(ZQ)apportioned them as an inheritance by measurement,
And had the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.
⁵⁶ Yet they ^[jd](ZR)tempted and ^(ZS)rebelled against the Most High God
And did not keep His testimonies,
⁵⁷ But turned back and ^(ZT)acted treacherously like their fathers;
They ^(ZU)turned aside like a treacherous bow.
⁵⁸ For they ^(ZV)provoked Him with their ^(ZW)high places
And ^(ZX)moved Him to jealousy with their ^(ZY)carved images.
⁵⁹ When God heard them, He ^[je]was filled with ^(ZZ)wrath
And He utterly ^(AAA)rejected Israel;
⁶⁰ So that He ^(AAB)abandoned the ^(AAC)dwelling place at Shiloh,
The tent ^[jf]which He had pitched among people,
⁶¹ And He gave up His ^(AAD)strength to captivity
And His glory ^(AAE)into the hand of the enemy.
⁶² He also ^(AAF)turned His people over to the sword,
And ^[jg]was filled with wrath at His inheritance.
^63 (AAG)Fire devoured ^[jh]His young men,
And ^[ji]His ^(AAH)virgins had no wedding songs.
^64 [jj]His ^(AAI)priests fell by the sword,
And ^[jk]His ^(AAJ)widows could not weep.

⁶⁵ Then the Lord ^(AAK)awoke as if from sleep,
Like a ^(AAL)warrior ^[jl]overcome by wine.
⁶⁶ He ^[jm](AAM)drove His adversaries backward;
He put on them an everlasting disgrace.
⁶⁷ He also ^(AAN)rejected the tent of Joseph,
And did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,
⁶⁸ But chose the tribe of Judah,
Mount ^(AAO)Zion, which He loved.
⁶⁹ And He ^(AAP)built His sanctuary like the heights,
Like the earth which He has established forever.
⁷⁰ He also ^(AAQ)chose His servant David
And took him from the sheepfolds;
⁷¹ From ^[jn](AAR)the care of the ^[jo]ewes ^(AAS)with nursing lambs He brought him
To ^(AAT)shepherd Jacob His people,
And Israel ^(AAU)His inheritance.
⁷² So he shepherded them according to the ^(AAV)integrity of his heart,
And guided them with his skillful hands.

^8 (ABL)Do not ^[jr]hold us responsible for ^[js]the guilty deeds of our forefathers;
Let Your compassion come quickly to ^(ABM)meet us,
For we have ^(ABN)become very low.
^9 (ABO)Help us, God of our salvation, for the glory of ^(ABP)Your name;
And save us and ^[jt](ABQ)forgive our sins ^(ABR)for the sake of Your name.
^10 (ABS)Why should the nations say, “Where is their God?”
Let ^(ABT)vengeance for the blood of Your servants which has been shed
Be known among the nations in our sight.
¹¹ Let ^(ABU)the groaning of the prisoner come before You;
According to the greatness of Your ^[ju]power, let ^[jv]those who are ^(ABV)doomed to die remain.
¹² And return to our neighbors ^(ABW)seven times as much ^(ABX)into their lap
Their ^(ABY)taunts with which they have taunted You, Lord.
¹³ So we Your people and the ^(ABZ)sheep of Your ^[jw]pasture
Will ^(ACA)give thanks to You forever;
To all generations we will ^(ACB)tell of Your praise.

^4 (ACJ)Lord God of armies,
^(ACK)How long will You ^[ka]be angry with the prayer of Your people?
⁵ You have fed them with the ^(ACL)bread of tears,
And You have made them drink tears in ^[kb]large measure.
⁶ You make us ^[kc]an object of contention ^(ACM)to our neighbors,
And our enemies laugh among themselves.
⁷ God of armies, restore us
And make Your face shine upon us, ^[kd]and we will be saved.

⁸ You removed a ^(ACN)vine from Egypt;
You ^(ACO)drove out the ^[ke]nations and ^(ACP)planted it.
⁹ You ^(ACQ)cleared the ground before it,
And it ^(ACR)took deep root and filled the land.
¹⁰ The mountains were covered with its shadow,
And ^[kf]the cedars of God with its ^(ACS)branches.
¹¹ It was sending out its branches ^(ACT)to the sea
And its shoots to the Euphrates River.
¹² Why have You ^(ACU)broken down its ^[kg]hedges,
So that all who pass that way pick its fruit?
¹³ A boar from the forest ^(ACV)eats it away,
And whatever moves in the field feeds on it.

¹⁴ God of armies, do ^(ACW)turn back;
^(ACX)Look down from heaven and see, and take care of this vine,
¹⁵ The ^[kh](ACY)shoot which Your right hand has planted,
And of the ^[ki]son whom You have ^[kj]strengthened for Yourself.
¹⁶ It is ^(ACZ)burned with fire, it is cut down;
They perish from the ^(ADA)rebuke of Your face.
¹⁷ Let ^(ADB)Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand,
Upon the son of man whom You ^(ADC)made strong for Yourself.
¹⁸ Then we will not ^(ADD)turn back from You;
^(ADE)Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.
¹⁹ Lord God of armies, ^(ADF)restore us;
Make Your face shine upon us, ^[kk]and we will be saved.

⁶ “I ^[kn](ADR)relieved his shoulder of the burden,
His hands were freed from the ^[ko]basket.
⁷ You ^(ADS)called in trouble and I rescued you;
I ^(ADT)answered you in the hiding place of thunder;
I put you to the test at the ^(ADU)waters of Meribah. Selah
^8 (ADV)Hear, My people, and I will admonish you;
Israel, if you ^(ADW)would listen to Me!
⁹ There shall be no ^(ADX)strange god among you;
Nor shall you worship a foreign god.
^10 (ADY)I, the Lord, am your God,
Who brought you up from the land of Egypt;
^(ADZ)Open your mouth wide and I will ^(AEA)fill it.

¹¹ “But My people ^(AEB)did not listen to My voice,
And Israel did not ^[kp]obey Me.
¹² So I ^(AEC)gave ^[kq]them over to the stubbornness of their heart,
To walk by their own plans.
¹³ Oh that My people ^(AED)would listen to Me,
That Israel would ^(AEE)walk in My ways!
¹⁴ I would quickly ^(AEF)subdue their enemies
And ^(AEG)turn My hand against their adversaries.
^15 (AEH)Those who hate the Lord would ^(AEI)pretend to obey Him,
And their time of punishment would be forever.
^16 [kr]But I would feed you with the ^[ks](AEJ)finest of the wheat,
And with ^(AEK)honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

⁵ They ^(AES)do not know nor do they understand;
They ^(AET)walk around in darkness;
All the ^(AEU)foundations of the earth are shaken.
^6 [ku]I ^(AEV)said, “You are gods,
And all of you are ^(AEW)sons of the Most High.
⁷ Nevertheless ^(AEX)you will die like men,
And fall like ^(AEY)one of the princes.”
^8 (AEZ)Arise, God, ^(AFA)judge the earth!
For You ^(AFB)possess all the nations.

⁹ Deal with them ^(AFX)as with Midian,
As ^(AFY)with Sisera and Jabin at the river of Kishon,
¹⁰ Who were destroyed at En-dor,
Who ^(AFZ)became like dung for the ground.
¹¹ Make their nobles like ^(AGA)Oreb and Zeeb,
And all their leaders like ^(AGB)Zebah and Zalmunna,
¹² Who said, “^(AGC)Let’s possess for ourselves
The ^(AGD)pastures of God.”

¹³ My God, make them like the ^[lb](AGE)whirling dust,
Like ^(AGF)chaff before the wind.
¹⁴ Like ^(AGG)fire that burns the forest,
And like a flame that ^(AGH)sets the mountains on fire,
¹⁵ So pursue them ^(AGI)with Your heavy gale,
And terrify them with Your storm.
^16 (AGJ)Fill their faces with dishonor,
So that they will seek Your name, Lord.
¹⁷ May they be ^(AGK)ashamed and dismayed forever,
And may they be humiliated and perish,
¹⁸ So that they will ^(AGL)know that ^(AGM)You alone, whose name is the Lord,
Are the ^(AGN)Most High over all the earth.

⁵ Blessed is the person whose ^(AGV)strength is in You,
In ^[ld]whose heart are the ^(AGW)roads to Zion!
⁶ Passing through the Valley of ^[le]Baca they make it a ^[lf]spring;
The ^(AGX)early rain also covers it with blessings.
⁷ They ^(AGY)go from strength to strength,
^[lg]Every one of them ^(AGZ)appears before God in Zion.

^8 (AHA)Lord God of armies, hear my prayer;
Listen, ^(AHB)God of Jacob! Selah
⁹ See our ^(AHC)shield, God,
And look at the face of ^(AHD)Your anointed.
¹⁰ For ^(AHE)a day in Your courtyards is better than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God
Than live in the tents of wickedness.
¹¹ For the Lord God is ^(AHF)a sun and ^(AHG)shield;
The Lord gives grace and ^(AHH)glory;
^(AHI)He withholds no good thing ^[lh]from those who walk with integrity.
¹² Lord of armies,
^(AHJ)Blessed is the person who trusts in You!

^4 (AHQ)Restore us, God of our salvation,
And ^(AHR)cause Your indignation toward us to cease.
⁵ Will ^(AHS)You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to ^[li]all generations?
⁶ Will You not ^[lj](AHT)revive us again,
So that Your people may ^(AHU)rejoice in You?
⁷ Show us Your mercy, Lord,
And ^(AHV)grant us Your salvation.

^8 [lk]I will hear what God the Lord will say;
For He will ^(AHW)speak peace to His people, to His godly ones;
And may they not ^(AHX)turn back to ^[ll]foolishness.
⁹ Certainly ^(AHY)His salvation is near to those who ^[lm]fear Him,
That ^(AHZ)glory may dwell in our land.
^10 (AIA)Graciousness and ^[ln]truth have met together;
^(AIB)Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
^11 [lo]Truth ^(AIC)sprouts from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.
¹² Indeed, ^(AID)the Lord will give what is good,
And our ^(AIE)land will yield its produce.
^13 (AIF)Righteousness will go before Him
And will make His footsteps into a way.

^11 (AJA)Teach me Your way, Lord;
I will walk in Your truth;
^(AJB)Unite my heart to fear Your name.
¹² I will ^(AJC)give thanks to You, Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forever.
¹³ For Your graciousness toward me is great,
And You have ^(AJD)saved my soul from the ^[lr]depths of ^[ls]Sheol.

¹⁴ God, arrogant men have ^(AJE)risen up against me,
And a gang of violent men have sought my ^[lt]life,
And they have not set You before them.
¹⁵ But You, Lord, are a ^(AJF)compassionate and gracious God,
Slow to anger and abundant in mercy and ^[lu]truth.
^16 (AJG)Turn to me, and be gracious to me;
^(AJH)Grant Your strength to Your servant,
And save the ^(AJI)son of Your maidservant.
^17 (AJJ)Show me a sign of good,
That those who hate me may ^(AJK)see it and be ashamed,
Because You, Lord, ^(AJL)have helped me and comforted me.
