The NIV 365 Day Devotional
Valuing Mentors
In our day it’s easy to become isolated and withdrawn. We don’t often get together as people did in times gone by for potluck dinners, church socials or over-the-fence visits.
You may long for someone to mentor you and advise you regarding how to handle your many roles and responsibilities. If so, ask God to send you someone who is wise and supportive. Or you may be in a position to fill that role for someone else. If so, keep your eyes open for such a young person so you can befriend him or her. They may need you as much as you need them. Pray that God will lead you to him or her and that you will have the courage to be a light in the fog.
Reflect and Pray: What are the characteristics of your ideal mentor? What are some ways you can reach out to an older, wiser person and invite him or her to be a part of your life? What life experiences do you have to offer another younger person?
Read and pray through 2 Timothy to explore Paul’s mentorship to Timothy and learn more on this topic.
Word to take with you today: Mentor.
