Matthew 5:37

But let your communication be ‘yea, yea’ or ‘nay, nay’; for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
But let your speech be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: and whatsoever is more than these is of the evil one.
But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’ [a firm yes or no]; anything more than that comes from the evil one.
Let your Yes be simply Yes, and your No be simply No; anything more than that comes from the evil one.
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
But let your ‘yes’ mean ‘yes,’ and your ‘no’ mean ‘no.’ Anything more than this is from the evil one.
Let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no. Anything more than this comes from the evil one.
Just let your ‘Yes’ be a simple ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ a simple ‘No’; anything more than this has its origin in evil.
When you make a promise, say only “Yes” or “No.” Anything else comes from the devil.
But let your word be Yea, yea; Nay, nay; but what is more than these is from evil.
But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’, [or] ‘No, no’. And the thing beyond these is from the evil one.
But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.
Say only ‘yes’ if you mean ‘yes,’ and say only ‘no’ if you mean ‘no.’ If you say more than that, it is from the Evil One.
Instead, when you make a promise, you should say only “Yes, I will do it.” Or you should say only “No, I will not do it.” If you say anything more than this, what you say is bad. It comes from Satan.’
Instead, let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes,’ or ‘No, no.’ Whatever goes beyond these is from the Evil One.
Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.
Let what you say be simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything more than this comes from evil.
·Say only yes if you mean yes, and no if you mean no [L Let your word “yes” be “yes”; your “no” be “no”]. ·If you say more than yes or no, it [L Anything more than this] is from the Evil One.
But let your communication be Yea, yea: Nay, nay. For whatsoever is more than these, cometh of evil.
Simply say yes or no. Anything more than that comes from the evil one.
Just say ‘Yes’ or ‘No’—anything else you say comes from the Evil One.
But let your word ‘yes’ be ‘yes,’ and your ‘no’ be ‘no.’ Anything more than this is from the evil one.
Say only ‘yes’ if you mean ‘yes,’ and say only ‘no’ if you mean ‘no.’ If you must say more than ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ it is from the Evil One.
Instead, let your message be ‘Yes’ for ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ for ‘No.’ Anything more than that comes from the evil one.”
“Again, you have heard that the people in the old days were told—‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord’, but I say to you, don’t use an oath at all. Don’t swear by Heaven for it is God’s throne, nor by the earth for it is his footstool, nor by Jerusalem for it is the city of the great king. No, and don’t swear by your own head, for you cannot make a single hair—white or black! Whatever you have to say let your ‘yes’ be a plain ‘yes’ and your ‘no’ a plain ‘no’—anything more than this has a taint of evil.
But let your communication be, Yes, yes; No, no; for whatsoever is more than this comes of evil.
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of the evil one.
But let your statement be ‘Yes, yes; no, no,’ and anything beyond these is from the evil one.
Say just a simple ‘Yes, I will’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Your word is enough. To strengthen your promise with a vow shows that something is wrong.
“And don’t say anything you don’t mean. This counsel is embedded deep in our traditions. You only make things worse when you lay down a smoke screen of pious talk, saying, ‘I’ll pray for you,’ and never doing it, or saying, ‘God be with you,’ and not meaning it. You don’t make your words true by embellishing them with religious lace. In making your speech sound more religious, it becomes less true. Just say ‘yes’ and ‘no.’ When you manipulate words to get your own way, you go wrong.
But let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these comes from the evil one.
But let what you say be a simple ‘Yes, Yes,’ or ‘No, No;’ · · anything more than this comes from the evil one.
Simply say yes or no. Anything more than that comes from the evil one.
Let your ‘Yes’ mean ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No’ mean ‘No.’ Anything more is from the evil one.
But make sure your statement is, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of evil origin.
But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of evil.
All you need to do is to say ‘Yes’ if you mean ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ if you mean ‘No.’ Anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
Say only yes if you mean yes, and no if you mean no. If you say more than yes or no, it is from the Evil One.
Let your word be ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no.’ More than this is from the evil one.
All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’ Anything more than this comes from the evil one.
All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.
All you need to say is simply “Yes,” or “No”; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

But let your word be ken, ken (yes, yes) or lo, lo (no, no), but anything beyond this is lashon horah.

But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.
You must mean "Yes" when you say "Yes". You must mean "No" when you say "No". To say anything more than that is wrong.'
