Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts that the people shall labor in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
Behold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?
“Is it not indeed from the Lord of hosts That peoples labor [only] for the fire [that will destroy their work], And nations grow weary for nothing [that is, things which have no lasting value]?
Behold, is it not by appointment of the Lord of hosts that the nations toil only to satisfy the fire [that will consume their work], and the peoples weary themselves only for emptiness, falsity, and futility?
Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
Is it not from the Lord of Armies that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?
Look, isn’t this from the Lord of heavenly forces? Peoples grow weary from making just enough fire; nations become tired for nothing.
so that people toil for what will be burned up, and nations exhaust themselves to no purpose. Isn’t all this from Adonai-Tzva’ot?
But the Lord All-Powerful sends up in flames what nations and people work so hard to gain.
Behold, is it not of Jehovah of hosts that the peoples labour for the fire, and the nations weary themselves in vain?
Are not these things from the Lord of hosts? for the people shall labour in a great fire: and the nations in vain, and they shall faint.
But the Lord All-Powerful has decided that a fire will destroy everything that those people worked to build. All their work will be for nothing.
Listen! The Lord Almighty has commanded this: All the work that people do to get things for themselves is useless. The things that the nations work so hard to get will become smoke!
Be sure of this: The Lord of Armies has determined that the things for which the peoples of the world labor are only fuel for the fire, and that the nations tire themselves out with nothing to show for it.
Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing?
Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labour merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing?
[L Look; T Behold] The Lord ·All-Powerful [Almighty; of Heaven’s Armies; T of hosts] will send fire to destroy what those people have built; all the nations’ ·work [weariness] will be for nothing.
Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts, that the people shall labor in the very fire? the people shall even weary themselves for very vanity.
Isn’t it from the Lord of Armies that people grow tired only to feed the flames and nations exhaust themselves for nothing?
The nations you conquered wore themselves out in useless labor, and all they have built goes up in flames. The Lord Almighty has done this.
Is it not from the Lord of Hosts that the peoples labor only to fuel the fire and countries exhaust themselves for nothing?
The Lord of heaven’s armies will send fire to destroy what those people have built. All the nations’ work will be for nothing.
Is it not because of the Lord of the Heavenly Armies that people grow tired putting out fires, and nations weary themselves over nothing?
Is this not of the LORD of the hosts? Therefore the peoples shall labour for the fire, and the Gentiles shall weary themselves in vain.
Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts that the people shall labour in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity?
Is it not, behold, from Yahweh of hosts That peoples toil for fire, And nations grow weary for nothing?
Look! Is it not from Yahweh of hosts that people labor for mere fire, and nations exhaust themselves for mere vanity?
Has not the Lord decreed that godless nations’ gains will turn to ashes in their hands? They work so hard, but all in vain!
“Who do you think you are— building a town by murder, a city with crime? Don’t you know that God-of-the-Angel-Armies makes sure nothing comes of that but ashes, Makes sure the harder you work at that kind of thing, the less you are? Meanwhile the earth fills up with awareness of God’s glory as the waters cover the sea.
Is it not from the Lord of Hosts that the people labor to feed fire, and the nations weary themselves for nothing?
Isn’t it from Yahweh Tsebaoth that people grow tired only to feed the flames and nations exhaust themselves for nothing?
Is this not from the Lord of hosts: peoples toil for what the flames consume, and nations grow weary for nothing!
Is it not indeed from the Lord of armies That peoples labor merely for fire, And nations become weary for nothing?
“Is it not indeed from the Lord of hosts That peoples toil for fire, And nations grow weary for nothing?
Is it not in the eternal design of the Lord of hosts that what the people labor for is destined for the flames, and that everything the nations exhaust themselves to achieve will come to naught.
The Lord All-Powerful will send fire to destroy what those people have built; all the nations’ work will be for nothing.
Be sure of this! The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has decreed: The nations’ efforts will go up in smoke; their exhausting work will be for nothing.
I am the Lord who rules over all. Human effort is no better than wood that feeds a fire. So the nations wear themselves out for nothing.
Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?
Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people’s labour is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?
Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts That the peoples labor to feed the fire, And nations weary themselves in vain?
Is it not the will of the All-powerful Lord that people work for what will burn up and nations make themselves tired for nothing?
Has not the Lord of Heaven’s Armies promised that the wealth of nations will turn to ashes? They work so hard, but all in vain!
Is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labour only to feed the flames, and nations weary themselves for nothing?
Is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labour only to feed the flames, and nations weary themselves for nothing?
Is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor only to feed the flames, and nations weary themselves for nothing?
Is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor only to feed the flames and nations weary themselves for nothing?
Hinei, is it not from Hashem Tzva’os that the people shall labor only to feed the eish, and the people shall weary themselves in vain?
“Behold, is it not of the LORD of Hosts that the people shall labor in the very fire? The people shall weary themselves for frivolity.
Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor only for fire, and nations weary themselves for nought?
Behold, is it not from the Lord of hosts that peoples labor only for fire, and nations weary themselves for nought?
Behold, is it not from Adonai-Tzva’ot that peoples toil to fuel a fire, and nations exhaust themselves for emptiness?
Look! Is it not because of the Eternal, the Commander of heavenly armies, that all the people work for is consumed in fire And that all the nations produce comes to nothing?
Behold, isn’t it of Yahweh of Armies that the peoples labor for the fire, and the nations weary themselves for vanity?
Whether not these things be of the Lord of hosts? For peoples shall travail in much fire, and folks in vain, and they shall fail. (Be not all these things from the Lord of hosts? For peoples and nations shall labour, or shall struggle, amid much fire, or much adversity, and all for nothing, for they all shall fail.)
Lo, is it not from Jehovah of Hosts And peoples are fatigued for fire, And nations for vanity are weary?
