Ezekiel 28:9
Print
Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, “I am God”? But thou shalt be a man, and no god in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou art man, and not God, in the hand of him that woundeth thee.
‘Will you still say, “I am a god,” In the presence of him who kills you? But you are [only] a man [made of earth] and not God, In the hands of those who wound and profane you.
Will you still say, I am a god, before him who slays you? But you are only a man [made of earth] and no god in the hand of him who wounds and profanes you.
Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Will you still say, “I am a god,” in the presence of those who slay you? Yet you will be only a man, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you.
When you face your murderers, will you still say, “I’m God”? In your killers’ hands, you are mortal, not divine.
Will you still say, “I am God,” to them who are about to kill you? You are a man, you are not God, in the hands of those who defile you.
When you face your enemies, will you still claim to be a god? They will attack, and you will suffer like any other human.
Wilt thou then say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and not God, in the hand of him that pierceth thee.
Wilt thou yet say before them that slay thee: I am God; whereas thou art a man, and not God, in the hand of them that slay thee?
That person will kill you. Will you still say, “I am a god”? No, he will have you in his power! You will see that you are a man, not God!
When your enemies attack you, you will no longer say, ‘I am a god.’ When they are ready to kill you, you will know that you are only human.
Will you still claim “I am a god” in the presence of the one who kills you? It will be clear that you are merely a man and not a god when you fall into the hands of those who run you through.
Will you still say, ‘I am a god,’ in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a man, and no god, in the hands of those who slay you?
Will you still say, ‘I am a god’, in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a man, and no god, in the hands of those who slay you?
·While they are killing you [L In the presence of those killing you], ·you will not [L will you…?] be able to say anymore, “I am a god.” You will be only a human, not a god, ·when your murderers kill you [L in the hands of those who kill you].
Wilt thou say then before him that slayeth thee, I am a god? but thou shalt be a man, and no god, in the hands of him that slayeth thee.
You will no longer say that you are a god when you face those who kill you. You will be a human, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you.
When they come to kill you, will you still claim that you are a god? When you face your murderers, you will be mortal and not at all divine.
Will you still say, ‘I am a god,’ in the presence of those who kill you? Yet you will be only a man, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you.
While they are killing you, you will not be able to say anymore, “I am a god.” You will be only a man, not a god, when your murderers kill you.
Is that when you’ll say, ‘I’m God’ to the face of those who will be killing you? After all, you’re a man, and have never been a god, especially when you’re under the control of those who will defile you!
Wilt thou yet say before him that slays thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and not God, in the hand of him that slays thee.
Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Will you still say, “I am a god,” In the presence of the one who kills you, Though you are a man and not God, In the hands of those who slay you?
Will you indeed still say “I am a god!” before the face of your killers? And in fact you are a human and not a god in the hand of those who pierce you.
Then will you boast as a god? At least to these invaders you will be no god, but merely man!
“‘Therefore, God, the Master, says: “‘Because you’re acting like a god, pretending to be a god, I’m giving fair warning: I’m bringing strangers down on you, the most vicious of all nations. They’ll pull their swords and make hash of your reputation for knowing it all. They’ll puncture the balloon of your god-pretensions. They’ll bring you down from your self-made pedestal and bury you in the deep blue sea. Will you protest to your assassins, “You can’t do that! I’m a god”? To them you’re a mere mortal. They’re killing a man, not a god. You’ll die like a stray dog, killed by strangers— Because I said so. Decree of God, the Master.’” God’s Message came to me: “Son of man, raise a funeral song over the king of Tyre. Tell him, A Message from God, the Master: “You had everything going for you. You were in Eden, God’s garden. You were dressed in splendor, your robe studded with jewels: Carnelian, peridot, and moonstone, beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald, all in settings of engraved gold. A robe was prepared for you the same day you were created. You were the anointed cherub. I placed you on the mountain of God. You strolled in magnificence among the stones of fire. From the day of your creation you were sheer perfection . . .  and then imperfection—evil!—was detected in you. In much buying and selling you turned violent, you sinned! I threw you, disgraced, off the mountain of God. I threw you out—you, the anointed angel-cherub. No more strolling among the gems of fire for you! Your beauty went to your head. You corrupted wisdom by using it to get worldly fame. I threw you to the ground, sent you sprawling before an audience of kings and let them gloat over your demise. By sin after sin after sin, by your corrupt ways of doing business, you defiled your holy places of worship. So I set a fire around and within you. It burned you up. I reduced you to ashes. All anyone sees now when they look for you is ashes, a pitiful mound of ashes. All who once knew you now throw up their hands: ‘This can’t have happened! This has happened!’” * * *
Will you yet say before him who slays you, “I am a god,” although you are a man and not God, in the hands of those who wound you?
You will no longer say that you are a god when you face those who kill you. You will be a human, not a god, in the hands of those who kill you.
Then, face to face with your killers, will you still say, “I am a god”? No, you are a man, not a god, handed over to those who slay you.
Will you still say, “I am a god,” In the presence of one who kills you, Though you are a mortal and not God, In the hands of those who wound you?
‘Will you still say, “I am a god,” In the presence of your slayer, Though you are a man and not God, In the hands of those who wound you?
Will you then still say, “I am a god,” when your murderers confront you? No, you are a man, not a god, in the hands of those about to slay you.
While they are killing you, you will not be able to say anymore, “I am a god.” You will be only a human, not a god, when your murderers kill you.
Will you still say, “I am a god,” before the one who kills you— though you are a man and not a god— when you are in the power of those who wound you?
Then will you say, ‘I am a god’? Will you say that to those who kill you? You will be only a human being to those who kill you. You will not be a god to them.
Will you then say, “I am a god,” in the presence of those who kill you? You will be but a mortal, not a god, in the hands of those who slay you.
Will you then say, ‘I am a god,’ in the presence of those who kill you? You will be but a mortal, not a god, in the hands of those who slay you.
“Will you still say before him who slays you, ‘I am a god’? But you shall be a man, and not a god, In the hand of him who slays you.
Will you still say, “I am a god,” in front of those who kill you? You will be only a man and not a god in the hands of those who kill you.
Will you then boast, ‘I am a god!’ to those who kill you? To them you will be no god but merely a man!
Will you still say, ‘I am a god’, in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a mortal, and no god, in the hands of those who wound you?
Will you still say, ‘I am a god’, in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a mortal, and no god, in the hands of those who wound you?
Will you still say, “I am a god,” in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a mortal, and no god, in the hands of those who wound you?
Will you still say, “I am a god,” in the presence of those who kill you, though you are but a mortal and no god, in the hands of those who pierce you?
Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, Elohim ani? But thou art adam, and no El, in the yad of him that slayeth thee.
“Will you then say before him who kills you, ‘I am a god?’ But you shall be a man, and not God, in the hands of him who kills you.
Will you still say, ‘I am a god,’ in the presence of those who slay you, though you are but a man, and no god, in the hands of those who wound you?
Will you still say, ‘I am a god,’ in the presence of those who slay you, though you are but a man, and no god, in the hands of those who wound you?
Will you still say, ‘I am a god’ before the one who slays you? Yet you are man, and not a god, in the hand of those who pierce you.
At that moment, will you protest to your executioners, “But I’m a god!”? To those who strike you down you are no god. To them, you are nothing more than a mortal man.
Will you yet say before him who kills you, ‘I am God’? But you are man, and not God, in the hand of him who wounds you.
Whether thou shalt say, and speak, I am God, before them that slay thee; since thou art a man, and not God? In the hand of them that slay thee, (Shalt thou speak, and say, I am a god, before those who shall kill thee; since thou art but a man, and not a god? In the hands of those who shall kill thee,)
Dost thou really say, `I [am] God,' Before him who is slaying thee? And thou [art] man, and not God, In the hand of him who is piercing thee.
