1 Corinthians 2:1
Print
And I, brethren, when I came to you declaring unto you the testimony of God, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom.
And I, brethren, when I came unto you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
And when I came to you, brothers and sisters, proclaiming to you the testimony of God [concerning salvation through Christ], I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom [no lofty words of eloquence or of philosophy as a Greek orator might do];
As for myself, brethren, when I came to you, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony and evidence or mystery and secret of God [concerning what He has done through Christ for the salvation of men] in lofty words of eloquence or human philosophy and wisdom;
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, announcing the mystery of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I didn’t come preaching God’s secrets to you like I was an expert in speech or wisdom.
As for me, brothers, when I arrived among you, it was not with surpassing eloquence or wisdom that I came announcing to you the previously concealed truth about God;
Friends, when I came and told you the mystery that God had shared with us, I didn't use big words or try to sound wise.
And *I*, when I came to you, brethren, came not in excellency of word, or wisdom, announcing to you the testimony of God.
And I, having come to you, brothers, did not come in accordance with superiority of speech or of wisdom while proclaiming to you the mystery of God.
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not in loftiness of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of Christ.
Dear brothers and sisters, when I came to you, I told you the secret truth of God. But I did not use fancy words or great wisdom.
Christian friends, I came to tell you God's true message. I did not use clever words when I spoke to you. I did not try to make you think that I was very wise.
As for me, brothers, when I came to you, I did not come with superior speech or wisdom in order to proclaim to you the testimony of God.
And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.
And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.
Dear brothers and sisters, when I came to you, I did not come preaching God’s ·secret [mystery; C something God had not previously disclosed; Eph. 1:9] with ·fancy [superior; eloquent] words or a show of human wisdom.
1 He setteth down a platform of his preaching, 4 which was base in respect of man’s wisdom, 7, 13 but noble in respect of the spiritual power and efficacy. 14 And so concludeth that flesh and blood cannot rightly judge thereof. And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of words, or of wisdom, showing unto you the testimony of God.
Brothers and sisters, when I came to you, I didn’t speak about God’s mystery  as if it were some kind of brilliant message or wisdom.
When I came to you, my friends, to preach God's secret truth, I did not use big words and great learning.
When I came to you, brothers, announcing the testimony of God to you, I did not come with brilliance of speech or wisdom.
Dear brothers, when I came to you, I did not come as a proud man. I preached God’s truth, but not with fancy words or a show of great learning.
When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come and tell you about God’s secret with rhetorical language or wisdom.
In the same way, my brothers, when I came to proclaim to you God’s secret purpose, I did not come equipped with any brilliance of speech or intellect. You may as well know now that it was my secret determination to concentrate entirely on Jesus Christ and the fact of his death upon the cross. As a matter of fact, in myself I was feeling far from strong; I was nervous and rather shaky. What I said and preached had none of the attractiveness of the clever mind, but it was a demonstration of the power of the Spirit! Plainly God’s purpose was that your faith should not rest upon man’s cleverness but upon the power of God.
¶ And I, brothers, when I came to you, came not with puffed up speech or wisdom to declare unto you the testimony of God.
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
And when I came to you, brothers, I did not come with superiority of word or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the witness of God.
And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
Dear brothers, even when I first came to you I didn’t use lofty words and brilliant ideas to tell you God’s message.
You’ll remember, friends, that when I first came to you to let you in on God’s sheer genius, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy. I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who he is; then Jesus and what he did—Jesus crucified.
Brothers, when I came to you, I did not come with superiority of speech or wisdom, declaring to you the testimony of God.
When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom as I told you about the secret purpose of God.
Brothers and sisters, when I came to you, I didn’t speak about God’s mystery as if it were some kind of brilliant message or wisdom.
When I came to you, brothers, proclaiming the mystery of God, I did not come with sublimity of words or of wisdom.
And when I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come as someone superior in speaking ability or wisdom, as I proclaimed to you the testimony of God.
And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
When I came to you, brethren, I did not proclaim to you the mystery of God with words of eloquence or wisdom.
Dear brothers and sisters, when I came to you, I did not come preaching God’s secret with fancy words or a show of human wisdom.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come with superior eloquence or wisdom as I proclaimed the testimony of God.
And this was the way it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I didn’t come with fancy words or human wisdom. I preached to you the truth about God’s love.
And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.
Christian brothers, when I came to you, I did not preach the secrets of God with big sounding words or make it sound as if I were so wise.
When I first came to you, dear brothers and sisters, I didn’t use lofty words and impressive wisdom to tell you God’s secret plan.
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not in gloriousness of words or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming the mystery of God to you in lofty words or wisdom.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come proclaiming the testimony of God to you with superior speech or wisdom.
This is how it was for me, too, my dear family. When I came to you, I didn’t come and proclaim God’s mystery to you by means of a superior style of speaking or wisdom.
When I came to you, Achim b’Moshiach, I did not come preaching and announcing to you the sod Hashem (mystery of G-d) as a ba’al melitzot (rhetorician, fine talker) or in the excellence of chochmah.
And I, brothers, when I came to you, came not with excellency of words, or of wisdom, showing to you the testimony of God.
When I came to you, brethren, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God in lofty words or wisdom.
When I came to you, brethren, I did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God in lofty words or wisdom.
When I came to you, brothers and sisters, I did not come with excellence of speech or wisdom, proclaiming to you the mystery of God.
My brothers and sisters, I did not pose as an expert with all the answers. I did not pretend to explain the mystery of God with eloquent speech and human wisdom.
When I came to you, brothers, I didn’t come with excellence of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
So, my brothers, when I came to you, I did not come to tell you God's message in big or wise words.
And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not in the highness of word, either of wisdom [or of wisdom], telling to you the witnessing of Christ.
And I, having come unto you, brethren, came -- not in superiority of discourse or wisdom -- declaring to you the testimony of God,
