What say I then? That the idol is anything, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything?
What say I then? that a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What do I mean then? That a thing offered to idols is anything [special or changed simply because it is offered], or that an idol is anything?
What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is [intrinsically changed by the fact and amounts to] anything or that an idol itself is a [living] thing?
What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
What am I saying then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What am I saying then? That food sacrificed to a false god is anything, or that a false god is anything?
So, what am I saying? That food sacrificed to idols has any significance in itself? or that an idol has significance in itself?
Am I saying that either the idols or the food sacrificed to them is anything at all?
What then do I say? that what is sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?
Therefore what am I saying? That food-sacrificed-to-an-idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What then? Do I say, that what is offered in sacrifice to idols, is any thing? Or, that the idol is any thing?
So, am I saying that sacrifices to idols are the same as those Jewish sacrifices? No, because an idol is nothing, and the things offered to idols are worth nothing.
So think about food that people offer to idols as a sacrifice. I am not saying that the idols are real gods. The food that people offer to them is not special food.
So what am I saying? That food from idol sacrifices is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
·I do not mean [L What, then, am I saying…?] that the food sacrificed to an idol is important or that an idol is anything at all.
What say I then? that the idol is anything? or that that which is sacrificed to idols, is anything?
Do I mean that an offering made to a false god is anything, or that a false god itself is anything?
Do I imply, then, that an idol or the food offered to it really amounts to anything?
What am I saying then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
I do not mean that the food sacrificed to an idol is something important. And I do not mean that an idol is anything at all.
Am I suggesting that an offering made to idols means anything, or that an idol itself means anything?
Now am I implying that a false god really exists, or that sacrifices made to any god have some value? Not at all! I say emphatically that Gentile sacrifices are made to evil powers and not to God at all. I don’t want you to have any fellowship with such powers. You cannot drink both the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils. You cannot be a guest at the Lord’s table and at the table of devils. Are we trying to arouse the wrath of God? Have we forgotten how completely we are in his hands?
What do I say then? that the idol is anything or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything?
What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?
What do I mean then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
Therefore, what am I saying? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What am I trying to say? Am I saying that the idols to whom the heathen bring sacrifices are really alive and are real gods, and that these sacrifices are of some value? No, not at all.
Do you see the difference? Sacrifices offered to idols are offered to nothing, for what’s the idol but a nothing? Or worse than nothing, a minus, a demon! I don’t want you to become part of something that reduces you to less than yourself. And you can’t have it both ways, banqueting with the Master one day and slumming with demons the next. Besides, the Master won’t put up with it. He wants us—all or nothing. Do you think you can get off with anything less?
What am I saying then, that the idol is anything or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is anything?
So what am I implying? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
Do I mean that an offering made to a false god is anything, or that a false god itself is anything?
So what am I saying? That meat sacrificed to idols is anything? Or that an idol is anything?
What do I mean then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What do I mean then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What then am I implying? That meat sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
I do not mean that the food sacrificed to an idol is important. I do not mean that an idol is anything at all.
Am I saying that idols or food sacrificed to them amount to anything?
Do I mean that food sacrificed to a statue of a god is anything? Do I mean that a statue of a god is anything?
Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?
Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything?
What do I mean? Am I saying that a false god or the food brought to it in worship is worth anything?
What am I trying to say? Am I saying that food offered to idols has some significance, or that idols are real gods?
What am I saying then? That the idol is anything? or that what is offered to idols is anything?
What do I imply then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What do I imply then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What do I imply then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What do I imply, then? That food sacrificed to idols is anything or that an idol is anything?
So what am I saying? That idol-food is real, or that an idol is a real being?
What then am I saying? That a sacrifice to an elil (idol) is anything or that an idol is anything?
What do I say, then? That the idol is anything? Or that that which is sacrificed to idols is anything?
What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What do I imply then? That food offered to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What am I saying then—that an idol sacrifice is anything, or that an idol is anything?
So what does all this mean? I’m not suggesting that idol food itself has any special qualities or that an idol itself possesses any special powers,
What am I saying then? That a thing sacrificed to idols is anything, or that an idol is anything?
What do I mean by saying this? Is the food that has been given to idols really something holy? Or is an idol really something like God?
What therefore say I, that a thing that is offered to idols is any thing, or that the idol is any thing?
what then do I say? that an idol is anything? or that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything? --
