4:6–11 This section reviews what the Lord did in punishment to warn His people and draw their attention back to Him. The emphatic phrase “I also” indicates the change of subject. All the disasters mentioned were threatened in the covenant (Deut. 28). Israel should have understood this and repented. But as the refrain repeats, “you did not return to me” (4:6, 8, 9, 10, 11).
