21:14–19 The judgment against Jehoram was twofold. God promises “a great plague” on the people and on Jehoram’s family, a threat fulfilled by the attacks of Philistines and Arabs. Second, Jehoram becomes terminally ill, as promised. The emphasis is on immediate retribution (1 Chr. 28:9 note).
