HASSHUB hăsh’ əb (חַשּׁ֛וּב, considerate). KJV has HASHUB everywhere except in 1 Chronicles 9:14. 1. Either one man or two men with the same name, who helped build the walls of Jerusalem in the time of Nehemiah (Neh 3:11, 23).
2. One of those who signed the covenant in the time of Ezra (Neh 10:23).
3. A leader of the Merari clan of the tribe of Levi, and the father of a man named Shemaiah who settled in Jerusalem after the return from the Captivity (1 Chron 9:14; Neh 11:15).
