Shamir [Shā'mĭr]—oppressed, a prison or a thorn. A son of Micah, a Levite and descendant of Uzziel (1 Chron. 24:24). Also the name of the hill country of Judah (Josh. 15:48), and of a city on Mount Ephraim, the home and burial place of Tola (Judg. 10:1, 2).
