Nereus [Nē'reŭs]—name of a sea god, who under poseidon or neptune ruled the mediterranean sea. A Christian in Rome to whom Paul sent a greeting (Rom. 16:15). Probably the son of Philologus. The phrase, “all the saints that are with them,” indicates a community of believers accustomed to meet together for worship and fellowship.
