A Psalm of David.
29 Give[a] (A)unto the Lord, O you mighty ones,
Give unto the Lord glory and strength.
2 [b]Give unto the Lord the glory [c]due to His name;
Worship the Lord in (B)the [d]beauty of holiness.
3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
(C)The God of glory thunders;
The Lord is over many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;
The voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
5 The voice of the Lord breaks (D)the cedars,
Yes, the Lord splinters the cedars of Lebanon.
6 (E)He makes them also skip like a calf,
Lebanon and (F)Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the Lord [e]divides the flames of fire.
12 Then (A)the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a great thunderous voice: “Blessed is the (B)glory of the Lord from His place!” 13 I also heard the (C)noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels beside them, and a great thunderous noise. 14 So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the [a]heat of my spirit; but (D)the hand of the Lord was strong upon me. 15 Then I came to the captives at Tel Abib, who dwelt by the River Chebar; and (E)I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.
Ezekiel Is a Watchman
16 Now it (F)came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 17 (G)“Son of man, I have made you (H)a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them (I)warning from Me: 18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man (J)shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. 19 Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; (K)but you have delivered your soul.
20 “Again, when a (L)righteous man turns from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die; because you did not give him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. 21 Nevertheless if you warn the righteous man that the righteous should not sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; also you will have delivered your soul.”
Peter Confesses Jesus as the Christ(A)
18 (B)And it happened, as He was alone praying, that His disciples joined Him, and He asked them, saying, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”
19 So they answered and said, (C)“John the Baptist, but some say Elijah; and others say that one of the old prophets has risen again.”
20 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
(D)Peter answered and said, “The Christ of God.”
Jesus Predicts His Death and Resurrection(E)
21 (F)And He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one, 22 saying, (G)“The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.”
Take Up the Cross and Follow Him(H)
23 (I)Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross [a]daily, and follow Me. 24 (J)For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 (K)For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 (L)For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be (M)ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels. 27 (N)But I tell you truly, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God.”
