Psalm 99

Psalm 99

The King Is Holy

The Lord reigns! Let the peoples tremble.
He is enthroned between the cherubim.(A)
Let the earth quake.(B)
The Lord is great in Zion;
he is exalted above all the peoples.(C)
Let them praise your great
and awe-inspiring name.(D)
He is holy.(E)

The mighty King loves justice.
You have established fairness;
you have administered justice
and righteousness in Jacob.(F)
Exalt the Lord our God;
bow in worship at his footstool.(G)
He is holy.(H)

Moses and Aaron were among his priests;(I)
Samuel also was among those calling on his name.
They called to the Lord and he answered them.(J)
He spoke to them in a pillar of cloud;(K)
they kept his decrees and the statutes he gave them.
Lord our God, you answered them.
You were a forgiving God to them,(L)
but an avenger of their sinful actions.(M)

Exalt the Lord our God;
bow in worship at his holy mountain,
for the Lord our God is holy.(N)

Deuteronomy 9:15-24

15 “So I went back down the mountain, while it was blazing with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my hands. 16 I saw how you had sinned against the Lord your God; you had made a calf image for yourselves. You had quickly turned from the way the Lord had commanded for you. 17 So I took hold of the two tablets and threw them from my hands, shattering them before your eyes.(A) 18 I fell down like the first time in the presence of the Lord for forty days and forty nights; I did not eat food or drink water because of all the sin you committed, doing what was evil in the Lord’s sight and angering him. 19 I was afraid of the fierce anger the Lord had directed against you,(B) because he was about to destroy you. But again the Lord listened to me on that occasion.(C) 20 The Lord was angry enough with Aaron to destroy him. But I prayed for Aaron at that time also. 21 I took the sinful calf you had made and burned it. I crushed it, thoroughly grinding it to powder as fine as dust, and threw its dust into the stream that came down from the mountain.(D)

22 “You continued to provoke the Lord at Taberah, Massah, and Kibroth-hattaavah.(E) 23 When the Lord sent you from Kadesh-barnea, he said, ‘Go up and possess the land I have given you’; you rebelled against the command of the Lord your God. You did not believe or obey him.(F) 24 You have been rebelling against the Lord ever since I have[a] known you.(G)

Luke 10:21-24

The Son Reveals the Father

21 At that time(A) he[a] rejoiced in the Holy[b] Spirit(B) and said, “I praise[c] you, Father,(C) Lord of heaven and earth,(D) because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent(E) and revealed them to infants.(F) Yes, Father, because this was your good pleasure.[d](G) 22 All things have[e] been entrusted to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son desires[f] to reveal him.”(H)

23 Then turning to his disciples he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see the things you see! 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see the things you see but didn’t see them; to hear the things you hear but didn’t hear them.”(I)
