Psalm 138[a]

138 I will give you thanks with all my heart;
before the heavenly assembly[b] I will sing praises to you.
2 I will bow down toward your holy temple,
and give thanks to your name,
because of your loyal love and faithfulness,
for you have exalted your promise above the entire sky.[c]
3 When[d] I cried out for help, you answered me.
You made me bold and energized me.[e]
4 Let all the kings of the earth give thanks[f] to you, O Lord,
when they hear the words you speak.[g]
5 Let them sing about the Lord’s deeds,[h]
for the Lord’s splendor is magnificent.[i]
6 Though the Lord is exalted, he looks after the lowly,
and from far away humbles[j] the proud.
7 Even when I must walk in the midst of danger,[k] you revive me.
You oppose my angry enemies,[l]
and your right hand delivers me.
8 The Lord avenges me.[m]
O Lord, your loyal love endures.
Do not abandon those whom you have made.[n]
Aaron’s Death
22 So the entire company of Israelites[a] traveled from Kadesh and came to Mount Hor.[b] 23 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom. He said: 24 “Aaron will be gathered to his ancestors,[c] for he will not enter into the land I have given to the Israelites because both of you[d] rebelled against my word[e] at the waters of Meribah. 25 Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up on Mount Hor. 26 Remove Aaron’s priestly garments[f] and put them on Eleazar his son, and Aaron will be gathered to his ancestors[g] and will die there.”
27 So Moses did as the Lord commanded; and they went up Mount Hor in the sight[h] of the whole community. 28 And Moses removed Aaron’s garments and put them on his son Eleazar. So Aaron died there on the top of the mountain. And Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain. 29 When all the community saw that Aaron was dead, the whole house of Israel mourned for Aaron thirty days.
19 and after taking some food, his strength returned.
For several days[a] he was with the disciples in Damascus, 20 and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues,[b] saying, “This man is the Son of God.”[c] 21 All[d] who heard him were amazed and were saying, “Is this not[e] the man who in Jerusalem was ravaging[f] those who call on this name, and who had come here to bring them as prisoners[g] to the chief priests?” 22 But Saul became more and more capable,[h] and was causing consternation[i] among the Jews who lived in Damascus by proving[j] that Jesus[k] is the Christ.[l]
Saul’s Escape from Damascus
23 Now after some days had passed, the Jews plotted[m] together to kill him, 24 but Saul learned of their plot against him.[n] They were also watching[o] the city gates[p] day and night so that they could kill him. 25 But his disciples took him at night and let him down through an opening[q] in the wall by lowering him in a basket.[r]
