New English Translation (NET)
Version
Psalm 126

Psalm 126[a]

A song of ascents.[b]

126 When the Lord restored the well-being of Zion,[c]
we thought we were dreaming.[d]
At that time we laughed loudly
and shouted for joy.[e]
At that time the nations said,[f]
“The Lord has accomplished great things for these people.”
The Lord did indeed accomplish great things for us.
We were happy.
O Lord, restore our well-being,
just as the streams in the arid south are replenished.[g]
Those who shed tears as they plant
will shout for joy when they reap the harvest.[h]
The one who weeps as he walks along, carrying his bag[i] of seed,
will certainly come in with a shout of joy, carrying his sheaves of grain.[j]

Isaiah 19:18-25

18 At that time five cities[a] in the land of Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. One will be called the City of the Sun.[b] 19 At that time there will be an altar for the Lord in the middle of the land of Egypt, as well as a sacred pillar[c] dedicated to the Lord at its border. 20 It[d] will become a visual reminder in the land of Egypt of[e] the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. When they cry out to the Lord because of oppressors, he will send them a deliverer and defender[f] who will rescue them. 21 The Lord will reveal himself to the Egyptians, and they[g] will acknowledge the Lord’s authority[h] at that time.[i] They will present sacrifices and offerings; they will make vows to the Lord and fulfill them. 22 The Lord will strike Egypt, striking and then healing them. They will turn to the Lord, and he will listen to their prayers[j] and heal them.

23 At that time there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will visit Egypt, and the Egyptians will visit Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together.[k] 24 At that time Israel will be the third member of the group, along with Egypt and Assyria, and will be a recipient of blessing[l] in the earth.[m] 25 The Lord of Heaven’s Armies will pronounce a blessing over the earth, saying,[n] “Blessed be my people, Egypt, and the work of my hands, Assyria, and my special possession,[o] Israel!”

2 Peter 1:2-15

May grace and peace be lavished on you[a] as you grow[b] in the rich knowledge[c] of God and of Jesus our Lord![d]

Believers’ Salvation and the Work of God

I can pray this because his divine power[e] has bestowed on us everything necessary[f] for life and godliness through the rich knowledge[g] of the one who called[h] us by[i] his own glory and excellence. Through these things[j] he has bestowed on us his precious and most magnificent promises, so that by means of what was promised[k] you may become partakers of the divine nature,[l] after escaping[m] the worldly corruption that is produced by evil desire.[n] For this very reason,[o] make every effort[p] to add to your faith excellence,[q] to excellence, knowledge; to knowledge, self-control; to self-control, perseverance;[r] to perseverance, godliness; to godliness, brotherly affection; to brotherly affection, unselfish[s] love.[t] For if[u] these things are really yours[v] and are continually increasing,[w] they will keep you from becoming[x] ineffective and unproductive in your pursuit of[y] knowing our Lord Jesus Christ more intimately.[z] But[aa] concerning the one who lacks such things[ab]—he is blind. That is to say, he is[ac] nearsighted, since he has forgotten about the cleansing of his past sins. 10 Therefore, brothers and sisters,[ad] make every effort to be sure of your calling and election.[ae] For by doing this[af] you will never[ag] stumble into sin.[ah] 11 For thus an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be richly provided for you.

Salvation Based on the Word of God

12 Therefore, I intend to remind you constantly[ai] of these things even though you know them and are well established in the truth that you now have. 13 Indeed, as long as I am in this tabernacle,[aj] I consider it right to stir you up by way of a reminder, 14 since I know that my tabernacle will soon be removed,[ak] because[al] our Lord Jesus Christ revealed this to me.[am] 15 Indeed, I will also make every effort that, after my departure, you have a testimony of these things.[an]
