Read the New Testament in 24 Weeks
2 1 He setteth down a platform of his preaching, 4 which was base in respect of man’s wisdom, 7, 13 but noble in respect of the spiritual power and efficacy. 14 And so concludeth that flesh and blood cannot rightly judge thereof.
1 And [a]I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with (A)excellency of words, or of wisdom, showing unto you the [b]testimony of God.
2 For I [c]esteemed not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
3 (B)And I was among you in [d]weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
4 Neither stood my word, and my preaching in the (C)enticing speech of man’s wisdom, [e]but in plain [f]evidence of the Spirit and of power.
5 [g]That your faith should not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
6 [h]And we speak wisdom among them that are [i]perfect: not the wisdom of this world, neither of the [j]princes of this world, which come to nought.
7 [k]But we speak the wisdom of God in a [l]mystery, even the hid wisdom, [m]which God had determined before the world, unto our glory.
8 [n]Which none of the princes of this world hath known: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the [o]Lord of glory.
9 [p]But as it is written, (D)The things which eye hath not seen, neither ear hath heard, neither came into [q]man’s heart, are, which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10 [r]But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the spirit [s]searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 [t]For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the [u]spirit of a man, which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have receiveth not the [v]spirit of the world, but the Spirit, which is of God, [w]that we might [x]know the things that are given to us of God.
13 [y]Which things also we speak, not in the (E)words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the holy Ghost teacheth, [z]comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.
14 [aa]But the [ab]natural man perceiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him, neither can he know them, because they are [ac]spiritually discerned.
15 [ad]But he that is spiritual, [ae]discerneth all things: yet [af]he himself is judged of [ag]no man.
16 (F)[ah]For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he might [ai]instruct him? But we have the [aj]mind of Christ.
3 1 He yieldeth a reason why he preached small matters unto them: 4 He showeth how they ought to esteem of Ministers: 6 The minister’s office. 10 A true form of edifying. 16 He warneth the Corinthians, that they be not drawn away to profane things, 18 through the proud wisdom of the flesh.
1 And [ak]I could not speak unto you, brethren, as unto spiritual men, but as unto [al]carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
2 I gave you milk to drink, and not [am]meat: for ye were not yet [an]able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as [ao]men?
4 For when one saith, I am Paul’s, and another, I am Apollos’s, are ye not carnal?
5 [ap]Who is Paul then? and who is Apollos, but the ministers by whom ye believed, and as the Lord gave to every man?
6 [aq]I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.
7 So then, neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth, but God that giveth the increase.
8 And he that planteth, and he that watereth, are one, (G)and every man shall receive his wages, according to his labor.
9 For we together are God’s [ar]laborers: ye are God’s husbandry, and God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God given to me, as a skillful master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon: [as]but let every man take heed how he buildeth upon it.
11 [at]For other foundation can no man lay, than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 [au]And if any man build on this foundation, gold, silver, precious stones, timber, hay, or stubble,
13 [av]Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by the fire: and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
14 If any man’s work, that he hath built upon, abide, he shall receive wages.
15 If any man’s work burn, he shall lose, but [aw]he shall be saved himself: nevertheless yet as it were by the fire.
16 (H)[ax]Know ye not that ye are the Temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
17 If any man [ay]destroy the Temple of God, him shall God destroy: for the Temple of God is holy, which ye are.
18 [az]Let no man deceive himself: If any man among you seem to be wise in this world, let him be a fool, that he may be wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God: for it is written, (I)He [ba]catcheth the wise in their own craftiness.
20 (J)And again, The Lord knoweth that the thoughts of the wise be vain.
21 [bb]Therefore let no man [bc]rejoice in men: for all things are [bd]yours.
22 Whether it be Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the [be]world, or life, or death, whether they be things present, or things to come, even all are yours,
23 And ye Christ’s, and Christ God’s.
