Genesis 45

45 1 Joseph maketh himself known to his brethren. 8 He showeth that all was done by God’s providence. 18 Pharaoh commandeth him to send for his father. 24 Joseph exhorteth his brethren to concord.

Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all that stood by him, but he cried, [a]Have forth every man from me. And there tarried not one with him, while Joseph uttered himself unto his brethren.

And he wept, and cried, so that the Egyptians heard: the house of Pharaoh heard also.

Then Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph: doth my father yet live? But his brethren could not answer him, for they were astonished at his presence.

Again, Joseph said to his brethren, Come near, I pray you, to me. And they came near. And he said, (A)I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.

Now therefore be not [b]sad, neither grieved with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: (B)For God did send me before you for your preservation.

For now two years of famine have been through the land, and five years are behind, wherein neither shall be earing nor harvest.

Wherefore God sent me before you to preserve your posterity in this land, and to save you alive by a great deliverance.

Now then you sent not me hither, but [c]God, who hath made me a father unto Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

Haste you and go up to my father, and tell him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down to me, tarry not.

10 And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and shalt be near me, thou and thy children, and thy children’s children, and thy sheep, and thy beasts, and all that thou hast.

11 Also I will nourish thee there (for yet remain five years of famine) lest thou perish through poverty, thou and thy household, and all that thou hast.

12 And behold, your eyes do see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that [d]my mouth speaketh to you.

13 Therefore tell my father of all mine honor in Egypt, and of all that ye have seen, and make haste, and bring my father hither.

14 Then he fell on his brother Benjamin’s neck, and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck.

15 Moreover, he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and afterward his brethren talked with him.

16 ¶ And the [e]tidings came to Pharaoh’s house, so that they said, Joseph’s brethren are come: and it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.

17 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, Say to thy brethren, This do ye, laid your beasts and depart, go to the land of Canaan,

18 And take your father, and your household, and come to me, and I will give you the [f]best of the land of Egypt, and ye shall eat of the [g]fat of the land.

19 And I command thee, Thus do ye, take you chariots out of the land of Egypt for your children, and for your wives, and bring your father and come.

20 Also [h]regard not your stuff: for the best of all the land of Egypt is yours.

21 And the children of Israel did so: and Joseph gave them chariots according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he gave them vittles also for the journey.

22 He gave them all, none except, change of raiment: but unto Benjamin he gave three hundred pieces of silver, and five suits of raiment.

23 And unto his father [i]likewise he sent ten he asses laden with the best things of Egypt, and ten she asses laden with wheat, and bread and meat for his father by the way.

24 So sent he his brethren away, and they departed: and he said unto them, [j]Fall not out by the way.

25 Then they went up from Egypt, and came unto the land of Canaan, unto Jacob their father,

26 And told him, saying, Joseph is yet alive, and he also is governor over all the land of Egypt, and Jacob’s heart [k]failed: for he believed them not.

27 And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: but when he saw the chariots, which Joseph had sent to carry him, then the spirit of Jacob their father revived.

28 And Israel said, I have enough: Joseph my son is yet alive: I will go and see him yet I die.

Mark 15

15 1 Of the things Christ suffered under Pilate. 11 Barabbas is preferred before Christ. 15 Pilate delivereth Christ to be crucified. 17 He is crowned with thorns. 19 They spit on him, and mock him. 21 Simon of Cyrene carrieth Christ’s cross. 27 Christ is crucified between two thieves. 26 He is railed at. 37 He giveth up the ghost. 43 Joseph burieth him.

And (A)[a]anon in the dawning, the high Priests held a Council with the Elders, and the Scribes, and the whole Council, and bound Jesus, and led him away, and [b]delivered him to Pilate.

Then Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered, and said unto him, Thou sayest it.

And the high Priests accused him of many things.

(B)Wherefore Pilate asked him again, saying, Answered thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.

But Jesus answered no more at all, so that Pilate marveled.

Now at the feast, Pilate [c]did deliver a prisoner unto them, whomsoever they would desire.

Then there was one named Barabbas, which was bound with his fellows, that had made insurrection, who in the insurrection had committed murder.

And the people cried aloud, and began to desire that he would do as he had ever done unto them.

Then Pilate answered them, and said, Will ye that I let loose unto you the King of the Jews?

10 For he knew that the high Priests had delivered him of envy.

11 But the high Priests had moved the people to desire that he would rather deliver Barabbas unto them.

12 And Pilate answered, and said again unto them, What will ye then that I do with him, whom ye call the King of the Jews?

13 And they cried again, Crucify him.

14 Then Pilate said unto them, But what evil hath he done? And they cried the more fervently, Crucify him.

15 So Pilate willing to content the people, loosed them Barabbas, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, that he might be crucified.

16 Then the soldiers led him away into the hall, which is the common hall, and called together the whole band,

17 [d]And clad him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head,

18 And began to salute him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews.

19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and spat upon him, and bowed the knees, and did him reverence.

20 And when they had mocked him, they took the purple off him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

21 (C)And they [e]compelled one that passed by, called Simon of Cyrene (which came out of the country, and was father of Alexander and Rufus) to bear his cross.

22 (D)[f]And they brought him to a place named Golgotha, which is by interpretation, the place of dead mens’ skulls.

23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

24 (E)[g]And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots for them, what every man should have.

25 And it was the third hour when they crucified him.

26 And the title of his cause was written above, THAT KING OF THE JEWS.

27 They crucified also with him two thieves, the one on the right hand, and the other on his left.

28 Thus the Scripture was fulfilled, which saith, (F)And he was counted among the wicked.

29 And they that went by, railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, (G)Hey, thou that destroyest the Temple, and buildest it in three days,

30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

31 Likewise also even the high Priests mocking, said among themselves with the Scribes, He saved other men, himself he cannot save.

32 Let Christ the king of Israel now come down from the cross, that we may see, and believe. They also that were crucified with him, reviled him.

33 ¶ Now when the sixth hour was come, [h]darkness arose over [i]all the land until the ninth hour.

34 And at the [j]ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, (H)Eloi, Eloi, lama-sabachthani? which is by interpretation, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elijah.

36 And one ran, and filled a (I)sponge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink, saying, Let him alone: let us see if Elijah will come, and take him down.

37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

38 And the veil of the Temple was rent in twain, from the top to the bottom.

39 Now when the Centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he thus crying gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

40 [k]There were also women which beheld afar off, among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less, and of Joses, and Salome,

41 Which also when he was in Galilee, (J)followed him, and ministered unto him, and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

42 (K)And now when the night was come (because it was the day of the preparation that is before the Sabbath)

43 (L)Joseph of Arimathea, an [l]honorable counselor, which also looked for the kingdom of God, came, and went in [m]boldly unto Pilate, and asked the body of Jesus.

44 And Pilate marveled, if he were already dead, and called unto him the Centurion, and asked of him whether he had been any while dead.

45 And when he knew the truth of the Centurion, he gave the body to Joseph:

46 Who bought a linen cloth, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen cloth, and laid him in a tomb that was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulcher:

47 And Mary Magdalene, and Mary Joses’ mother, beheld where he should be laid.

Job 11

11 1 Job is unjustly reprehended of Zophar. 7 God is incomprehensible. 14 He is merciful to the repentant. 18 Their assurance that live godly.

Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

Should not the multitude of words be answered? or should a great [a]talker be justified?

Should men hold their peace at thy lies? and when thou mockest others, shall none make thee ashamed?

For thou hast said, [b]My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.

But, oh that God would speak and open his lips against thee!

That he might show thee the [c]secrets of wisdom how thou hast deserved double, according to right: know therefore that God hath forgotten thee for thine iniquity.

Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty to his perfection?

The heavens are high, what canst thou do? [d]it is deeper than the hell, how canst thou know it?

The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and it is broader than the Sea.

10 If he cut off and [e]shut up, or gather together, who can turn him back?

11 For he knoweth vain men, and seeth iniquity, and him that understandeth nothing.

12 Yet vain man would be wise, though man newborn is like a wild [f]ass colt.

13 If thou [g]prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him:

14 If iniquity be in thine [h]hand, put it far away, and let no wickedness dwell in thy Tabernacle.

15 Then truly shalt thou lift up thy [i]face without spot, and shalt be stable, and shalt not fear.

16 But thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that are past.

17 Thine age also shall appear more clear than the noon day: thou shalt shine and be as the morning.

18 And thou shalt be bold, because there is hope: and thou shalt dig pits, and shalt lie down safely.

19 (A)For when thou takest thy rest, none shall make thee afraid: yea, many shall make suit unto thee.

20 But the eyes [j]of the wicked shall fail, and their refuge shall perish, and their hope shall be sorrow of mind.

Romans 15

15 1 The stronger must employ their strength to strengthen the weak. 5 By Christ’s example, 7 who received 8 not only the Jews, 10 but also the Gentiles. 15 The cause why he wrote this Epistle.

We [a]which are strong, ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to [b]please ourselves.

Therefore let every man please his neighbor in that that is [c]good to edification.

[d]For Christ also would not please himself, but as it is written, (A)The rebukes of them which rebuke thee, fell on me.

[e]For whatsoever things are written [f]aforetime, are written for our learning, that we through patience, and comfort of the [g]Scriptures might have hope.

[h]Now the God of patience and consolation give you that ye be (B)like-minded one towards another, according to Christ Jesus,

That ye with one mind, and with one mouth may praise God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also [i]received us to the glory of God.

[j]Now I say, that Jesus Christ was a minister of the [k]circumcision, for the [l]truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers.

[m]And let the Gentiles praise God, for his mercy, as it is written, (C)For this cause I will [n]confess thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy Name.

10 And again he saith, (D)Rejoice, ye Gentiles with his people.

11 And again, (E)Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles, and laud ye him all people together.

12 And again Isaiah saith, (F)There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles, in him shall the Gentiles trust.

13 [o]Now the God of [p]hope fill you with [q]all joy, and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the holy Ghost.

14 [r]And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that [s]ye also are full of goodness, and filled with all knowledge, and are able to admonish one another.

15 Nevertheless, brethren, I have somewhat boldly after a sort written unto you, as one that putteth you in remembrance, through the grace that is given me of God,

16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ toward the Gentiles, ministering the Gospel of God, that the [t]offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the holy Ghost.

17 [u]I have therefore whereof I may rejoice in Christ Jesus in those things which pertain to God.

18 For I dare not speak of anything, which [v]Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient in word and deed,

19 With the [w]power of signs and wonders, by the power of the spirit of God: so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have caused to abound the Gospel of Christ.

20 Yea, so I enforced myself to preach the Gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should have built on another man’s foundation.

21 But as it is written, (G)To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see him, and they that heard not, shall understand him.

22 (H)[x]Therefore also I have been oft let to come unto you:

23 But now seeing I have no more place in these quarters, and also have (I)been desirous many years agone to come unto you,

24 When I shall take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, after that I have been somewhat filled with your company.

25 But now go I to Jerusalem, to [y]minister unto the Saints.

26 For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia, to make a certain distribution unto the poor Saints which are at Jerusalem.

27 [z]For it hath pleased them, and their debtors are they: (J)for if the Gentiles be made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to [aa]minister unto them in carnal things.

28 When I have therefore performed this, and have [ab]sealed them this [ac]fruit, I will pass by you into Spain.

29 [ad]And I know when I come, that I shall come to you with abundance of the blessing of the Gospel of Christ.

30 Also brethren, I beseech you for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the [ae]love of the spirit, that ye would strive with me by prayers to God for me,

31 That I may be delivered from them which are disobedient in Judea, and that my service which I have to do at Jerusalem, may be accepted of the Saints,

32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

33 Thus the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
