M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan
12 3 To destroy the idolatrous places. 5, 8 To serve God where he commandeth, and as he commandeth, and not as men fantasize. 19 The Levites must be nourished. 31 Idolaters burnt their children to their gods, to add nothing to God’s word.
1 These are the ordinances and the laws, which ye shall observe and do in the land, (which the Lord God [a]of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it) as long as ye live upon the earth.
2 (A)Ye shall utterly destroy all the places wherein the nations which ye shall possess, served their gods upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree.
3 (B)Also ye shall overthrow their altars, and break down their pillars, and burn their [b]groves with fire: and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and abolish their names out of that place.
4 Ye shall [c]not do so unto the Lord your God,
5 But ye shall seek the place which the Lord your God shall (C)choose out of your tribes, to put his Name there, and there to dwell, and thither thou shalt come,
6 And ye shall bring thither your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and the [d]offering of your hands, and your vows, and your free offerings, and the firstborn of your kine and of your sheep.
7 And there ye shall eat [e]before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, both ye, and your households, because the Lord thy God hath blessed thee.
8 Ye shall not do after all these things that we do [f]here this day: that is, every man whatsoever seemeth him good in his own eyes.
9 For ye are not yet come to rest, and to the inheritance which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
10 But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land, which the Lord your God hath given you to inherit, and when he hath given you [g]rest from all your enemies round about, and ye dwell in safety,
11 When there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, thither shall ye bring all that I command you: your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the offering of your hands, and all your [h]special vows which ye vow unto the Lord:
12 And ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God, ye, and your sons and your daughters, and your servants, and your maidens, and the Levite that is within your gates: (D)for he hath no part nor inheritance with you.
13 Take heed that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:
14 But in the place which the Lord shall [i]choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.
15 Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates, whatsoever thine heart desireth, according to the [j]blessing of the Lord thy God which he had given thee: both the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, [k]as of the roebuck, and of the hart.
16 Only ye shall not eat the blood, but pour it upon the earth as water.
17 ¶ Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the [l]tithe of thy corn, nor of thy wine, nor of thine oil, nor the firstborn of thy kine, nor of thy sheep, neither any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy free offerings, nor the offering of thine hands,
18 But thou shalt eat it before the Lord thy God, in the place which the Lord thy God shall choose, thou and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy servant, and thy maid, and the Levite that is within thy gates: and thou shalt rejoice before the Lord thy God, in all that thou puttest thine hand to.
19 Beware, that thou forsake not the Levite, as long as thou livest upon the earth.
20 ¶ When the Lord thy God shall enlarge thy border, as (E)he hath promised thee, and thou shalt say, I will eat flesh (because thine heart longeth to eat flesh) thou mayest eat flesh, whatsoever thine heart desireth.
21 If the place which the Lord thy God hath chosen to put his Name there, be far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy bullocks, and of thy sheep which the Lord hath given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates, whatsoever thine heart desireth.
22 But as the roebuck, and the hart is eaten, so shalt thou eat them: both the unclean and the clean shall eat of them alike.
23 Only be [m]sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood [n]is the life, and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh.
24 Therefore thou shalt not eat it, but pour it upon the earth as water.
25 Thou shalt not eat it, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord:
26 But thine [o]holy things which thou hast, and thy vows thou shalt take up, and come unto the place which the Lord shall choose.
27 And thou shalt make thy burnt offerings of the flesh, and of the blood upon the altar of the Lord thy God, and the blood of thine offerings shall be poured upon the altar of the Lord thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.
28 Take heed, and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go [p]well with thee, and with thy children after thee forever, when thou doest that which is good and right in the sight of the Lord thy God.
29 ¶ When the Lord thy God shall destroy the nations before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou shalt possess them and dwell in their land,
30 Beware, lest thou be taken in [q]snare after them, after that they be destroyed before thee, and lest thou ask after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods, that I may do so likewise?
31 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for all abomination, which the Lord hateth, have they done unto their gods: for they have [r]burned both their sons and their daughters with fire to their gods.
32 Therefore whatsoever I command you, take heed you do it: (F)thou shalt put nothing thereto, nor take ought therefrom.
97 1 The Prophet exhorteth all to rejoice for the coming of the kingdom of Christ, 7 dreadful to the rebels and idolaters, 8 and joyful to the just, whom he exhorteth to innocency, 12 to rejoicing and thanksgiving.
1 The [a]Lord reigneth: let the earth rejoice: let the [b]multitude of the Isles be glad.
2 [c]Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the foundation of his throne.
3 There shall go a fire before him, and burn up his enemies round about.
4 His lightnings gave light unto the world: the earth saw it and was [d]afraid.
5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
7 [e]Confounded be all they that serve graven images, and that glory in idols: worship him [f]all ye gods.
8 Zion heard of it, and was glad: and the [g]daughters of Judah rejoiced, because of thy judgments, O Lord.
9 For thou, Lord, art most High above all the earth: thou art much exalted above all gods.
10 Ye that [h]love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his Saints: he will deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
11 [i]Light is sown for the righteous, and joy for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice ye righteous in the Lord, and give thanks for his holy [j]remembrance.
98 1 An earnest exhortation to all creatures to praise the Lord for his power, mercy and fidelity in his promise by Christ, 10 by whom he hath communicated his salvation to all nations.
A Psalm.
1 Sing [k]unto the Lord a new song: for he hath done marvelous things: (A)his right hand, and his holy [l]arm have gotten him the victory.
2 The Lord declared his [m]salvation: his righteousness hath he revealed in the sight of the nations.
3 He hath [n]remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
4 All the earth, sing ye loud unto the Lord: cry out and rejoice, and sing praises.
5 Sing praise to the Lord upon the harp, even upon the harp with a singing voice.
6 With [o]shalms and sound of trumpets sing loud before the Lord the king.
7 Let the sea roar, and all that therein is, the world, and they that dwell therein.
8 Let the floods clap their hands, and let the mountains rejoice together,
9 Before the Lord: for he is come to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world: and the people with equity.
40 2 Remission of sins by Christ. 3 The coming of John Baptist. 18 The Prophet reproveth the Idolaters, and them that trust not in the Lord.
1 Comfort [a]ye, comfort ye my people, will your God say.
2 Speak comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her [b]warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she hath received of the Lord’s hand [c]double for all her sins.
3 A [d]voice crieth in the [e]wilderness, [f]Prepare ye the way of the Lord: make straight in the desert a path for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every [g]mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked shall be straight, and the rough places plain.
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all [h]flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
6 A [i]voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the [j]grace thereof is as the flowers of the field.
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, because the [k]Spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the [l]word of our God shall stand forever.
9 ¶ O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high [m]mountain: O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength: lift it up, be not afraid: say unto the cities of Judah, Behold [n]your God.
10 Behold, the Lord God will come with power, and [o]his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall guide them with [p]young.
12 Who hath measured the waters in his [q]fist? and counted heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure? and weighed the mountains in a weight, and the hills in a balance?
13 Who hath instructed the spirit of the Lord? or was [r]his counselor, or taught him?
14 Of whom took the counsel, and who instructed him and taught him in the way of judgment? or taught him knowledge, and showed unto him the way of understanding?
15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the dust of the balance: behold, he taketh away the isles as a little dust.
16 And Lebanon is not sufficient for fire, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering.
17 All nations before him are as [s]nothing, and they are counted to him, less than nothing, and vanity.
18 To whom then [t]will ye liken God? or what similitude will ye set up unto him?
19 The workman melteth an image, or the goldsmith beateth it out in gold, or the goldsmith maketh silver plates.
20 Doth not [u]the poor choose out a tree that will not rot, for an oblation? he seeketh also unto him a cunning workman, to prepare an image that shall not be moved.
21 Know ye nothing? have ye not heard [v]it? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood it by the [w]foundation of the earth?
22 He sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers, he stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out, as a tent to dwell in.
23 He bringeth the princes to nothing, and maketh the judges of the earth, as vanity,
24 As though they were not planted, as though they were not sown, as though their stock took no root in the earth: for he did even [x]blow upon them, and they withered, and the whirlwind will take them away as stubble.
25 To whom now will ye liken me, that I should be like him, saith the Holy one?
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, and bringeth [y]out their armies by number, and calleth them all by names: by the greatness of his power and mighty strength nothing faileth.
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest O Israel, [z]My way is hid from the Lord, and my judgment is passed over of my God?
28 Knowest thou not? or hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord hath created the [aa]ends of the earth? he neither fainteth, nor is weary: there is no searching of his [ab]understanding.
29 But he giveth strength unto him that fainteth, and unto him that hath no strength, he increaseth power.
30 [ac]Even the young men shall faint, and be weary, and the young men shall stumble and fall.
31 But they that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength: they shall lift up the wings, as the eagles: they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.
10 Another Angel appeareth with a cloud, 2 holding a book open, 3 and crieth out. 8 A voice from heaven commandeth John to take the book. 10 He eateth it.
1 And [a]I saw [b]another mighty Angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud, and the rainbow upon his head, and his face was as the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire.
2 And he had in his hand a [c]little book open, and he put his right foot upon the sea, and his left on the earth,
3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4 [d]And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: but I heard a voice from heaven, saying unto me, [e]Seal up those things which the seven thunders have spoken, and write them not.
5 And the Angel which I saw stand upon the sea, and upon the earth, [f]lift up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that liveth for evermore, which created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things that therein are, [g]that [h]time should be no more.
7 But in the days of the [i]voice of the seventh Angel, when he shall begin to blow the trumpet, even the mystery of God shall be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the Prophets.
8 [j]And the voice which I heard from heaven, spake unto me again, and said, Go, and take the little book which is open in the hand of the Angel, which standeth upon the sea, and upon the earth.
9 So I went unto the Angel, and said to him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up, and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth as sweet as honey.
10 Then I took the little book out of the Angel’s hand, and ate it up, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey: but when I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 [k]And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again among the people and nations, and tongues, and to many Kings.
