Isaiah 66:7-14

Before Zion was in labor, she gave birth;
before she was in pain, she delivered a boy.
Who has heard of such a thing?
Who has seen such things?
Can a land be born in one day
or a nation be delivered in an instant?
Yet as soon as Zion was in labor,
she gave birth to her sons.
“Will I bring a baby to the point of birth
and not deliver it?”
says the Lord;
“or will I who deliver, close the womb?”
says your God.
10 Be glad for Jerusalem and rejoice over her,
all who love her.(A)
Rejoice greatly with her,
all who mourn over her—
11 so that you may nurse and be satisfied
from her comforting breast
and drink deeply and delight yourselves
from her glorious breasts.

12 For this is what the Lord says:

I will make peace flow to her like a river,(B)
and the wealth[a] of nations like a flood;(C)
you will nurse and be carried on her hip(D)
and bounced on her lap.
13 As a mother comforts her son,
so I will comfort you,(E)
and you will be comforted in Jerusalem.
14 You will see, you will rejoice,
and you[b] will flourish like grass;(F)
then the Lord’s power will be revealed to his servants,
but he will show his wrath against his enemies.

1 John 3:4-10

Everyone who commits sin practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. You know that he was revealed so that he might take away sins,[a](A) and there is no sin in him.(B) Everyone who remains in him(C) does not sin;[b](D) everyone who sins[c] has not seen him or known him.

Little children, let no one deceive you. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who commits[d] sin is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God(E) was revealed(F) for this purpose: to destroy the devil’s works. Everyone who has been born of God(G) does not sin,[e] because his seed(H) remains in him; he is not able to sin,[f] because he has been born of God. 10 This is how God’s children and the devil’s children become obvious. Whoever does not do what is right is not of God, especially the one who does not love his brother or sister.(I)

John 10:7-16

Jesus said again, “Truly I tell you, I am(A) the gate for the sheep.(B) All who came before me[a] are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn’t listen to them. I am the gate. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will come in and go out and find pasture. 10 A thief comes only to steal(C) and kill and destroy.(D) I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.

11 “I am the good shepherd.(E) The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.(F) 12 The hired hand, since he is not the shepherd and doesn’t own the sheep, leaves them[b] and runs away when he sees a wolf(G) coming. The wolf then snatches and scatters them. 13 This happens because he is a hired hand and doesn’t care about the sheep.

14 “I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father.(H) I lay down my life(I) for the sheep. 16 But I have other sheep(J) that are not from this sheep pen; I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. Then there will be one flock, one shepherd.(K)
