  2. The Fellowship of the Believers

    They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
  3. They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead.

  9. But a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, who was honored by all the people, stood up in the Sanhedrin and ordered that the men be put outside for a little while.
  10. Day after day, in the temple courts and from house to house, they never stopped teaching and proclaiming the good news that Jesus is the Messiah.
  11. So they stirred up the people and the elders and the teachers of the law. They seized Stephen and brought him before the Sanhedrin.
  12. Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.
  13. When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.
