  1. Introduction

    The first account I composed, Theophilus, about all that Jesus began to do and teach,

  17. Threat and Release

    Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.
  18. And when they had summoned them, they commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.
  19. For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel,
  20. while You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”
  21. And with great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and abundant grace was upon them all.
  22. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you put to death by hanging Him on a cross.
  23. They followed his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they flogged them and ordered them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them.
  24. And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not stop teaching and preaching the good news of Jesus as the Christ.
  25. for we have heard him say that this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses handed down to us.”
