  14. A Crippled Man is Healed

    One afternoon, Peter and John were on their way to the Temple for the three o’clock prayer time.
  15. However, Peter said, “I don’t have any silver or gold, but I’ll give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus the Messiah from Nazareth, walk!”
  16. When Peter saw this, he told the people: “Fellow Israelis, why are you wondering about this, and why are you staring at us as if by our own power or godliness we made him walk?
  17. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God of our ancestors—has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you betrayed and rejected in the presence of Pilate, even though he had decided to let him go.
  18. It is his name—that is, by faith in his name—that has healed this man whom you see and know. Yes, the faith that comes through Jesus has given him this perfect health in the presence of all of you.
  19. This is how God fulfilled what he had predicted through the voice of all the prophets—that his Messiah would suffer.
  20. If we are being questioned today for a good deed done for someone who was sick or to learn how this man was healed,
  21. you and all the people of Israel must understand that this man stands healthy before you because of the name of Jesus from Nazareth, whom you crucified, but whom God raised from the dead.
  22. He is ‘the stone that was rejected by you builders, which has become the cornerstone.’
  23. There is no salvation by anyone else, for there is no other name under heaven given among people by which we must be saved.”
  24. But Peter and John answered them, “You must decide whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than God,
  25. since the man on whom this sign of healing had been performed was more than 40 years old.
