  1. Now when Jesus heard that John had been arrested and put in prison, He withdrew into Galilee.
  2. Come to terms quickly with your accuser while you are on the way traveling with him, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison.

  15. And immediately the king sent off one [of the soldiers] of his bodyguard and gave him orders to bring [John’s] head. He went and beheaded him in the prison
  16. Now at the Feast he [was accustomed to] set free for them any one prisoner whom they requested.
  17. And among the rioters in the prison who had committed murder in the insurrection there was a man named Barabbas.
  18. Added this to them all—that he shut up John in prison.
  19. And John’s disciples brought him [who was now in prison] word of all these things.
  20. Then as you go with your accuser before a magistrate, on the way make a diligent effort to settle and be quit (free) of him, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge turn you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison.
  21. But previous to all this, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, turning you over to the synagogues and prisons, and you will be led away before kings and governors for My name’s sake.
  22. And [Simon Peter] said to Him, Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death.
  23. For it was necessary for him to release to them one prisoner at the Feast.
  24. He was a man who had been thrown into prison for raising a riot in the city, and for murder.
  25. So he released the man who had been thrown into prison for riot and murder, for whom they continued to ask, but Jesus he delivered up to be done with as they willed.
