  15. Hosea’s Reconciliation With His Wife

    The Lord said to me, “Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her as the Lord loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes.”

  17. The Charge Against Israel

    Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites, because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: “There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land.
  18. The more priests there were, the more they sinned against me; they exchanged their glorious God for something disgraceful.

  21. Even when their drinks are gone, they continue their prostitution; their rulers dearly love shameful ways.
  22. I know all about Ephraim; Israel is not hidden from me. Ephraim, you have now turned to prostitution; Israel is corrupt.
  23. Then I will return to my lair until they have borne their guilt and seek my face— in their misery they will earnestly seek me.”

  25. For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.
